 Hello; In the seventies I was a frequently listener to RNI, living near Scheveningen Holland. Once I have been to the broadcasting ship Mebo 2 with the Trip Tender, the ship which brought supplies and 'fresh' dj's. I have great memories of that time and still, sometimes when I am at work in my barn, I play an old tape of RNI. I recently found this web-site and enjoyed listening to your RNI-broadcast. Just finished reading your VERY interesting website.......it all takes me right back......
As a child of 1949, I have a few years on you.......I was 14 when Caroline first came on air....and I have followed independent radio ever since.
I was probably one of the very first onshore radio stations and built my own small battery operated MW transmitter in in 1965 using components salvaged from a radio construction kit that my Mother bought me as a birthday present.
I went "on-air" in August 1965 as "Radio Blackheath", although I never found out just how far I actually got. I suspect it wasn't that far in reality. But that wasn't the point. It was fun and it was illegal. That combination was the buzz.
I am still "involved" with radio and now my son is going the same way as his old man.......
Its all good.

 I was on MW in the 70's (from Sutton) under various names (Radio Cringe mainly). My old man was too, as Radio Genevieve. We used to chat to Radio Gem, Radio Triangle, Radio Mike, Radio Lisa-Jean and several others. Used to wind the VFO up to Top Band sometimes too!! Good fun. Also "looked out" for Radio Jackie quite a lot (Jackie's now legal on 107.8 from Tolworth in case anyone hasn't heard).

 I recognise your name from the annals of radio history! That Viscount Radio really brings things home to me. My younger brother was the first in the house to get a transistor and it was one just like that. He saved his money so did not have to wait for radio. I had to wait until I was 13 and then I got a GEC Luxembourg transitor with a bandspread for Luxembourg.
