 I stumbled on your website while looking for info about Korea for a return trip this November (2008). Thanks for the great pictures & stories. It brought back many of my own life's greatest memories. I lived in Taegu for only 3 years (1963-66) where my father was a missionary surgeon at the Presbyterian Hospital & returned to the US when I was twelve. As brief as the time was, I still remember it as probably the happiest, most exotic of my life. It sometimes seems like yesterday & the memories are still remarkably vivid 4 decades later. It really was a magic time. I'm hoping to convey some of that to my kids (15 & 17) on this trip and your pics & stories have been very helpful. We are obviously contemporaries and even both lived in Taegu (Daegu) at some point. Although I don't believe we ever met there's still that connection that goes with having spent some of your younger years over there. Thanks, again.

I can furnish information for one of John B.Riedesel's Children and their children.....Jesse Ott Riedesel is my great grand father and his youngest daughter is my father's mother. I know little about John B Riedesel's other boy but I think he lived behind Jesse on 16th Street in Philadelphia. I have burial records and photos of the Philadelphia Riedesel Gravesite. We have the disadvantage of having this name mispelled inverting the i and e and sometimes adding an "r" making it reidersell.
I am interested in finding John B Riedesel's ancestors so his geneology can be completed to its origins in Germany.

Thank you for sharing the Pusan Swedish Hospital Photos from 1952-1953. My Father - Master Sargent Ruben O. Poss - was stationed there as part of a US Army Medical Detachment (8211th)in 1951-1952. He had a few photos of related areas and activities. Your Mother's photos are awesome!

He also operated the US Army NCO Club in Pusan and had a few photos of Swedish and US troops enjoying "niteclub" activities. I have been searching for persons still alive who may have known my Father back then. I suspect the same streets and activities were traveled and enjoyed by your Mother and my Father. Perhaps they even knew one another.

I downloaded some of your photos to compare with the one's my Father took to see if there are any common areas.

It was most interesting to "travel" with you and your Mother via the photos and your writings about Korea. I have throughly enoyed your pages. I also have enjoyed the Koreanwar.org website which is where I found reference to your website.

Thank you again for sharing!

Do you have any other photos that might show US Army Medical Activities? I would be curious to see if my Father or some of his friends would show up in any of your Mother's photos.

 Well,I think that the website, or the stories in this site about Korea are very interesting. Mainly because well hey if it was your mommy narrating the story you'd get a kick out of it too.Yuppy yup yup I just read a story about my mom.Wow. What a mind blower. I mean you think you know everything about your parents. Growing up I knew she lived in korea during her childhood.But, thats not the suprize. I guess I'm saying that looking at each generation of my family, my moms side of the family, my dads side, my life, where I come from, and the world in which my mother grew up in( Korea, during the Korean war)it kinda puts my mind in a whole new perspective. I mean I wasn't there. I could never touch, taste, see, or hear the life experiences of my mother.However, reading about it lets me understand a little bit more about... well I guess it just helps me understand more. Thats all.It's basically a biography on my mothers life- How do I interpret that? I mean it's her stories about how she grew up, her life experiences as a child and what not, and it's in a way odd reading about my mom. I was in her womb for 9 months, and now I'm all grown up and I'm looking at these old pictures of her when she was yeay big( 3 foot tall about maybe a year old) and I'm like " Dude that's my mom" Basically, over all it's an interesting read.I don't know how else to interpret my mom's life though the eyes off her son.There is a lot there to think about. It's kinda overwhelming cause even though I wasn't there it's still a part of my life too because " Dude thats my mom." Lol. Thank you so much for this slice of heaven. I haven't cried much over the last 20 years but your story brought wholesome tears of joy. I too remember Korea and though I know I can never go back to those days, somehow I found myself there this morning as I read you story.

The pictures reminded me of the Korea I knew. I remember climbing to the top of Chicken foot with the boy scouts and walking through rice patties but what I remember most of all was how genuine people were. The memories are deeper than just things I remember; I think I must have left part of my soul there. This morning you helped me find a part of myself that I had lost.

 Thank you for sharing your beautiful flowers. I love flowers and right now am reveling in the glory of my wisteria blossoms. I just bury my face in them and inhale their goregous scent. Unfortunately the snails ate my daffodils, but heck, they have to eat, too, I guess. Next my honey locust tree and star jasmine will begin to bloom and the air will be heavy with their spices. I love this time of year in Sacramento.

Not gardening this year we have just moved to colorado from maine and will be looking for land or a home first.
