| COMMENTS: | Dear Claude
A friend who knows I had known you and your wife many years ago in Poughkeepsie when you directed the Hudson Valley Philharmonic sent me a link for your website today!! My mother Caryl Seplow was on the board and I on the Junior board that often met at your very welcoming home. I recently found a wonderful CD collection of performances by your father including some of the performances you recorded with him of Bach, Gluck and a great performance of the Mozart D major concerto which I had on LP in High school and which I'm very happy to have once again. I hope this writing finds you in good health and I want you to know the concerts you conducted with so many great musicians who appeared with you had a great and profound impact for me and I remain a great lover of the music you introduced me to. Best, Andy Seplow Boston, Massachusetts |

| COMMENTS: | Dear Mr. Monteux, I have a recording of you playing Handel and Bach with a group called The Harpsichord Quartet. I have a question about the 2 Handel sonatas since I cannot find them in any Handel catalog. Would you know their HWV numbers? Thank you for your time. All the best. |

| COMMENTS: | A dear friend of the late Carol Matteson Robbins, wife of Clive Robbins, I recently found the Dance Sonata that Paul Nordoff wrote for you. On the last page is written, "Hunry Hollow Road, July-August 1953." Can you tell me anything about the circumstances of the writing of this composition? Is there a recording? Thank you. |

So much to say to you! I am a successful teacher and flutist because of you. I was recently hired for a pit gig. The director saw on my resume that I had studied with you and hired me because I studied with you! Miss you lots! Take care. Becky (Ferris) Eldrudge |

| COMMENTS: | Hi, as a young student of 15 or so,I met your father conducting a concert in Stockholm around 1960. I can still remember the face, figure and posture of this little old man introduced as one of Brahms' students which impressed me. Shortly after, I think it was in September 1961 I was lucky to meet with Igor Stravinski at a closed rehearsal before his performance of Rite of Spring. Tonight, I was rehearsing myself the Pearl Fisher that we are performing concertante in Gothenburg on 25 April. By googling on its composer Bizet I came to Berlioz and suddenly I came upon Pierre Monteux, your father. A couragious and nice man! Lave Thorell |

| COMMENTS: | Hello Mr. Monteux,
My ex-husband David, our dog Sam and I rented the little cottage next to your house for about a year and a half in 1978-79. He was stationed at the Naval base in Winter Harbor. Although I've loved classical music since childhood, I'm embarrassed to say that, being young and naive in 1978, I didn't realize how famous my landlord was. How many times since then I've wished I could relive that time now knowing who you are! Haven't been back to Maine since then, but this weekend my fiance and I are driving to Deer Isle to visit friends for several days and I hope to get the chance to also drive up to the "old stomping ground." I recall that short time in Maine with much fondness. I remember how I used to hear Freddy's car warming up right outside my window in what seemed like the middle of the night as he prepared to fly off somewhere and how Sam used to wander through the field in front of the house eating blueberries right off the bushes. My fiance and I are both active in the choral arts, currently singing with the Lancaster Chamber Singers and doing some solo and duet work. I hope you and Marianne are well and enjoying life! My best wishes to you both. |

| COMMENTS: | Hello Claude, How are you ??? I think of you often remembering Poughkeepsie lessons and your Maine Masterclass (summer l975)...and our "famed" performance of the Debussy Trio (with Diedra Carr, harp, and Louis Tavelli, viola).
My name was Bujak then. Carlos and I may be in Maine next month for a bit. Are you still located there summers? Would be wonderful to have the opportunity to see you again and have Carlos meet you (flutist from San Juan) |

| COMMENTS: | Greetings,Mr.Monteux,
As i know your father was a very important Berlioz conductor, i have always wondered, did he ever conduct the monumental Berlioz La Grande Symphonie Funebre et Triomphale? In your own career, have you ever conducted it? It is one of my personal favourite works of all time. Thank you very much. My current up-dated e-mail address-rea.doug@yahoo.ca |

| COMMENTS: | Claude! How are you? I was recently thinking of you and the few but wonderful moments we've shared including the privilege of having you as a chamber music coach in Maine and dropping in to SD to celebrate New Year's (maybe 5 years ago?). I've been busy with my job (see my link!) and all kinds of other things I can fill you in on later. Drop me a line when you get a chance - I'd love to hear from you! Love, Kate |

| COMMENTS: | I participated in a summer in Maine when I was 18 years old and I was just writing about what a fabulous time I had -mI remember staying with a family from Tulsa, OK, and playing topless trios in the woods. Also, Henry Brant came to conduct his concerto in the church. Wonderful memories. I still play, although i started dancing in college and made that my focus for a long time. Now I teach music in a charter school here in Philadelphia.
