(by Lily Weinacht) I'm riding my horse on a summer's day, bouncing merrily on her back. I hold on with my legs and steer with my feet, there is no need for tack. We ramble along wherever we please, there is no cause for haste. But down by the brook a lanky hare challenges us to a race. I hold my mare back - but only a little, we lope along sure and swift. The hare runs alongside, still we're pulling ahead, and I feel my spirits lift. Her legs stretching out, my mare takes the lead, and we leave the little hare behind. Catching our breath, my girl and I, we go for a creek to find. In the water we plunge, and oh it is cold! yet we linger there long and I laugh, when my mare shakes herself and I nearly fall off. How quickly the noonday has passed! We slowly ride home at a tired walk, happy, as the footpath we follow. The sun is setting as the crickets all sing, and I know we'll be back here tomorrow. |

She trusts you with everything. For her life she looks at you She enjoys your voice and company… And grain and carrots too. In her heart and soul there’s only love. To you it has your name. She looks for love and comfort You give her what she needs, From water, grain, and carrots; To hay and yummy treats If she bites your fingers Every now and then, It not to be mean In the heart is where the love is seen. She can only do what you taught her; If she does that you should be glad Other horses know different things; so don’t compare and don’t get mad. and bareback with out any tack. We resemble the way the indians ride with their mocasins and beadwork, and buffalo hide. With the ultimate bond between rider and horse so free, and so gentle without any force. Liberty and jumping is the way we go, voice cues, and leg cues, and really loud woes. Working hard is the way we suceed, and helping others when they are in need. "I can't" is a phrase that we never say, because you can and you will in every way. You will go above and beyond what you think you can do, I know that I did and you will too! Ask lots of questions when you don't understand everyone is willing to lend a hand. Take the instructors advice I know it has helped me, it can help you be the best you can be. This team is amazing is all I can say. From the life-long friendships, and uplifting neighs. Congratulations! You all did a wonderful job. My mom talked to one of the judges, Penny, who gushed about how impressed she was by you all. She is even talking about her daughter possibly joining the club next year, she was so amazed! I especially want to recognize all our queen contestants: Erica, Becky, Jessika, and Ashley. This is the first year all the girls exceeded the minimum horsemanship score, meaning they were all good enough to be queen! I honestly didn't know who would win, they were all so good. Congrats to our wonderfully deserving new royalty and a special thanks to our outgoing girls, Alyssa, Dani, and MaKenna. You were wonderful. |

| Comments: | I saw your performance at the Fortuna Rodeo. It was the highlight of the rodeo for me. I told my husband that in my next life I wanted to come back as an EhCapa Bareback Rider. In my youth I rode bareback and knew there were ways to control your horse with legs, leaning, etc. But never had the chance for training and practice. You are so great at what you do. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you. I'll be looking for you again.

I rode back when Janis was the drill instructor, Neenie Blake was Queen, and I rode three horses in my Eh-Capa time, Comanche-- Paul's Pizza(also known as Red), and Valerie Moon (Val as she was affectionately known, except for when she bucked me off
during the sixteen abreast jump at the Snake River Stampede (back when it was held in downtown Nampa) then she was known as Vanessa, Valerie's evil twin))-- I loved riding in Eh-Capa,the times I had there are some of my fondest memories. Treasure your years here riders, for they are truly special times. |
