| Comments: | I am a long time Friend of Michael & Byrd's, and a long time customer of "The Bear". I grew up 2 blocks away from the "The Bear" and though I am now living in the Virgin Islands I still sport my GLB bumperstickers and get to the the Bear every time I visit Maine, as it is one of my favorite places to go. We have a Micro Brewery here but it does't compare to the vast amount of good draft that you can get there. If you wnat good food and beer don't bother with the Old Port, just hit Forest Ave.

| Comments: | Hey All!!!!
Just wanted to drop a line to say hello. I made it to phoenix and am wondering how long I will last in this valley heat. I have yet to find a watering hole like the Great Lost Bear. I found a bar with 113 microbrews about 15 min from where I live. I ordered an Anderson IPA. The bartender looked mortified and asked me if I was ready for the hops. My reply was of course.....Little did he know. When I was still standing straight after a few he told me I won his heart. Hahaha!!! Thanks to the GLB I can handle the hoppy beers. I miss you all and am hoping to be back in Maine the end of July through August and then who knows. My very first stop will be the Great Lost Bear of course. Love ya, Carmen. |

I'M GONNA BE A BEAR..... In this life, I'm a woman. In my next life, I'd like to be a bear. When you are a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing for six months. I could deal with that. Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that too. When you are a female bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you are sleeping, and wake to partially grown, cute, cuddly cubs. I could definately deal with that. If you are a momma bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs are out of line, you swat them too. I think I could deal with that. If you're a bear, your mate expects you to wake up growling. He expects that you will have hairy legs. He adores your excess body fat. Yep, I'm gonna be a bear. There's undoubtedly some people I have known that already think I am....... Edd S. |

| Comments: | I was just recently in Maine via Boston, and went to great lost bear on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. other than the kid wearing a top hat eating behind me, this place was amazing. Nice and friendly service and great food. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely stop in |

| Comments: | i was so impressed by how friendly the staff was. the food was pretty good, and the beer was heavenly. there were so many options. the place itself is welcoming, with lots of kitschy stuff hanging on the walls, which is nice when you don't feel like paying attention to the people/person/girlfriend that you're with. we sat in the outdoor patio, which was comfortable. i was a little disappointed with the music, and the group of burly sorority chicks that arrived midway through our meal, mais c'est la vie. if you are a clueless tourist, ask for emily. she will guide you to places you've only dreamed of. every morning that i drink my coffee out of my great lost bear mug, i cry. |

| Comments: | Great lost Bear has over 50 beers on tap. This is one of my favorite places to have a beer and some good food. They have an extensive menu that should satisfy any taste buds. They also have 5 ounce sampler glasses that are really cool and allows one to taste several brews. My favorite thing on the menu is the chili burger! Really good. It has a really friendly atmosphere that makes your first visit feel like you have been going there your whole life. |

| Comments: | Growling Bear.
there you be on the distant northeastern coast I remember so well and most often crave. It is early morning on the tall grass praire of Oklahoma; the beginning of another uselessly hot day. Garden crops will strain to survive trying the reach the post Labor Day cooling when the remnants of plants will spring to live and have the energy to bear fruit. Here now I sit having perused your beer and ale list from a place where most country bars and roadhouses serve domestic 3.2 beer. I remember sitting at your bar and discovering Bar Harbors Blueberry Ale with the scent of the blueberry fields wafting from the glass and the taste refreshing with each sip and bottom of the glass guzzle. My first cup of perculated coffee is barely touched yet. You provide me with a wake up surprise in the visage of the coquettish and playful Meg at the wheel of ales. Thank you purverors of pleasure and hospitality most grand. When cool weather arrives I must hitchhike to the Atlantic Coastal Plain and with relief and with an expultion of yesteryear's air from my lungs enter into your fine establishment once again, or twice. whatever the wheel lands on will be fine with me; this old man will feel at home. | Comments: | Happy New Year..........
It has been over a decade since I left Maine and the Great Lost Bear is one of the places I have missed. Bar Harbor's Blueberry was my favorite ale. I always enjoyed the atmosphere, the ales , the staff and other patrons. When a good friend in Sweden told me he was returning to Maine after many years abroad telling him of your joint was a pleasure and now the first communication of the new year was James giving me your website and lauding your meals. He is a factidious fellow and his complements are worthy. Whenever I make it back to the great State O Maine your establishment is on the list of "must dos".
