| Comments: | Happy New Year..........
It has been over a decade since I left Maine and the Great Lost Bear is one of the places I have missed. Bar Harbor's Blueberry was my favorite ale. I always enjoyed the atmosphere, the ales , the staff and other patrons. When a good friend in Sweden told me he was returning to Maine after many years abroad telling him of your joint was a pleasure and now the first communication of the new year was James giving me your website and lauding your meals. He is a factidious fellow and his complements are worthy. Whenever I make it back to the great State O Maine your establishment is on the list of "must dos". Although, on the bright side, I still see that wonderful southern man who works on the dish station....Mmmmmm..... |

We'll be there for the "CUP"! Although I'm a little concerned not seeing the Bar Harbor Blueberry on the tap list?? What's up with that?
See you in 3 weeks! |

| Comments: | Probably the best bar I have ever visited. THE BEST chili I have ever had. 52 beers on tap! It is truly amazing. I love all the bar knick-knacks this place has; so much stuff on the walls to look at, old beer trays, coasters from all over the world, old beer cans,. signs, patches, photos, all kinds of stuff. Great sandwiches here. This is the perfect pub / bar menu.
This place has mastered the formula for the perfect bar. |

| Comments: | Greetings.
I've been coming to The Bear since it opened and it's been one of my favorite hangs, since that time. Over the last couple of years, my wife and I have grown real fond of double IPAs, barleywines, and imperial stouts. We've done our best to communicate this inclination to various members of your staff, in hopes that The Bear would be willing to use one or more of its taps for each of these categories. No luck, so far. I'd think that, properly labeled on the beer menu (so drinkers know they're getting extra malt, extra hops, and extra alcohol). . . I'd think you'd develop a following in a hurry. Over the last year or so, to get our rowdy beers on tap, we've been to the Sunset Grill and Tap (in Allston) half a dozen times, The Barleypub (in Dover, NH) several times, and more recently at Sebago (in the Mall; where they had their double IPA on offer) four or five times. Our next beer outing will be to The Barleypub, where the following are among those listed on tap (as of 6/12): Rogue I2PA...2005 Smuttynose Big-A IPA...2005 Smuttynose Barleywine...2006 Franconia Notch Barleywine Smuttynose Imperial Stout Only 15 taps and they're serving 2 double IPAs, 2 barleywines, and an imperial stout. And they seem always to have a similar assortment. Any chance you could match this kind of menu so we don't have to drive all the way to Dover? Thanks in advance for any time you give this request. --Steve |

Escaped Amerikkka - miss the Bear. The atmosphere - the vibe - the music, the people - and the snacks, food and beer. Have made a few special trips at night in the past craving for those mushrooms and peppary sauce. I look at the website once in awhile here in Sweden knowing for sure that the next time I'm in the USA, I'll be on my way to the Great Lost Bear just as soon as I'm finished at Gritty's !
