Favourite Green Lantern: Green Lantern? Screw you! Parallax rocks!
Comments:Personally, I thought Hal's fall into Parallax is one of the best GL story, too bad DC resurrected Hal just to please the fanboys. Seriously, Hal's death as Parallax showed just how much human Hal is, not like some stereo-typical hero. Personally I prefer Kyle over Hal when I have to choose, the only reason I ever liked Hal was because he turned into Parallax.

Heck, Kyle has currently turned into the modern Parallax, you don't see Kyle fans b*tch*ng about it do you?

I'm glad that Kyle as Parallax kicked Hal's ass in the recent comics. Thank You Parallax.

Favourite Green Lantern: Hal Jordan and Alan Scott
Comments:Green Lantern is a story about heroes. About light over darkness. About good versus evil. About overcomming fear. Wheras Alan Scott was the first to bear the name, Hal Jordan was the finest. His fearlessness made him the best at what he does, being an icon to many. While reading the story Green Lantern Rebirth, I was shown what a great character Hal was. Of course, my Dad having read a few comic books and telling me, I knew the whole test pilot origin. In Rebirth, I learned why he was chosen. Like Batman, he witnissed his father die(In a different manner) doing what he loved. He was fearless. He wore his dads jacket while this happened, always vowing to wear it right. Green Lantern is one of my favorite stories of all time, even making me want to write for him someday. I actually bought a reprint of Hals first appearance(as well as one of Alan Scotts-who I also admire alot) and was amazed at the whole jist of it. I had the very first Hal story in my hand...and it was almost humbling. Scratch that, it was humbling.

You know what I think? Green Lantern needs its own movie. It should star Hal Jordan, and have the story Emerald Dawn as the story. Although I have not read the actual story, I have heard things about it and desperatley want to read it. Of course, they should throw in some of the flashback scenes from Rebirth too. Hugo Weaving should play Sinestro. Wouldn't he be awesome though? I also think that the movie should have a huge supporting cast, having other Green Lanterns cameo, including Alan Scott. He could have a cool mentor type role in the movie or something.

Until next time...Cya!!!

Hal was a hell of a ladies man up here to... Glad to have him back on earth for a while. Anyhow. Looks like we have a few nay sayers and worse disrespectful degenerits that swear like the uneducated morons they are. there is no call for that. This is a friendly place and I might add a place where one can post their opionion.. is one better than another. Who knows. Either way we have a say but being a low class dirtbag and swearing in a public forum is just really low rent.

In regard to Black Power, Wonderful as long as white power, and brown power, and yellow power and everyother power is ok to say too.

Someone cant jump up and say white power without being called a racist. So the same holds true for someone who says black power. We are all the same there is and one of these days we are going to realise color doesnt matter..

Comments:I'd like to thank you folks at HEAT for taking up the cause of Hal Jordan and the unfortunate problem of comic book publishers killing off beloved heroes only to replace them with pale imitations. The return of Hal Jordan has rekindled my interest in comics. I don't think that HEAT should stop simply because Hal is back. The same effort could be used to pressure DC comics to restore Barry Allen as the Flash, Barbara Gordon as Batgirl and Donna Troy as Wondergirl. Please don't let them kill the Blue Beetle! The point being that Golden and Silver age heroes have been defined and refined and do not need alteration. Please use the momentum of this triumph to reclaim these and other classic characters. Thanks for your great work! Hal lives!

Comments:I've been doing a little research, but have yet to find a compilation of the Action Comics Weekly run. This is slightly frustrating to me, as I have tried to make as complete a collection as I can of back-issues but have no desire to spend a hundred dollars on second-rate stories about characters of whom I've never heard.

Personally, I prefer Kyle as a character and only started collecting when he took over the title. And I am extremely unhappy with DC for never being able to choose a storyline and stick with it. In fact, I'm tempted to drop my subscription rather than continue buying a comic when I don't know if everything said in the past five years will suddenly become irrelevant when a new editor comes on board.

I wanted to say that to make it clear that, despite my preferences in terms of lead-character, I would like to see the forgotten stories (that were very relevant to the Green Lantern storyline) collected in a trade paperback or some other such medium. If even one such as I would be interested, there may in fact be a market.

And I am writing to you specifically because you and those like you have demonstrated a certain tenacity in your fandom to an older character. And perhaps if you were similarly interested in such a project, the collective muscle of a few devoted fans would convince DC to present those stories for the general Green Lantern-reading public, which appears to be growing.

Comments:^^^^Wow.

Truly unbelievable.

Here you have various individuals attacking H.E.A.T. members in the most vicious of ways.

Yet H.E.A.T. has always been about peacefully expressing an opinion--that Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps are comics icons with vast potential--and an opinion, that Hal Jordan and the GL Corps. should be returned to the DCU (at the expense of no other character, I might add) so that new generations of comics readers can enjoy such a great concept.

The hypocrisy behind these posts is amazing, and it's also quite funny how the assailants insults better describe themselves than those they attack.

Finally, if I were Brian Michael Bendis, I'd be getting my lawyer to track down your IP addresses. It's one thing to clearly demarcate that you're referencing the Brian Michael Bendis that works for Marvel Comics. It's quite another to assume his identity and link to his personal message board.

Anyway, H.E.A.T., many thanks for the work you've done in the last ten years. I truly believe that your efforts were responsible in some way for Hal and the Corps's return.

I also think it's really great that you were able to help GL's co-creator get to a con before his death. He deserved the accolades and the fan attention. I don't doubt that you provided him with a shining memory to cherish as he looked back on his life before passing on. God bless you for that!

Comments:Come one people, it's not the 1970's. Hal has been dead for a long time and hasn't been green lantern longer. Why bring back the past, it would be like DC bringing back Barry as the flash, it was hard for me to see Wally as the Flash at first but now everyone has accepted it. No one went around and protesting Barry dying like Hal. Hal went off and killed a bunch of his comrades if you don't remember that, I suggest you pick that issue of green lanter up and read. I don't remember Kyle doing that, but since sales are not up they are bringing that fossil back Jordan. I like Geoff Johns and his writing, what he as does with The Flash and the JSA are great, but why would you dig up a fossil like Jordan and say that he is a hero. He isn't a hero, when he is killed the whole corps, the guardians and Sinestro. He is a murderer, who should not even gotten the role of the Spectre. You don't see Jordan on any DC TV roles. Their probably is a reason for that. In all I am dissapointed that DC would bring back a murderer but they are, so you freaks that wanted Jordan back, hope that your happy, and I hope that it does not last.

Comments:Alot of people get uptight about the whole Hal Jordan thing. I say his descent into maddness and subsequent demise make him one of the most human and believable characters in superhero comics ever. I think that bringing him 'back to life' so to speak, and reinstating him as the green lantern, would greatly detract from a very cool story. I like his whole spectre gig...he's still got that green thing going on. Stop being such big fucking babies and get over it. Hal Jordan is dead. Long live Hal Jordan...

i am very glad that they are doing so, much as i am happy, i am also intrigued by how they will bring him back and maintaining him as an A lister in the comics realm, and how they will deal with kyle, are they going to rub him out just as nonchalantly as Ron Marz did, since they all felt that Hal was irreversibly passe and the only thing they could do was make him into a bad caricature of a villain, then hero-martyr then reincarnated spirit of vengeance.

i sincerely hope that they do whatever they're doing with dignity. and the use of some brain matter...

Favourite Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner
Comments:I realized that a lot of you like Hal Jordan, but you need to remember that he was the Silver Age Green Lantern, and there was no official Modern Age Green Lantern.

Sure, you can gripe about how they turned him into Parallax, or even the Spectre. I griped about the second one, until I had seen how effective he was in issues 150 and 155 of Green Lantern, as well as the current issue of The Flash.

But, I would also like to see a reintroductions of the Green Lanterns, and even make major changes to their history that would effect the DCU in the future. They did it to Superman, like three times, so why not for others?

For example, I would have all the limited series be put out in the same time. I would have five versions be put out, after Ron Marz finishes up his storyline, as long as he does not end Kyle's reign. I would also, as I said before, modernize their origins, and try to include characters they only talked about. Thus, this is what I would do...

Emerald Dawn: In my retelling, Alan Scott would be more aimed at being a hard working man who does not trust the one of the people that he works for. I would include a conflict with that character, the trials he went through as a Green Lantern, and it would somewhat end with the birth of his daughter as well, and have a better ending... That would take place in the future.

Emerald Light: I would have Hal Jordan be more like Macross Plus's Isamu. He would be a wreckless pilot who was forced to tone down his ways and become a test pilot. His rival would be a young woman, that he would later fall in love with. "Pieface" would be in it as well, as well as other cast members. And down the line, he would be portrayed as a person who forgot it was like to be just Hal Jordan. He would marry the woman, but she would run away after finding out Hal's secret. This would make him find himself again, with the help of Green Arrow. And when he finally does, he goes back to Coast City, only to find out what happened. And this would lead to what happened... And ends as he does what he feels was right, and becomes Parallax. But do not get angry, as it would reflect Hal Jordan as the GL's former and future guiding light, hence the name.

Emerald Fire (or Emerald Flame): This would portray both the rise and fall of both John Stewart and Guy Gardner. First hald would be of John, and would blend facts from the comics... As well as the Justice League animated series.

Emerald Night: This would include the stuff Ron Marz wanted to do with Parallax. Plus, I would portray him as both a hero and anti-hero. A hero, by undoing some of what he had done, through Zero Hour. He would be more like Darth Vader was in Star Wars. A person who is full of hate towards those he claimed betrayed him, and sorrow towards those whom he betrayed. He would try to make a silver age world, which would have conflicted with reality, almost causing another Crisis. But in the end, he would speak out for those who are his fans, as well those he betrayed in the comics. Thus saying, "I feel that fate had betrayed me. I feel that I have betrayed myself. I don't blame those who created my destiny, and I hope nobody else will. Kyle, you were like the son I never had. Please be the hero I once was. I am sorry everybody, this is what I have to do." Thus, making his sacrifice, and dying as a hero.

Emerald Knight: This would be about Kyle Rayner, and his trials as a Green Lantern, and what kind of person Hal Jordan was. All I can say is if Ron Marz does not end his reign, I would have it end with Kyle talking to John Stewart about bringing back the Corps. It would have what Ron Marz wanted. Kyle as the GL of Earth, and John as the leader of the Green Lantern Corp.

The issues would be 12 issues long, and would focus on their year one stuff. It would also have the last issue reveal what to expect.

With Alan Scott, I would follow up the birth of his daughter with several pages that involve the birth of his first grandchild.

With Hal Jordan's first book, I would show the future of Coast City. I would also reveal him, possibly as Parallax, smile as a child gives his statue a thumbs up.

And with Hal Jordan's second book, I would have the Guardians redeem their past mistakes with him, thus it's their own fault. They would form two cadet teams, the Ion and Parallax teams, so they would have Green Lantern Cadets. I would also try to have this lead to a new Parallax series.

With the John Stewart part, which would blend in with Guy Gardner's, I would have him bring in a few of the new Corp members. And one or two would be those people would reconize.

And with Kyle Rayner, I would have it end with him marrying Jade... And then connect to Alan Scott's ending.

Anyway, what do you guys and gals think? While I know for a fact that Kyle, as Ion, did try to bring Hal back as Green Lantern, Hal himself said it would be pointless... As what was done, was done. See Green Lantern #150.

I would also start the series with issue 1, and try to have some minor ties to both JLA and a new Green Lantern Corp series.

So all I can say is try to understand and accept what is done. Hal Jordan is still around, and is trying to redeem himself. And maybe they will find a way to making him be a key element to the Green Lantern mythos, again, without doing any major screw ups to the continuity.

That is all I can say... And please ask me who I would trust with the writings and art for each limited series. You may like my choices. ;)

Comments:Sure, Hal has had the most coverage for the latter half of the 20th century, but Alan Scott's journey as GL has been as full of twists and turns. Plus DC did not kill him off.
It is noble to re-instate Hal Jordan as an active character, especially if some type of film (live action/special effects or animated) is to become reality for us GL fans. The problem lies in continuity.
To start a GL movie or animated series, I believe it would be fitting and appropriate to start with the golden age Green Lantern and in that context re-set the Green Lantern storylinage.
After all, how many times has it been done with the big red S? Think about it.

Comments:I loved Hal back in the day, but I have to admit that after the constant tweaking of him during "Emerald Dawn" and that whole post Crisis period...the character became cardboard. What DC did to him, turning him into a massive villian, who eventually redeemed himself, was a great twist on a classic character, and one which at the time I applauded.

While I didn't like Kyle at first, his character has grown on me, and I now think that he is so much more developed than Hal had been.

I respect H.E.A.T.'s position, but I don't agree with it.

The Spectre, fine and dandy great to see Hal again, is not who Hal is or ever will be. Hal IS Green Lantern just as Green Lantern is Hal. Not only did DC kill a great character once they did it again by cancelling the Spectre. Can someone PLEASE give Hal a break? Why not kill Superman off again & keep it that way!! His death is the reason the corp & Hal died. If it wasnt for the Cyborg Hal, Coast City, & the Corps would be here!!!! BRING BACK THE BEST, THE GREATEST, THE ONLY HAL JORDAN GREEN LANTERN

I'm not sure if many of you have heard much of Jon, but yes, I do think we should make Hal the new Lantern, and besides Jon is only in a few comics and is on the new show. I know I'm not as big of a fan as most of you but I will help you in any way I can to bring back Hal. I can get a few more people to join if I can convince them that the corp is cool. Favourite Green Lantern: Hal Jordan
Comments:I have been in the Navy and stationed at various places overseas since the early 90's. I haven't followed comics for MANY years and my travels didn't leave me much opportunities to do so at the time. I've been back and out of the service for a few years and have started to pick up a book here and there. As a young boy, I grew up hiding under my covers with a flashlight following the adventures of Spiderman and the Green Lantern. When I picked up a couple of comics a few weeks ago and imagine my surprise at some of the changes. What I found as most strange was that Hal Jordan wasn't even mentioned in the story anymore. So, I started doing some research on the Net and found myself here at HEAT. After finding out what happened to the the character of Hal Jordan, I found that I was very saddened by how times have changed. Everyone says how things were always better back in 'my day'. Cartoons were better. Teachers were better. People were better. That may only be the perception of each generation, but I've definitely found one thing, the fantastic heros we followed in the childhood were better. The people that worked at DC and paid tribute and honored the legacy of heros like Green Lantern were better. Yes, it may have been a simplier time. Yes, change may have ultimately been what was going to happen to the Green Lantern character. Never, ever would those people that shared their childhood dreams of having superpowers and saving the world in our comic books have treated a hero like the way the Hal Jordan character was. I have no interest in the new Green Lantern. The new story and new character may be very good. It's not about him. It's about how DC treated a generation or more of readers that supported their comics and everyone that worked on the Green Lantern stories for years. It's about how they tarnished the GLC legacy and did so with disregard for all. I'm sorry that I fell into a sermon. I'm only glad that I don't waste my money on a company that would do that to their fans.

Favourite Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner.
Comments:Come on already, get over it. Kyle is now Green Lantern. Hal had his turn and it was time for a new generation to take his place. This is a great site, but you fail to realize DC's point of view. It wasn't that Hal was a boring character, it was time for a change. They explored all alternatives and found the one they took to really make a lasting change.

Kyle will eventually become the greatest of the GLs and surpass even Hal Jordan, but he deserves to be given a chance. It least Kyle respects Hal and the legacy that he has inherited rather than disgrace it. I am very upset that you have to put down Ron Marz and current writer Judd Winick for their direction on GL. Give those guys a chance. They have a right to have their stories be told.

I respect the opinons of Alex Ross and Neal Adams, but they must understand that heroes die and new people take their places. Hal is a classic hero, but its better to have a new hero and have him/her find their place in the pantheon of heroes.

I believe that GL Corps will return one day, Kyle will be viewed as the one who held the torch when no one else was willing to do so or unable. Kyle does have a lot to learn and will make mistakes, he is growing to become a great hero but so did Hal. It was just Hal allowed his personal demons to destroy him, Kyle is a better person because at least he is dealing with his issues.

I respect Hal and his run on GL, but give Kyle a chance. If you cannot, that is your opinon. Don't downgrade anyone who likes Kyle Rayner.

Favourite Green Lantern: Of course Hal
Comments:As of late being Dead and all I get to watch the goings on in the living world. Hell what else do I have to do these days. Anyway having spent alot of time speaking with Hal himself when he was in heaven and as the Spectre I noticed that Hal seems to cling to his GL garb. While even in the ghostly garments he wears. This is because he loved the corps more than he loved himself. Yes he did indeed have a moment of insanity as a result of a moment of calamity and destruction. He found himself after causing great destruction himself. But only after trying to set things right afterwards. Remember he set out to return things back to normal and heal the multiverse this included the Corps as well. That was all part of the plan. He needed the power to fix the wrongs that had occured. He set out on that quest and was stopped by the hero's of the DC universe.
But to be more accurate the he fought against the writers at DC. You see many of which are new and have there own idea's of how the DC universe must flow. But for the sake of newness and a chance to prove themselves they themselves set forth on the destruction of the DCU not Hal. Hal was mearly trying to preserve it. Many among the living and of course amongst the dead (Like me) long for the DCU to be set back to the way it was. Yes this includes Hal as GL numero uno but more than that it includes the Multiverse itself. As you'll notice explaining the fact that the JSA and JLA are in the same universe contermands the entire history of this and every other DC epic. Did the JSA do this or not. Did they battle this group and win with the aid of the JLA who along this new formed Single-verse not. I think as do all my Dead pals think that the DCU is wanting as of late. Restoring the multiverse and putting things the way they were should be a more interesting feat as well as a great storyline. Do the wrighters of the DCU have the talent to re-wright such an event. Maybe and maybe not. Are they so talented that they cannot see the merrits of the history of the DCU before the Infinite earth's crisis.
The Crisis was awesome. Hell I just sent all my crisis books to get CGC'd the other day. (Painfull postage from Heaven to Jersey and back) A first atempt to look back as this was Done by the team on the Series Kindom Come. Awesome storyline. Great concept and guess what it was a success, why do you ask because it didnt have the same Diet-Pepsi taste to it. The DCU todays is like a bottle of Diet Soda that doesnt have any bubbles left. Its kinda flat.
Be Smart Restore the Multiverse continue this part of the DCU but restore the others as well. I was speaking with Black Canary the other day.. (here in heaven we have several). She said to me hell I dont know who I'm watching or how I got thereand from where I got the from. It's confusing to us Folks in Hero Heaven too.
She also asked who is that BlackCanary with Ollie. She was just with him a few months ago back in HeroHeaven. Guess maybe the fabric of the universe is still in a twist. The Fabric of the universe is made of of many fabrics among them spandex the fabric of choice for many of us former and current hero's. I must say to the DC Folk the fabric you have the hero's wearing now itches and doesnt fit quite right.

Comments:Listen I gave my ring to Hal not that half baked kyle raynor. I would have never given that litle snot a ring.
As for Guy Gardner When I had the choice I picked Hal and would do so again if I wasn't dead. There are rumors floating around that there was a third.. this is Total bS. I think this comes from the fact that DC needed a Black hero to fill out the line. As you know I gave it a white guy. But it had nothing to do with color hell I'm bright red.
Anyway I gotta say John Stewart is a horrible green lantern. Did you guys miss the mossiac? I guess DC went once again looking for a Black hero and I guess since blacklighting shorted out we dusted off John Stewart again. Shoved his narrow minded fanny back in a pair of green tights and forgave him for all his short comings. Look being a member of the GL Corps teaches us to be tolerant and to look past ones color and features. Hell half the corps aren't even Bi-Peds. But alas poor John Stewart never could get passed color and this made him an angry green lantern. Unable and unwilling to fullfill his function as one. Didnt anybody else look at his past failures in just about every costume he has worn?

Anyway Just some ramblings of an Old Dead Red Guy.

They definately should bring back Hal as space sector 2814's GL, forget Kyle and the Spetre. And of course..."In brightest day, In darkest night, No evil shall escape my sight, Let those who worship evil's might, BEWARE MY POWER, GREEN LANTERN LIGHT!!!"

Comments:i fully support the re-instatement of the Corps; i am, however, a fairly big fan of Kyle Rayner. as a writer i can see why Hal was dethroned, nevertheless what you are doing in fantastic. Hal is a big part of the Corps, and it seems to me the best way for lantern fans of old and new schools to "have [our] cake and eat it too" is to start the Quarterly back up again with Hal attempting to attone for his actions by single-handed rebuilding the Corps, seeking out new members and the like. this way, we, Kyle-fans can still have our dealing with life as a Lantern, while catching a glimpse of Hal's redemption through the Quarterly. just a thought.

Comments:Hey guys. I was a die hard Hal Jordan fan. I was heartbroken to see his slip into insanity and become Parallax, and die. At first I was outraged and demanded to see Hal come back, much the way I was pissed to see Barry Allen ( my favorite hero) die and be replaced by someone I deemed unworthy. But I eventually opened up to Wally West and Kyle Rayner and saw they were every bit the hero Hal and Barry were. I admire your cause, but I feel we should let Hal rest in peace.

Comments:Didn't start reading GL until the Kyle Rayner era.
The first issue I picked up was one with Superman guest
starring in it.
To be honest mainly reading Superman and Supergirl now
and haven't picked up a GL for a longish time.
I think it be nice for Hal to come back and have the same
sort of relationship with Kyle that Jay Garrick has with
Wally West in FLASH.
P.S.Please don't kill me just 'cause I like Kyle.:)

Comments:i was saddened by the demise of my childhood hero and the greatest GL the corps ever had, and have just finished mourning. the last gl comic i bought was #50 until very recently but i now accept that hal will not be returning. kyle will never be a better character and making him the only green lantern for a while never made him the best one. now the writer for dc, winick, has not threatened the main character but the green flame itself with this new ion. GL is one of the original five super hero's that emerged after WW2 and are still around.
ion? bah.

Hal Jordan will never return if people don't let thier voices be heard.

Favourite Green Lantern: Hal: The ONLY true GL
Comments:Like others, I have watched the GL series (all of them. . . ) since Hal's debut over 40 years ago. Easily the most formidable of the DCU hero list, Hal also had the sensitivity and vulnerability that made him more human than any of the other DCU characters. Hal faced foes far more powerful than he - consider Sinestro and the yeoow ring that often confounded even the Guardians - yet overcame them through his bravery and willingness to confront his own limitations. To me, these are the signs of a true hero. In developing himself from the inside out, Hal showed us all what it meant to be heroic. I was shocked and angry with what DC has done to Hal. Hal - the Spectre? (Say it isn't so.) Bring Hal back as the once and future GL.

Comments:I thought Emerald Twillight was the greatest GL Story ever told. Hal had been slowly heading towards losing it for quite a while. True the story was a bit rushed and would have been better had Ron [Marz] had more than 3 issues to tell the tale, but as is, I still loved it.
As far as Hal as Spectre... Terrible move. Hate the new title. Time for Hal to go to his just rewards for a lifetime of heroing.
