Why would these bodies be so beautifully preserved? Wouldn't the body of the saint be left to enrich the earth like most of ours, and the spirit of the saint be remembered in these shrines? I have recently read "Heaven, Hell and Purgatory" and "This is My Body, This is My Blood" by Bob and Penny Lord who have appeared on EWTN a number of times. These books were very informative just as your wonderful site is. I have literally spent the better part of a day going over each and every link as well as viewing the incorrupt bodies of the Saints and going over the Eucharistic Miracles. I think not; if you carefully read this guest book, time after time, it proved to be the instrument to bring people closer or back to Jesus. To be a Christian, you don't have to believe the phenomena of Incorrupt Bodies of the Saints, you must love Jesus. And if the actuality of many, many, holy people whose bodies happened to be incorrupt, despite the normal processes of death, brings people back to Jesus and God, then how can you argue it. Do you think satan wants people to be reminded of the awesomeness and wonder of God? I think not. God Bless! |

In the book AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI by Paramhansa Yogananda, published by the Self-Realization Fellowship, a 20th century holy man from India, it states that when he died back in the 1950s, in California, that his body did not decompose. It sometimes happens to spiritual persons who are non-Catholic. It is also mentioned in the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying (the new translation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead). The whole topic of incorruptibility is fascinating. I believe the same loving God watches over all of us, all over the world. God bless! |

I recall reading elsewhere that the body of Pope John XXIII required frequent attention from the undertaker(s)during the "wake" (traditional public display in the Cathedral) due to inadequate embalming. This makes the recently discovered apparent preservation all the more remarkable. As an aside, HBO's "Autopsy" series showed the incorrupt body of Medgar Evers (assasinated in the 1960's) and examination by Dr. Michael Baden, Chief Forensic Examiner-New York State Police (Albany Medical Center). Dr. Baden said "a miracle." |
