I live in Nebraska, and frankly far too many peoeple here seem to pay little attention to the environmental crisis here, until it affects the personally. Locally there are major concerns, with how the two largest cities in Nebraska, Omaha and Lincoln, are going to handle growth issues, both towns seem hellbent on size over the quality of the urban planning that is occuring. We've also seeing (hopefully) an end to an ill-conceived plan to build a low-level radioactive waste dump near the northern border of our state, on a wetland no less!!! We also have the threat of large scale corporate hog farms trying to move into the state to pollute our rural communities. Do we really want that for ourselves and our children? I don't think anyone truly desires it, but far too many peoeple here are complacent about these issues. I hope to wake people up through resources such as Gree Solitaire. My site http://www.buddycom.com is a site where ecology activists can learn how to make web pages. I cover everything from html to javascript. We are in Japan and we have hundreds of high quality photos of flowers, animals, Japan, space, 3D, and other stuff I can't remember. My multimedia how to's cover everything from jpg and gif to 3D, sounds, video and streaming AV, vrml, gif animation, vector cel images and animations, java applets, cgi/perl scripts, molecular animations, browser plug ins, and more. The material is presented so that anyone can get what they need to know and take it from there. There are at least simple working examples of everything. Later these multimedia modalities will be used in the text and info about ecology pages. I want to present textual information and facts and figures to further the thought process of good people who care about our planet. I am preparing pages about that now and I want to quote from your ideas on your journal pages. Please advise me. I and my buddies are practical thinking people who are fed up with the total lack of seriousness applied to helping our earth. We are in a position where we are simply trying to salvage what is left of the other half of our rainforests for one example. information for its readers. However, I must caution everyone that the environmental issues presented on the site are small parts of a large and very complex problem. As the president of a nonprofit environmental research organization, I know that its not enough to save the animals, trees, and lands. Solutions have to be found to reverse the damage already caused, prevent other types of damage, and stop activities that affect the entire planet. The cost for all this work is staggering and can only be justified by pointing out that when one part of the environment is destroyed, another falls, and so on until the entire system fails. And then, we are all dead. |

(bison) herd in Rochester, Nerw York since I was a pre-schooler. It probably was at Durand-Eastman Park, near Lake Ontario.m I wonder if they are still there? I heard an official say that he wanted Lake Champlain (very small)listed as a Finger Lake, to get in on the government give away for them. At this point, he proceded to name the 5 Finger Lakes--Ontario, Superior, Huron, Michigan and Erie. Hello! I believe the Finger Lakes are all in New York State, some as tiny as Lake Champlain. How will they move Lake Champlain there? Besides, most fingers only come in groups of five. Who can name the Finger Lakes? There are so many bodies of water in that area. |

A plug for eco-restoration - it's not enough to "save" habitat - we must also restore habitat by removing non native flora & fauna so ecosystems can continue to naturally ("natively") adapt and evolve. |

smoking sections of a Restaurant, why not provide them with a huge Smoke-Eater (Ionizing Air Purifier), so that the rest of the patrons need not breathe in the fouled air. It's a start. |
