as yet don't have web page, but have been considering
starting one. I live in Nebraska, and frankly far too many
peoeple here seem to pay little attention to the
environmental crisis here, until it affects the personally.
Locally there are major concerns, with how the two largest
cities in Nebraska, Omaha and Lincoln, are going to handle
growth issues, both towns seem hellbent on size over the
quality of the urban planning that is occuring.
We've also seeing (hopefully) an end to an ill-conceived
plan to build a low-level radioactive waste dump near the
northern
border of our state, on a wetland no less!!! We also have
the threat of large scale corporate hog farms trying to move
into the state to pollute our rural communities. Do we
really want that for ourselves and our children? I don't
think anyone truly desires it, but far too many peoeple here
are complacent about these issues. I hope to wake people up
through resources such as Gree Solitaire. Good luck and i
look forward to visiting again.

Comments:We discovered your organisation while exploring the
Internet, and feel sure that the sad
story of the ongoing illegal destruction of the last
surviving remnant of Australia’s once vast east coast
Clarence Valley riparian rainforest - clearfelled earlier in
the century - would be of enormous interest to
your members. As two private adjoining landowners who have
an intimate knowledge of the issues, we
are writing to you now to inform you about a piece of our
global heritage which is diminished in area,
but disproportionately huge in political importance.

The mainstream media’s inaction has lead to public ignorance
and the private publication
of hundreds of damning files (purchased under recent Freedom
of Information
legislation) on the WWW to expose to the grass roots this
corruption
internationally. Please visit our huge website at:
www.nor.com.au/users/gaiaguys/

It is painstakingly documented PROOF of a scandal which has
now grown so extensively
as to impede its own resolution.

Rare Aboriginal sites, PRIME KOALA HABITAT, and other
endangered mammals, some of the
world’s largest colonies of Earth’s most threatened plants
and the last vestiges of the once vast,
clear-felled Lower Clarence riparian rainforest and ancient
old-growth hardwood forest have been
discovered on 492.5 ha (1217ac) of botanically critical
National Estate 12 km seaward from the rural
centre of Grafton. It was misrepresented publicly as
“ordinary”, and thrown away for 58¢ (U.S.) an acre
to be illegally damaged by cattle, logging and bushrock
theft, which continues apace. The Sydney press
described this land as "untouched since white settlement".

We have suffered arson attacks and a burglary of our files.
The intimidation this has
caused has made us unable to expose this locally. Because of
this, the man behind this
infamy will probably be re-elected on October 3rd by an
ignorant electorate who believe
the barrage of public lies told about this formally proposed
nature reserve. Our published
documentation reveals the truth on the WWW, but the Internet
is still in it’s infancy here.

This previous New South Wales government’s crooked land deal
corrupted the NSW
National Parks and Wildlife Service which then corrupted the
current Labor government and their
Environment Minister. Knuckling under to political
interference, the Environmental Defender's Office, a
team of volunteer conservationist lawyers, and
the National Parks Association of NSW, one of Australia’s
most respected and
conservative environmental organisations, have also not
pursued their formal assertions
that the significant conservation values of this National
Estate live - without adequate
protection - OUTSIDE a sham conservation agreement area.

In 1996, in the Senate, Greens’ Senator Bob Brown extracted,
“We cannot intervene”
from Federal Environment Minister Robert Hill, infamous for
his insistence at the Kyoto
summit that Australia be permitted to INCREASE greenhouse
gas emissions

On June 26th,1998, the embryonic NSW Greens boldly
challenged the state Environment
Minister’s demonstrable lies to parliament, regarding the
well documented nature of this
place, but political pressure seems to have thwarted the
following through of their
assertions.

Using the technology now available, WE BEG YOU to alert your
friends to help Australia in the form of
media coverage, letters, emails and telephone calls, so we
can expose the corrupt individuals here, the
likes of whom are responsible for our appalling record of
illegal rainforest destruction and species
extinction. That’s sure to have vital ramifications for the
little that is left in one of the most
environmentally damaged places in the world. We needn’t
remind you that we all have only one Mother
Earth, and if these ecologically critical islands of Her
wilderness are to survive into the future through
the firestorm of current development, it will only be with
the help of our powerful friends.

Comments:First, I like your site,especially the
balanced, well thought out ideas
in your journal pages. I am
discouraged that only 2,300
people have visited since last
october.
My site http://www.buddycom.com
is a site where ecology activists
can learn how to make web
pages. I cover everything from
html to javascript. We are in
Japan and we have hundreds of
high quality photos of flowers,
animals, Japan, space, 3D, and
other stuff I can't remember. My
multimedia how to's cover
everything from jpg and gif to 3D,
sounds, video and streaming AV,
vrml, gif animation, vector cel
images and animations, java
applets, cgi/perl scripts,
molecular animations, browser
plug ins, and more. The material
is presented so that anyone can
get what they need to know and
take it from there. There are at
least simple working examples of
everything. Later these
multimedia modalities will be
used in the text and info about
ecology pages. I want to present
textual information and facts and
figures to further the thought
process of good people who care
about our planet. I am preparing
pages about that now and I want
to quote from your ideas on your
journal pages. Please advise me.
I and my buddies are practical
thinking people who are fed up
with the total lack of seriousness
applied to helping our earth. We
are in a position where we are
simply trying to salvage what is
left of the other half of our
rainforests for one example.
Population is far and away the
most important issue but, it is
always treated as an ancillary
afterthought. Until that changes
there will be no lasting
substantive progress. If you email
me I will be very appreciative.

I plan to have my students take pictures of bedrock and/or landscape and then e-mail them to others in the state as an exchange. Any ideas on how to get names of teachers who may be interested? Do you know of any in your area??? Thx...

information for its readers. However, I must caution
everyone that the environmental issues presented on the
site are small parts of a large and very complex problem.

As the president of a nonprofit environmental research
organization, I know that its not enough to save the
animals, trees, and lands. Solutions have to be found to
reverse the damage already caused, prevent other types of
damage, and stop activities that affect the entire planet.

The cost for all this work is staggering and can only be
justified by pointing out that when one part of the
environment is destroyed, another falls, and so on until
the entire system fails. And then, we are all dead.

(bison) herd in Rochester, Nerw York since I was a
pre-schooler. It probably was at Durand-Eastman Park, near
Lake Ontario.m I wonder if they are still there?

I heard an official say that he wanted Lake Champlain (very
small)listed as a Finger Lake, to get in on the government
give away for them. At this point, he proceded to name the
5 Finger Lakes--Ontario, Superior, Huron, Michigan and Erie.
Hello! I believe the Finger Lakes are all in New York
State, some as tiny as Lake Champlain. How will they move
Lake Champlain there? Besides, most fingers only come in
groups of five. Who can name the Finger Lakes? There are so
many bodies of water in that area.

Comments:Thank you for your efforts! There are so many different ways for people to help our Home Planet...it's very helpful to have "clearing houses" for different contacts and efforts. A plug for eco-restoration - it's not enough to "save" habitat - we must also restore habitat by removing non native flora & fauna so ecosystems can continue to naturally ("natively") adapt and evolve.

time, the battle to save our planet. I would like to link to
your page. I recently created a simple eco-page. It started
out as a demo page for my employer but grew into a real
enviro page. I realize that it gets redundant having the
same thing repeated so many times... but on the ohter
hand... the more the better! how many times do you see
commercials urging you to buy stuff? after awhile the
message sinks in. in the same way eventually the message may
spread to the consciousness of the mainstream: save planet
Earth!!

this site. It's GREAT! Keep it up....

I just added a new International Green Stores Directory to
mine for those who want to find really creative, fun, and
environmentally friendly stores. I know several of the
owners and they really need more people supporting them.
I'm hoping that this will help. I also added a ring for
Cultural Creatives, in hopes that we will realize just how
many of us out there really do care about stuff. Apathy may
be mainstream, but there is a new mainstream worldview
emerging: Cultural Creatives.

Comments:What do you think of this idea. Since smokers eat in
smoking sections of a Restaurant, why not provide them with
a huge Smoke-Eater (Ionizing Air Purifier), so that the
rest of the patrons need not breathe in the fouled air.
It's a start.

treating municipal solid waste: thermolysis. It replaces
incineration. The technology does not pollute like
incineration does. In Gernamy, five full size plants have
been ordered, a.o. one for Berlin (300,000 t/y).

Comments:Hi everyone,
Please take this oppurtunity to share some of your thoughts
and ideas about environmentalism on the Internet. The real
changes about how we treat Nature aren't going to change
until we, the ordinary folks, change. That means learning
about the enviornment, interacting, and letting our
governmental officals know what we are thinking. So sign
in and be counted.
