| COMMENTS: | A very unusual and interesting place. It would indeed be classified as one of the remote corners of the world. It captured the interest of the Vikings long ago. Its hard to believe it is way north of Point Barrow in Alaska. That is the most northern spot in Alaska. It would have to be a summer trip. |

| COMMENTS: | There was a photo of Svalbard Beach taken by Camille Seaman included in a calendar in one of the 2005 New Yorker magazines. I had no idea where it was, although from the absence of swaying palm trees, I guessed it must be pretty far north or pretty far south. It interests me very much, and I want to find out more about it and perhaps visit this group of islands. I will check your website in more detail.
Thank you. Bill Stone SCGuy100@adelphia.net |

Land of the Ploar Bear, No doubt. My company has assisted in the outfitting of several expeditions in Svalbard. We make the hands free rifle support. Our products keep defensive longarm contained yet accessable. Particularly handy in polar bear country, so I've heard. |

| COMMENTS: | Came to your site after discovering that my gggg grandfather an Englishman, Captain David Buchan was in command of the ship 'Dorothea' and a second ship 'Trent' captained by a John Franklin when they put into South Gat to repair the ships after they were damaged in ice of Spitzbergen whilst looking for the North West passage in 1818. I was wondering if there may be a photo available of the South Gat area that some kind person could send to me via email.

| COMMENTS: | Hello
I'm 23 years old and living in germany. I already was in kenia, malaysia, venezuela, costa rica, ecuador....and then I cam to the yukon territory in canada. At this time I found my love for the north. Since I saw the first pictures of Svalbard Spitzbergen (this was 3 month ago) I can't forget this region. It isn't possible to describe how beautiful this landscape is. I want to visit svalbard this summer. But I have some problems. I dont find enough informations, to make a non-guided tour. I want to fly to Longyear and then walk with a big bagpack for example in the south of the Longyear-Region. Is there anyone who can give me some help (informations?) Do I need a rifle-document to lease a rifle for some time? Or could this anyone do without a document. (sorry I dont know the correct words in english). Is the food there expensive? Could I take food in the bagpack from germany to svaldbard? Are the little creeks of drinkable water or is the water dirty because of mines or so on? There are more general questions...if anyone would answer me I would be very lucky. grettings from germany Chris (P.S. of course I won't make the tour alone...maybe with a friend or so on) |

| COMMENTS: | Dear Leif/Stefan
I have been viewing your photos of Spitsbergen and I think they are fantastic. One photo in particular "Bear Rifle" really grabbed my imagination. I would be very interested in using the photo for an EP which I am releasing in June. I have a band based in Dublin Ireland. Our music is electro jazz style. I am sending you this mail in the hope to getting your permission to use the photo. You would get a credit on the cover and I will send you a copy of the EP. I hope to here from you Very soon. Thanks for your time. Yours gratefully Paul Fearon |
