It has been three years since my daughter and I were in South Carolina that day. Although I did not know Lt. Cmdr. Davis, I watched the most beautiful day turn dark, and after three years I guess I will never forget how heavey my heart felt when I realized what had happened. The pride of being a U.S. citizen and the freedom of enjoying my time with my daughter that day was made possible because of Great Americans like Lt. Cmdr. Davis. I know it has been some time since Mr. Davis' passing, but I still think about him on occasion. Kevin Davis was my branch officer when I was a lowley ole sailor in VF-11, more importantly we shared a couple of "Firsts". I was honored to have him as my first re-enlisting officer and a friend. On the same token, I was the first sailor that he had ever re-enlisted. I can also recall a few fun times that we had while on deployment, more specifically Bahrain... Kojack will always be my hero. His crash really got to me! I am tearing up NOW as I'm writing this( over 2 years AFTER the fact)! I fell in love with the BLue Angels since I was 5, and I remember the Skyhawks well since I live on the west side of Puget Sound in Washington. I rember the Blue Angels changing to the Hornets, and I HATED the hornets for a few years because I thought ALL planes MUST have ONE tail fin-not two! Man, I thought they were UGLY!! I thought the Skyhawks were good-looking compared to the "ugly" hornets! Now, I think the Hornet is THE most neautiful plane that was ever made! Yes, Kojack will live in our memories. I had the honor of flying with "Kojak" at the MiramarAir Show in 2006 as part of the media ride along program. Lt. Cmdr. Davis was an impressive pilot, dedicated to his service, his country and his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Lcdr. Davis at NAS Oceana, from 2001, to 2005. I was his aircrew survival equipmentman there. He was the bright light that shone every time he walked in the room. My family and I are deeply saddened by the loss of LCdr Davis. It is with heavy hearts we pray for his family and his military family. Although mixed with sorrow, our hearts are filled with extreme pride. We are proud of LCdr Davis for his service to our country and his achievements therein. We believe he was and still IS one of the best aviators in the world and are very proud of all those who live on and continue to serve.

As an F/A-18 Airframe mechanic stationed at NAS Atlanta. I would like to say that the loss of Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Davis and the FA-18 Hornet was a loss that was felt fleet wide. I am a Navy wife. When Kevin passed, the sorrow that we felt was so deep. Yesterday at the air show in Hillsboro Oregon, right before they went on, we were fortunate enough to pull aside Nathan Miller who is the announcer for the Blues this year. My 7 year old son and I along with Nathan prayed for a good show. What a blessing it was to hear him say he would "love" to pray with us. I felt so much better knowing that God had heard us.. It was a great show, and we love each and every one of the Blue Angels. God bless. | |

I lived in Pensacola, FL for six months while my husband attended a Navy course at Corry Station. The Blue Angels practiced once a week, and I watched them fly over my apartment many times; a beautiful sight. I simply want to give Lt.Cmdr. Davis's family condolences.
