As a child of the military, with parents from ARKANSAS I chose to honor Cleaveland Evans by wearing a bracelet with his name. I purchased the bracelet on one of my many trips to the Wall when I was an older teenager while my dad was stationed at the Pentagon. I wore the bracelet religiously for 10 years. I just found it today > 10 years later :) Back when I first bought it I was not able to find out any info really. Thanks for this site. I am wearing the bracelet and teaching my 3 sons about Mr Evans service to our country . He is not forgotten. Love to all his family and friends !

For the family, if any of them ever see this, thank you for your service to this country. I will continue to wear the bracelet and check back to see if he ever comes home.

when I attended high school in the 70's,I obtained a POW/MIA bracelet. The name on the bracelet was that of S/SGT Cleveland Evans Jr.I have had this bracelet hidden in the same safe place for decades....I have thought of the name the bracelet bears MANY times over the years,my thoughts always accompanied by a prayer.I recently discovered, that sadly,Cleveland Evans never returned home.I WOULD,however,be very honored to return home the bracelet to a surviving family member.I would appreciate anybody contacting me with any helpful information.Thank you.

In 1972, when I was 16 years old I received my POW bracelet with S/SGT Cleveland Evan Jr's name on it. I immediately felt a bond with him as the date of his disappearance was one day off from my own birthday. I wore my bracelet for over 30 years, and it was only when it became too misshapen to continue wearing that I finally removed it. While it no longer sits on my wrist I find his name still comes to me when I least expect it. After a viewing of the film "The Wall" today I found him with me, I was then prompted to do an internet search on him and found not just this site, but two others which finally allowed me to put a face to his name, and shared his story, here is the link to one of those: http://sgtclevelandevans.gunnysite.com/ Thank you for allowing us this place to honor him, I can only hope that one day he will finally be allowed to come home.

I am a Navy Veteran of WWII. In the Fall of 2010, I found a bracelet on a Cape May County, New Jersey beach while metal detecting, which is a hobby of mine. The name on the bracelet is S/SGT. CLEVELAND EVANS, JR. I have always made it my personal goal to try and return anything identifiable to its rightful owners. I will continue to hold onto this bracelet in the hopes that the owner will contact me. I would be honored to return it to you. Please contact me @ johnbet@comcast.net

In March of 68 I was only 5 years old and my Father was serving aboard the USS Oriskany. I seen my very first Marine in 1970 and I thought that the Uniform was the sharpest I have ever seen. I wanted to be a US Marine.
Oct. 16 1982 I joined the Marines and the rest is history as they say. Now years later I am with Rolling Thunder TN Chapter V supporting the fight to bring all our Brothers and Sisters home and to edjucate those who don't believe that our Government has left our Brothers and Sisters behind. I ordered a Memorial Braclet to Honor those still missing and was very Honored to have gotten S/Sgt Cleveland J. Evans USMC from AR. My family came from AR and S/Sgt Evans is and always will be my Brother Marine. I will always wear his Memorial Braclet until my Brother comes home or I am called home first. Semper Fi

Cleveland and I left Little Rock, Ar together on Oct 15, 1965 to go to MCRD San Diego. We were in the same platoon in recruit training and came home on leave for Christmas between boot camp and ITR. I tried finding him when I got home from Viet Nam in 69 and couldn't find him. It was 10 or so years later that I found out he was MIA.

My mother and his mother corresponded for awhile while we were in the Marine corps, but lost contact with her while I was in RVN in 1968-!969.

I love you Brother wherever you are!!!!!

God bless Staff Sergeant Evans Jr., Cleveland & his beloved family! In 1998 I wanted to purchase a POW bracelet to show my support. Everytime I wanted to donate to a good cause of purchasing one they were always sold out. After my husband SSgt Williams, Cleveland came back from Iraq I knew I just had to get one because it could of been him who was in this position of POW/MIA - I walked into the establishment and the man wanted to pick out the bracelet for me - Something told me to pick it out myself - I told the salesman that I wanted a person who was missing with the same last name as my husband so that he could become apart of our family - I am a Marine so everyone in that box was my family - but I really wanted to pick it myself so that it could really become personal to me - Lo and behold when I drew the bracelet out of the box the first thing that I noticed was the SSgt's first name was Cleveland - the same as my husband! My eyes immediately filled with tears and I knew at that time I was suppose to have that bracelet. I don't ever take the bracelet off unless I am sleeping - I wear it if I am in Civilian Attire, PT gear or My Dress Blues - People ask me about the bracelet all the time (civilians) and I tell them its my Brother - He was Killed in Action. I won't even take it off in the airport passing the security so I beep all the time. I feel a personal connection with Staff Sergeant Evans because he was 28 when he first went missing and I myself was 28 when I enlisted in the Marine Corps.
I believe in my heart that he went down fighting and
never gave up - his life was sacrificed for us here even
before I was born. I pray that he will come home - Until then I will continue to wear my symbol of support on my wrist and when that day comes and I find out that he was brought home and finally given a proper burial then I will find his family and return the bracelet to them. Semper Fi, Staff Sergeant Evans - Once a Marine Always a Marine - Your life was taken early but "CHARLIE" could never stop you from being amongst the best fighting force ever established. Much Love, Sergeant Williams, Dionne USMC, Camp Pendleton, CA.
