In March of 68 I was only 5 years old and my Father was serving aboard the USS Oriskany. I seen my very first Marine in 1970 and I thought that the Uniform was the sharpest I have ever seen. I wanted to be a US Marine.
Oct. 16 1982 I joined the Marines and the rest is history as they say. Now years later I am with Rolling Thunder TN Chapter V supporting the fight to bring all our Brothers and Sisters home and to edjucate those who don't believe that our Government has left our Brothers and Sisters behind. I ordered a Memorial Braclet to Honor those still missing and was very Honored to have gotten S/Sgt Cleveland J. Evans USMC from AR. My family came from AR and S/Sgt Evans is and always will be my Brother Marine. I will always wear his Memorial Braclet until my Brother comes home or I am called home first. Semper Fi

To all of you who have come and visited my brother Gunnery Sgt Cleveland Evans Jr's website site I want to thank you. I am the brother that feels like he left his brother behind. I truly love my brother and miss him very much. I am writing this email with tears in my eyes. Go bless all of you who still are wearing my brother's bracelet.Of course I still wear my brother's bracelet and think about him every day. I try to stay strong and keep praying for my brother and wished it was me not him that is listed as KIA/BNR which is killed in action body not returned. I just can't seem to belive he is dead and I still have not lost my faith in God that he could be alive and being still held. Thank God for all of your prayers.

Sgt Cleveland Evans is my Uncle. Despite not meeting him, I know him and the sacrifice he made. I am proud of him and pray for his return. I am currently a Major in the Air Force, and it is my prayer that he returns before I retire.
To everyone that has stated kind words...our entire family says a heartfelt "Thank-You". My Uncle Jerry Evans is the brother Uncle Cleveland was going to visit. Uncle Jerry retired from the Army and is doing well. He continues to research and has gone on trips to get as much information as possible about Uncle Cleveland.

I proudly wore my POW bracelet with Clevland's name on it and to this day it is tucked away in a special place. I had the honor this past weekend to visit the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington and found Cleveland's name on the wall. Can't tell you what a thrill and honor that was. Rest in peace Clevland.

The event that was sad. To know that prisioners of war are still missing and not allowing the family to not have closure towrds their loved ones that may have given their lies for a country that they believed in is sad. Just not knowing what happened to your son, grandson, brother or sister is disturbing.

I looked at it alittle later and noticed that that the 40 year anniversary was this month and i just wanted to let someone know that he wasn't forgotten. I wear his name with the utmost pride and respect for him and his family.

Cleveland and I left Little Rock, Ar together on Oct 15, 1965 to go to MCRD San Diego. We were in the same platoon in recruit training and came home on leave for Christmas between boot camp and ITR. I tried finding him when I got home from Viet Nam in 69 and couldn't find him. It was 10 or so years later that I found out he was MIA.
My mother and his mother corresponded for awhile while we were in the Marine corps, but lost contact with her while I was in RVN in 1968-!969. I love you Brother wherever you are!!!!! Semper Fi, John

God bless Staff Sergeant Evans Jr., Cleveland & his beloved family! In 1998 I wanted to purchase a POW bracelet to show my support. Everytime I wanted to donate to a good cause of purchasing one they were always sold out. After my husband SSgt Williams, Cleveland came back from Iraq I knew I just had to get one because it could of been him who was in this position of POW/MIA - I walked into the establishment and the man wanted to pick out the bracelet for me - Something told me to pick it out myself - I told the salesman that I wanted a person who was missing with the same last name as my husband so that he could become apart of our family - I am a Marine so everyone in that box was my family - but I really wanted to pick it myself so that it could really become personal to me - Lo and behold when I drew the bracelet out of the box the first thing that I noticed was the SSgt's first name was Cleveland - the same as my husband! My eyes immediately filled with tears and I knew at that time I was suppose to have that bracelet. I don't ever take the bracelet off unless I am sleeping - I wear it if I am in Civilian Attire, PT gear or My Dress Blues - People ask me about the bracelet all the time (civilians) and I tell them its my Brother - He was Killed in Action. I won't even take it off in the airport passing the security so I beep all the time. I feel a personal connection with Staff Sergeant Evans because he was 28 when he first went missing and I myself was 28 when I enlisted in the Marine Corps.
I believe in my heart that he went down fighting and never gave up - his life was sacrificed for us here even before I was born. I pray that he will come home - Until then I will continue to wear my symbol of support on my wrist and when that day comes and I find out that he was brought home and finally given a proper burial then I will find his family and return the bracelet to them. Semper Fi, Staff Sergeant Evans - Once a Marine Always a Marine - Your life was taken early but "CHARLIE" could never stop you from being amongst the best fighting force ever established. Much Love, Sergeant Williams, Dionne USMC, Camp Pendleton, CA.

What a Beautiful site you have made for two Heroes..I for one appreciate what you have done for the memories of our POW/MIA's/ KIA, Who sacrificed their lives then and now..I always said that even though they may have never made it out of Vietnam alive and we don't know what happened to them, and if they died, they are in a better place now..My Brother PFC: William L Young Jr, Shorty Ewoldt, Joe Brewer, Billy Blake and Randy Schwendy died on February 6th, 1968,for our freedom, just as over 50,000 or more did and I will always be grateful to them for that..They will never be forgotten as long as i am alive..

Dear Sirs, First what a beautiful site to remember Sgt Evans. My husband is a Sgt in the Marine Corps as well. He gave me my POW/MIA braclet with Sgt. Evans Name on it 7 years ago for one of our first dates, I knew at that time how much the Corps means to him. I have never taken the braclet off in those 7 years. I think of Sgt Evans every March 13, I know that the Lord hears my prayers. I know it may sound funny but I feel that Sgt Evans is a part of me and my family, and will continue to be till he comes home. With Much Love, Le Anne I Bull Wife of Sgt. Eric C.
