| Comments: | Hi Harry, my name is Stuart and I work at Lloyds. Kody gave me your name cos I was telling him about the fantasy trilogy I've been editing freelance for the last three years. Called "The Landsinger Chronicles" and written by Carmen Lange, we're now looking for different ways to get the story out there.
I have edited Carmen's novella, "Irrennu Fandarin" (a short story taken from the main trilogy - which is longer than LOTR) into an audio book script (111pages) and we're recording that as a CD this summer, and I'm also recording a full soundtrack. But it has always been at the back of our minds that her story would be fabulous as a graphic novel or anime feature. You can check out her novel at www.landsinger.com - we've been serializing Volume 1 there for about a year and a half. Just to briefly give you some background, Carmen has been writing the trilogy for over 20 years; it is her life's work, and obviously her greatest ambition is to see it fully realised in her lifetime and published. But a lot of the big publishers are playing safe, and Carmen's work is anything but safe. It is very different, alien, original, oriental in philosophy, strikingly visual, violent in places and can be read as a rip-roaring adventure but also has a serious message. Landsinger could turn anime on its head. Written from a women's point of view, it undermines many of the standard stereotypes in male fantasy. It has wonderful dialogue and fantastic action sequences, and is a highly developed world from an imagination with the lid taken off. I think it could be amazing to bring together Carmen's story and your contemporary fantasy art. We believe by getting self-published products like the audio book on sale via the net, we can generate interest from the bigger players in this.
