Anyway, I was reading your reviews, and though I didn't always agree with them (I knew very quickly I came from a different background), I did find them very well-written. In general, I agreed with the purely subjective parts of the reviews, and even had to admit the truth behind your more opinionated reviews. I started to understand better the variety of people that watch anime, and realized that I might have let my own personal standards slip with some anime. To put that it in slightly more obvious terms, I've wathced so much anime, at this point fan service is just another fact of life, not even worth mentioning. I guess I've just gotten so used to it, I keep forgetting how uncomfortable in can make some. Oh, and the fact that guys have that entire "chivalry" thing they do in anime, another thing I've quit noticing. I guess I never thought of it from a more conservative perspective (though technically, I'd put any sort of feminism in the liberal category). Maybe I've always believed that the anime guys who want to "protect women" really mean protect anyone, as it goes with their general moral code. All the same, it was refreshing to see a different point of view on anime, and your reviews did well to define it. I hope you continue watching (especially Lain, Key, and a few others . . . having seen the whole series, I can tell you, they get even better by the end), and may you never suffer a truly terrible anime. I started watching Toonami (I'd rather watch un-edited stuff, but college students don't always have the money to buy the tapes), and I really like OLS and DBZ. I came into OLS in the middle of the series (episode 7), and was sooooo confused, but I thought it was really cool. Your site was helpful, and I feel all straightened out now.
