The kibbutz life was a wonderful time and I sometimes wonder how my life would have been should I have never left Israel. I have been back twice for short visits, perhaps I will see Hanita again, do you still offer coffee and cookies and friends after dark? |

I need to contact Arlette Guggenheim who worked there as a children's nurse. She still lives in Israel but off the Kibbutz. I do not know her married name. I was close with Arlette Guggenheim who I understand lives in Israel with her family. I would like very much to get her email and say "Shalom" after almost forty years apart. Can anyone help ?? I also stayed at Kibbutz Ein Gedi in the South for a about a year picking green peppers and fighting off deadly snakes in the fields. I'd like to contact anyone from Hanita during my stay; anyone who walked up that road to the kibbutz at night; anyone who remembers our Hebrew teacher; anyone who jumped in our stainless steel lined foxhole when live bombs fell in the kibbutz launched from Lebanon; anyone who worked at the dining room; anyone who remembers those crazy Americans who I smoked pot with or anyone who remembers me. We toured the schools, kitchen, some of the factories. It was a trip I'll always remember. As a child, one thing I always remember is the kids playgrounds, something I always wished we had in alma. I took a trip up there 17 years later in July 2007 and how it changed. no more ulpan, no more volunteers and they are selling houses to outsiders. The days of "milk and honey" are over. I was a volunteer at Hanita from jan-June '79. I still am in contact with Berni (Swiss), John (American), and Judith (Canadian) It was a wonderful experience. I teach 8th grade history and just showed my students my Israel slides while studying the Middle East conflict. I hope hanita fared well in the hostilities this summer. Three katiushas fell a couple of miles away while we were working in the banana fields that year. Some things don't change apparently. I have been to Hanita a couple of times on a school field trip when I was in high school (some 15 years ago) I loved Hanita!!
