| Comments: | Hey Alphonso-Congratulations on your success. I wish you much more in the future. I am a law school "classmate"-we were both in the class that entered G-town in 1993. We became more friendly towards the end of our years there but I have often wondered how you were doing. I pretty much left everything of law school behind and so have not been in touch with anyone from those days until recently. My last name was Cooper back then. (Deidre) Anyway, glad to see you've found your happiness (so it seems). Take care and best wishes. Contact me if you choose. |

| Comments: | My name is Theo Mr. Alphonso and I enjoyed your work on Sons its a very truthful book so many things in it about myself it was like looking in the mirror and I reflected from it. Im entering a Campus movie festival in Atlanta, GA and I go to the Art Institute of Atlanta....a few ideas have come to mind and I wanted to do a kind of docudrama relating your book and the experiences of the gay youth in Atlanta, but Im alittle lost on how and where to start....if you could give any advice or input because I would love to share what I do have with you please contact me |

| Comments: | Alphonso has successfully found a way to weave together a story of real purpose. I finished SONS in four days--- and I feel as though it will only get better with a second and third reading. It has it all: a captivating plot, unforgettable characters and a theme that we can all relate to: the power and consequences of love.
Bravo. Can't wait until the next novel. |

| Comments: | I finished your book very early this morning and was deeply disturbed by the culmination of the lives which inhabited it. In some small way, I was hoping that Sha and Aaron would, somehow, find a way to live and provide each other with the assurance and acceptance and absolution of shame both men needed. But, I know, even though I do not wish to accept such burdensome knowledge, that a fairytale ending would have been a lie and would have, certainly, ruined the story. The conclusion is tragic, so tragic, in fact, that it inevitably becomes truth. It is an incontrovertible truth that in this COUNTRY many men of color lose their lives every day simply because of their desire to be held and made
beautiful by another man. This is, lamentably, our inheritance. Your offering, Mr. Morgan, is appreciated and deeply needed. Is it possible that we can know more about the relationship between Sha and Joel? It seems there is more to be said? |

| Comments: | A good friend of mine passed your book along to me on a Monday, and I finished it that Wednesday. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and look forward to finding out what happens to Aaron in your second publication (unless there is something out there now that I have no knowledge of).
All the best to you for continued literary success. |

Man you painted such a perfect picture of what goes on in so many hoods across this country. Sha could be any one of my boys in my crew. Thank you for creating this masterpiece that represents us in this Hip Hop generation.

| Comments: | I read your book last night and you are amazing!!! The grit and honesty of urban life rings in your words. I would not want to close off the impact Sons will have by designating it a black gay novel. For me it is a well rounded honest portrayal of life with no apologies. Thank you for being a centerpiece in a relaxing night at home. Much Love. |

| Comments: | While my purchase of Sons was a haphazard one, once I read one page, I was hooked. The story crossed genres from drama to action to romance. As I dry my tears having just finished the last page, I wish to congratulate Mr. Morgan on a fantastic accomplishment in literature. I hope I may one day meet you when you come to Atlanta. |

Alphonso, this is is simply the best book i've read in a very long time. The last time i was floored like this was reading Bil Wright's "Sunday You Learn How to Box." I keep making comparisons to Toni Morrison in my head. I'll be writing a review soon. Thank you. m |

| Comments: | To say that SONS is a great gay novel gives short shrift to the author's fine work. Plain and simple, Alphonso Morgan's SONS is a classic piece of American literature. |

| Comments: | Once I start reading this book, I could not put it down. I could relate to the characters so much because I went through the same thing when I was sixteen. Alphonso thanks you so much for introducing me this book at the park in dc. It was nice talking to you. Keep in touch (smile).... |

| Comments: | I have just finished reading SONS (last night) and could not write this comment until the next day. Alphonso Morgan is that rare author who makes one experience the emotional trauma of Aaron in this novel. Yet, we also have insight into the psyche of Sha, Anise and Sparks. The stream of consciousness elevates Morgan to the ranks of Virginia Woolf, James Joyce and William Faulkner. I know we will see more great works of literature from this author. SONS is truly a must read, and I congratulate AM for this outstanding achievement. |

| Comments: | Unlike the book's description says, I think the book is a lot more than just that one character's strugggle. What about his little sister's (she was my favorite character) and his friend's? The novel is about all of them. It blends together all of their comming of age angst into one awsome read. And when I finally finnished it I was too upset man! How could u let it end? And not like that! You have to have a sequel comming!
***Can I get an autographed photo 2go w/ my book!!*** |

| Comments: | What can I say, Sons IS phenomenal! I enjoyed the book and will read it again. The central characters invite you into their respective worlds. The funny thing is that I have a mentee who mirrors Aaron. I found myself loving and loathing Sha. Talk about tainted love. Maggie is a hoot and ever so vivid. And what’s more, the ending was startling as it was apropos. Two questions: Is there more “story” to tell, or is the best sequel the one that I envision in the theatre of my mind? I’m ready for you to put pen to paper or finger to key and get about the business of producing your next work of art. |

| Comments: | "The Black homosexual is hard pressed to gain audience among his hetero-sexual brothers; even if he is more talented, he is inhibited by his silence or his admissions. This is what the race has depended on in being able to erase homosexuality from our recorded history. The 'chosen' history. But these sacred constructions of silence are futile exercises in denial. We will not go away with our issues of sexuality. We are coming home." |
