NOTE	In response to this poster's comment: "As a media student who has studied (in depth) the nature of biased reporting in documentaries, I am aware of the issues raised on this website, altbough I'm truly shocked at the outcome of this case." I find it interesting that you've studied in depth the nature of biased reporting in documentaries and you demonstrate the very reason for it in your commentary here! Those of who watched this case, in full, unfold in the courtroom know of the mountain of evidence--the mosaic of circumstantial evidence including strong forensic evidence--which led to the unanimous conviction of Michael Peterson. I have not seen the documentary but perhaps they failed to include the testimony of "forensic scientist" Dr. Henry Lee who testified that the 10,000 plus blood spatters found up the walls (preserved in the defendant's domicile) were "too much blood for a beating" but apparently "enough" for a 3 stair fall. And that they were the result of the victim, Kathleen Peterson "coughing, sneezing or yell for helping" yet her mouth, nose and airways did not demonstrate blood residue from a person emitting that much blood from their own body. Nor was there internal bleeding to suggest this. Or perhaps they failed to mention the blood SPATTER found inside the convicted murderer's shorts. As a result of high velocity moving blood that occurs during blows being inflicted. Or are we to believe Kathleen Peterson somehow sneezed the non existent blood in her airways into his shorts? There was a mountain of evidence to convict this man. Even some of his supporters believe her death as a result of an attack and not a fall. However, they believe an owl flew into the home and attacked her. Go figure. I'm looking forward to seeing this documentary to see how slanted they were able to get. From someone who saw this trial in total. All the testimony and theatrics by the Director in the courtroom: David Rudolf. Who should have yelled "CUT" on himself numerous times. In my opinion.

NOTE	Mr. Poetic Justice – You didn’t really respond to my post. I said “I think you owe him an apology for the things you wrote about him on your website,” and I was specifically referring to the denigrating comment you made about him being on crystal meth. I wasn’t appealing to you to apologize for suspecting Mr. Lunsford. Yes, Mark was responsible for Jessica’s protection, and he did protect her to the best of his ability. As a single parent, he made sure that his parents cared her for when he wasn’t home. If he had a job and was working the night shift, would you have held that against him, or did you choose to judge him simply because he was out with his girlfriend? Thank God he isn’t gay and wasn’t spending the night with a man – he may very well have been crucified! As to your comment about Mark’s dirty baseball cap, that just showed how narrow you truly are. I see black kids walking around town all the time wearing long white tee shirts, their pants below their cracks, and “do-rags” on their heads, but I don’t automatically judge them and assume they are members of a gang. We all have certain mannerisms and ways of dressing that could cause others to cast judgment, but that doesn't mean we would kill our children. The bottom line is that neither Mark nor his grandparents are responsible for Jessica’s murder. It blows me away that we continue to try and pin the blame for crimes on someone other than the perpetrator. That’s why we have a nation full of people unwilling to accept consequences for their actions. John Couey was responsible for her murder, plain and simple. He is the one who chose to trespass on the Lunsford's property, kidnap a child, and then murder her. It was HIS choice, and he's the one who will pay the consequences. As parents, we are always pondering how we can parent better, and when an unfavorable situation results, we are the first ones to question what we could have done differently. We go over in our minds with thoughts of “if only I had done this.” Many of us wish we could be by our children’s sides 24 hours a day to ensure they are 100% protected. We all make mistakes along the way. I suspect that you are single with no children, and if so, it’s easy for you to sit behind your computer and dictate what should have been done. After all, there’s a little bit of Monday morning quarterback in all of us. My advice to you is this: “be careful about judging those in whose shoes you have not walked … you never know when you’re going to be the one in the judgment seat.” I sincerely hope that comments made by people like you do not make their way to the Lunsford family. They need compassion and encouragement at this very difficult time in their lives, not judgment and condemnation. But I suppose those are two traits that are in direct conflict with your website, aren't they?

NOTE	DEAR GINGER: Jessica Lunsford's kidnap and murder is truly tragic. I'm very sorry she became victim to one of the thousands of demented creatures who hunt and kill children. Nobody takes any delight in hearing news of another little girl's death. But I'm certainly not sorry for suspecting that Jessica's father, Mark, had something to do with it. Reality dictates -- the crime didn't happen in a vacuum. I am sorry Mark Lunsford wasn't alarmed by the lying crackheads and meth addicts that lived mere yards from the house he moved his then 7-year-old child into. I am sorry Mark had no idea what happened to his daughter the morning she went missing since he didn't put her to bed or have any clue where she was the evening before. I am sorry Mark was out with his girlfriend all night and left his aging parents to watch the child. I am sorry Mark repeatedly went on national television to make appeals for Jessica's safe return wearing a dirty baseball cap and hiding his eyes behind a big, dark pair of sunglasses. I am sorry Jessica's grandparents now live with the public and private horror of thinking they did something wrong. Less than a day before John Couey confessed to the murder, Mark announced that he was taking news of the sex offender who lived next door with a "grain of salt." Mark was responsible for Jessica's protection. I am NOT sorry for suspecting Mark Lunsford had something to do with Jessica Lunsford's kidnapping. As far as I'm concerned -- he did.

Well, I guess we all know now that you can't judge a book by its cover, can you? In my opinion, Mr. Lunsford handled himself with grace and eloquence every step of the way in this investigation. I really hope that Mr Peterson did kill his wife, but I've just go no idea how he could have. I can't imagine what this man must be going through if he is innocent. While the conincidences levelled at Mr Peterson seem to be too strange to be anything but fiction, everyone in their life time experiences strange and coincidental events (that one would hope would not result in the deaths of loved ones). The outcome of this case, appears to highlight stupidity and close mindedness rather than justice. The evidence at hand seems to have been completey ignored. What the hell is this sick website all about...? why would you bother gloating about this mans guilt? Do you have another agenda (just as the film makers may have)? At the end of the day, documentary or no, their is no evidence that this man killed his wife. It is also actually one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. Those who think this man is guilty should watch 'The thin blue line' by Errol Morris. This film changed a mans life.

NOTE	I know Chris Pittman and his family. He murdered his own flesh and blood, and that cannot be justified, but because he was unhealthy at the time, and young, MAYBE WE CAN HELP HIM. It is now too late to save Joe and Joy Pittmans' life, but Chris is still so young. You haven't the right to judge a person that you have never met. Joe and Joy are missed, but there are those of us, here, who miss Chris just as much, and I am one of those few people. What I have been put through in the past four years is probably no comparison to what his family has gone throuhg, but I have encountered many disturbing people who are so close-minded and hurtful. They take no consideration of the emotions of all of the parties involved, and from what I have read in your selection on juveniles, I see you could easily be classified as one of those people. "There is only one thing I feel that could have been done," you wrote, "Rusty could have left with the children." CORRECTION: Rusty could've had a VASECTOMY. How about that, Ann? How about not having children in the first place? That's what doctors told Rusty. That's what the doctors all warned Rusty about. Anyone who's followed the case knows why Rusty kept on having those kids. We know why Rusty wanted his wife home-schooling them in a BUS. We know about the bizarre religious HELL Andrea Yates was subjected to -- by Rusty. This case isn't about Andrea's mental illness, Ann -- it's about Rusty and "Reverend Wornecki," and those two sane men's RELIGIOUS NONSENSE that led to there being any children in the first place.

NOTE	As a mother who has raised a mentally ill bi-polar child, I know firsthand about doctors, treatments, haldon, antidepressents, & arrests of the mentally ill. I followed Andrea's trial & I disagree with and your statements. My son has been in and out of hospitals, treated for suicide attempts, been arrested for anger altercations, etc. Yes his is mentally ill and we and the insurance & medical systems have done everything possible to keep him on the even road. But, if he were to commit a crime such as murder (drowning babies or whatever), then even though he is mentally ill and we love our child and have to fight for treatments all the time, it is still his choice to kill. If he chooses to not take his medicines and chooses to kill, then life in prison might be the consequence or, if he did it in Texas - well they have strict rules and put to death more people than other states, but that is the consquence in that state. Would I want my mentally ill child put to death? Absolutely not. But to blame the state as "gathering like vultures", or people "wanting vengeance for the drownings" or the "state not giving a damn about the children" is just putting blame on other people. Andrea's husband tried to help her. The insurance company did what Rusty's employer's policy paid for, the doctors prescribed medicines, she stopped taking them. There is only one thing I feel that could have been done that wasn't done - Seeing that his wife was obviously mentally unable to care for them, Rusty could have left with the children; gotten them away from her. There is too much blame in society of it being "everyone elses fault". Sometimes people just make choices. And mentally unstable people have the right to make choices. When the choice turns out like Andrea's case - you still have to face the consquence.

But now i can see the prosecution's case was a lot more solid than it first appeared. Your own observations on MP's patterns of dishonesty were revelations. I consider myself much more informed on this type of evil, now. Thanks also for standing up for the victim. Victims so often get cast off or mocked, degraded, and made pathetic. These were real people! They are robbed as well as murdered, robbed of the chance to explain themselves. I think you have helped to restore some of that balance in your writing.

For the record, 12 and 13 year olds aren't sent to prison "automatically" when they take drugs and murder people. Unlike their victims, they get a fair hearing before impartial jurors. I agree little Chris Pittman really has it tough, but hey -- he's alive -- so he got a better deal than the grandparents he killed. You say that if you were "related to these young men" you'd be a rich man because you would "sue the U.S. Justice Department for cruel and unusual punishment." You wouldn't have a chance -- you'd be dead. Your grandson would wait until you're asleep, creep into your bedroom, blow your head off with a shotgun, burn down your house, and then tell everybody the ZOLOFT did it. That's cruel and unusual punishment.

NOTE	Just a note to let you know how appalling I think our justice system is to send 12 and 13 year olds to prison automatically for murders when they are on drugs such as Zoloft and Paxil. I would give anything to see some arrogant prosecuting attorney spend the same time that young men like Derek and Alex King and Chris Pittman have to serve. I am ashamed at the U.S. legal system. NOTE	Having just watched the apparently biased 8 hour Michael Peterson documentary I was amazed to see a jury convict with no murder weapon, little motive and no witnesses. He may be guilty, but that doesn't matter - it wasn't proven beyond reasonable doubt to anyone who can take an objective view. I can only conclude that the prosecution succeeded because of american redneck prejudice about bisexuals. I wonder how many heterosexual american men committing adultery happen to find their spouses dead after an accident - and they won't even be charged! I think this is a terrible website for its narrow-minded bias - revelling in smart-ass comment exploiting the misery of people.

NOTE	It's depressing but not surprising to find out that after all this time there are still idiots like you who totally discount the involvement of the convicted child molester Rick Chavis and his co-molester Deputy Reggie Jernigan in the murder of Terry King. There were literally dozens of phone calls between the two babyrapers all throughout the night of the murder and the following days before Chavis brought the boys to the police station, accompanied of course by Jernigan. These two warped individuals roamed the streets of Pensacola in Jernigan's oficial patrol unit for a decade following Chavis's completion of his sentence and release from prison on molestation charges, and both were constantly seen in the company of young boys at Chavis's fortified house trailer. This and other damning information was of course ignored by the foolish people in the world (such as yourself). Regardless of what the foolish people in this world (such as yourself) believe as regards the level of the boys' participation in this brutal killing, it is dumbfounding to witness these same foolish people (such as yourself) still willing to ignore the decades-long sexual assaults of countless young boys in the Pensacola Florida area perpetrated by these two pedophiles and the preponderance of evidence implicating these same two pedophiles in the murder. I would attempt to call upon your sense of decency and journalistic integrity to investigate Jernigan to the hilt and expose him for what he truly is, but unfortunately you dont seem to possess either of these two qualities. To paraphrase your response to JPOsborn, yes, Terry King is still dead, and Rick Chavis still did it. The real evidence is incontrovertible and as yet ignored by the foolish people of this world (such as yourself)

NOTE	Dear jposborn: Thank you for the update on little Derek King and his adorable baby brother, Alex. Almost three years to the day after the autopsy report was made public, I have an update on their father, Terry King: He's still dead from multiple blunt force head injuries, administered with an aluminum baseball bat while he lay sleeping. Terry King is still dearly missed by many, many people whose hearts have been forever saddened, and whose minds will forever be haunted by horrible memories of the fiery hell Terry King's children subjected him to. All these years after that dark night in December when Derek and Alex told police the first of what would eventually be six different versions of how Terry King was murdered, it's wonderful to know the little angels are doing well … in prison. You say my preference may have been "to see them dead, or victimized," but unlike the mini Menendez brothers, I don't support the death penalty. I have absolutely no desire to see Derek or Alex hit in the face so hard their brain matter is later found on the ceiling. Nor do I support cruel and unusual punishment such as theft, blackmail, bullying and burning. My preference would be that the King brothers, since they're doing so well, would now make a public statement clearing their father's good name and admitting that he never, ever abused them physically, emotionally or in any other way -- and that, in fact, Terry King was an extraordinarily loving and gentle man who died trying to protect his children from themselves. You say you find there are two kinds of people who want children to be incarcerated as adults: those ignorant of the extreme dangers and those who get their jollies from it. In my experience I've found very few people are ignorant of how dangerous prisons are and even fewer derive pleasure from such thoughts. But there are millions of people who feel that when a juvenile commits the adult crimes of arson and premeditated murder, the punishment should fit. As for Alex and Derek ever "coming out of this tragedy" -- I wish them luck, but patricide isn't easily atoned for. Ask Oedipus.

NOTE	PJ . . been a long time since our debate over the King trial on the CTV boards. I noted that a person, Michael, had mentioned in an earlier post that Alex and Derek were having a hard time. Actually, from what I have learned the opposite is true, both are doing quite well, particularly Alex. The staff at the facility where he is incarcerated have taken quite a liking to him and he has been excelling both socially and educationally. Seems to me as though when you have kids with no criminal record and give them the time and effort to change and reform themselves with good solid programs, rehabilitation is a real possibility. Derek has been working in a program which trains dogs for the blind and has also been doing well. Sure glad the DJJ in Florida kept them out of that "young offender" prison where they would have been the youngest by 4 years. Looks like both have a good shot at coming out of his tragedy with a shot at life. Of course I realize your preference would have been to see them dead, or victimized at the hands of inmates far older . . but hey, you can't win'em all. From my experience two kinds of people desire children to be incarcerated in adult institutions with mandatory sentencing . . those who are ignorant of the extreme dangers children would face and those who get their jollies from it. Which begs the question, are they stupid or sadistic.

One court observer said the poor man had a meltdown on the stand. Meltdown. As in, "Three-mile Island." Perhaps the word "Chernobyl" isn't in the transcript but just about everyone agreed, Dr. March came in like a lion and went out like a lamb.

Quote:Mr. Geragos' expert finally fell apart altogether, threw himself on the mercy of the court and begged DA Harris for pity, crying "Cut me some slack!" Jurors, who in the past had laughed right along with the high profile defense lawyer-to-the-stars, were derisively laughing at Geragos' star witness. During his re-direct-examination, Geragos succeeded only in re-clarifying that the assumptions Dr. March relied upon to make his scientific calculations were based on the estimated dates of various Peterson family phone calls. (Oh, perfect… more phone-based, retrospective analysis.)

NOTE	I will checking in for the review of the Maha produced mockumentary shown tonite on ABC. Actually i thought it was well done, although, as expected, slanted toward the defendant. I did find curious though that the defense team decided that Clayton, Peterson's second son, should be the person chosen to "find' the missing blowpoke. David Rudolf admitted to journalists after the trial that he had known of the blowpoke's existence "for months' and was just waiting to choose the appropriate time to introduce it. So the entire "finding" was in the words of Freda Black ADA, Pure T Staged. Much like kathleen's body staged in that macabre position at the bottom of the staircase in a POOL of her own blood. NOTE	I am for the most part concerned that when we find a supernatural force to blame our problems on that in turn we learn nothing. Nothing has been learned from ANY of the previous drownings because they happen again and again. If in fact there is not a serial killer or if there is, education on what can happen when people drink too much is where we need to start. It is not sober people who are mysteriously drowning, it is very drunk people. Going out for a night of heavy drinking should not be your idea of a safe good time. Not only can you be involved in many kinds of accidents you can cause serious injury to others. I am very sick of babysitting friends who can't just stop drinking when they should. I am told that I am the one with the problem for not drinking. Well I am still here in one piece. There are all kinds of consquences of binge drinking and alcoholism it is the fact, it's the one piece of evidence we have in all these cases. So instead of waiting and blaming a serial killer which we have no proof of let's work on what we have . People drink too much, don't know when to stop, and relay on those of us that don't to help them and pick up the pieces of the problems they have caused. Going out drinking comes with responsibilities if you don't want to accept that then stay home and drink and stop putting yours and everyone else's lives in danger because you can't educate yourself on the effects of alcohol. Everyone reads the bottle on presciptions before injesting it why should alcohol be any different?! I'm just saying al lthe cameras and fences in the world will not stop any accidents from occuring it will just happen some where else. As long as no one changes their behavior accidents like these will never stop. So please if you drink don't drive and if you are too drunk to think ask for help for someone around you or the people your with. They thought it was cool to get you in this mess they should get you out of it. What kind of friends are these anyway?!

For a while here it seemed that each year there was one young man that would end up in the river. Nathan didn't commit suicide, I belive that with all my heart. He had been issued a citation for underage drinking, but that wouldn't have caused him to commit suicide. NOTE	There is still enough reasonable doubt in the M. Peterson case to fill a warehouse. Whether or not your gut feeling is that he is guilty, the State of North Carolina is failing to meet its burden of proof, and Rudolf, love him or hate him, is earning his fee in spades. My gut feeling is that he is guilty, but from a purely analytical standpoint, there is no way in hell a reasonable jury should convict him based on the evidence presented so far. NOTE	POE, I just spent over an hour, reading on the case of 'Thomas Clinton Holmes'... My heart breaks!.. It has been an emotional afternoon. The photo of McKeesport overview brings back sooo many memories for me...The area's are very fimiluar to me- as I go there to visit relatives... Why,Geez, Half of McKeepsport has a relative somewhere in our Family... My Father was born at 502 Sinclair St. I have sooo much to share with you...It's uncanny... ( All The Homes on the HILLS, with all those STEPS to climb!!! ) I will say this, although it may not be appropriate on your message board... My Father started out in the Coal Mines- as a very YOUNG Man, as did many of our ancestors there. Then early on, He joined the Steel Industry. He got active in the Union. Where there was Union..there was 'the mob!' Simple deduction....the rest I can ONLY share with you privately. I can't say ANYTGING certain here now...With all due respect, it comes to mind today-with a smile in my heart POE, ~'I bet My Father and Thomas are discussing the case as we speak!' As he eventually became a Judge, later on in life. My Father was ALWAYS for the underdog and was a decent man. Taught us Justice, for the wronged and the abused! Trust me! I will personally make a commitment, to make as many calls as I can, to ALLl my Family there, and make inquires regarding this case, for Thomas...It may take several weeks, but my word is my bond.. (I may not get thee answers you seek, but it can't hurt either! I will try to find out something, as I do still know many who live in McKeesport today... ( Even the 'McKee Family', mentioned in one of your cases on the board) As I said, We deffinately have a common bond...It truly does amaze me!... What a small world this really is!
