It was the movie that my husband and I went to on our first date. That was eight years ago. I am part Chinese but grew up with only a few traditions being born and raised in the Hawaiian culture. I have always been drawn to anything that would help me understand my Chinese heritage. When my husband and I went to the movie, we saw it in Chinese and read the English subtitles. Later, we bought the movie, but didn't realize that we had the movie in English. We returned it and got the version in its original language. For some reason, seeing the movie in English just did not give us that same feeling when we first saw it. I am glad that this movie has become a significant part in my life. I just realized that it is part of a series. I hope that they will allow the other four parts to be produced so that we are able to have the whole story from beginning to end. When watching this film I wondered why you accepted such a part since I don’t think that this film would have the large built-in audience that many of your other films would naturally have (e.g., action & glamour-type movies). Further, when weighed against the incredible inconvenience, danger, and difficulty of shooting such a movie on location, I was even more surprised that you accepted such a role.
