The root of this document begins: "CHARLES ROUNTREE, born about 1710 A.D. In 1730 A.D. he left Armagh, and went to Killigriffe, Bailieborough, where he married Mollie Coleman." According to my deceased Father, Lincoln Rountree (b. 2/12/1924 Rochester NY, US; d. 7/24/2001 Berwick PA US), my Irish ancestors are listed on that document although I haven't been able to positively identify exactly which branch yet.

Comments:My wife, Jackie who is a descendent from Simonton-Symington origin in Lanark Scotland going back to 1310 in the villiage of Symington. It seems that in 1620-30 the Symountoun Family (another spelling, but ancient) lost the Barony and in 1631 a Simonton showed up in Ireland. The records in North Ireland seem to be very sketchy as we have tried a lot to get information. Jackies Ancestor who came to America in 1725 married a guest who, "Mary Smith". Her Brother was an Archibald Smith who was from the Glebe of Urney in Tyrone NI. I assume they married in that Church so he would have probably lived withing walking distance of her place so they would have known each other. Since you said you had a family of Smith, I thought of sending this to you for two reasons. One the Smith Connection and the other you might know of how to search for things in NI. Again I want to thank you for your trouble in looking up the address' in the UK for Simonton.
Thanks a bunch!!

Comments:Hi Heather

Are you the same Heather Hunter who has was looking for Robert Page a Brewer in Ware, Herts - if so he is also an ancestor of mine. I believe he had a daughter called Mary Jane Page born 1818. I have her marriage cert from 1841 and she gives her father as Robert Page a Brewer. Mary says on the censuses that she was born in Ware and indeed was there in the census of 1851. I have a feeling that she may have been born in London - maybe Robert left Ware for a while early on. Indeed he is not listed in the 1823 Trade directory.

One of the witnesses on Mary Jane marriage cert was a Sarah Page - a sister perhaps - I do have a Mary Jane and a Sarah born 1818 and 1819 baptised in Shoreditch London to Robert and Mary Page.

In the 1881 census Mary suddenly says she was born in the City Rd and does not mention Ware - there is a City rd in Shoreditch.

How are you connected to Robert - I feel he had a middle name - Welford.

Bye from a very wet Northern Ireland.

e-mail you for a possible connection to some of the names you mention.the scots-irish within philadelphia at a time were a very close-knit group of people. i have been at this for 8 yrs....you mention the names of brown and fife. both of these are within my "tree". with hitting roadblocks regarding the tait name(where in ireland!!!!!!), i started researching the names of those who married into my family...
98 % of these families were from tyrone: the parishes of ardstraw, urney, langfield and the donegal/tyrone region.
in all of your research, have you ever come across the name of tait? chk. this list of scots-irish names out that i am connected to: tait, mckinney, reed, reid, brown, stevenson, law, galbraith, fife, glasse, hamilton, stewart, kelley, mccutcheon, guy, hayes and clark...could some of these names be any more common than they already are? thanks for reading this, john c. tait.

Comments:Great site. I've been trying to find it for some time. My cousin from Ireland told me about it. My grandfather Thomas Abraham Neilands is a brother to Margaret Neilands the 1st wife of Thomas smith and mother Of Bobby Smith of New Zealand. I have a photo of Bobby as a young boy at the Neilands home farm at Derrygoon. In the photo are his granny Neilands, 2 of his uncles David and Hugh and their families. If you'd like some info on the Neilands family let me know. I'd be happy to share.I also have a copy of Thomas and Margaret's marriage certificate if your interested.

regards
