| Comments: | Heather - was delighted to see a letter from my father ( Principal of Erganagh Primary School ) dated 1954 in connection with one of your ancestors. I never knew until now that my Grandfather was born c1844 and died 1922. So that has been a pleasure for me to get this information. My father's name was George , not Roger as his signature appeared to suggest. I was at school with Willie McAskie who lived near Drumlegagh, C'derg. | Comments: | One of my maternal great-great-great-grandfathers, John Allen, reportedly moved to Portinode townland in County Fermanagh, Ulster from the Castlederg area, County Tyrone. On January 14, 1840, he married my great-great-great- grandmother, Eleanor "Ellen" Loan Myles, a widow from Drumhullen parish, County Fermanagh and a daughter of James Loan, at the Drumkeeran parish church in northwest County Fermanagh. Afterward, they resided in Portinode townland, which is near Boa Island. Their first child, George Allen, was one of my maternal great-great-grandfathers. I live in San Diego, CA, USA and have many paternal and maternal cousins in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. |

I only have a copy of my fathers enlistment papers from WWII and his marriage and death certificates. I have a long way to go and no idea how to start. Although I am living in CA I think the family originally was in the NY area and moved to the Newark area of NJ in the mid 1800's. If you have any suggestions for me I would love to have them.
