| News Clip: | The Cooper-Jones Health, Education & Economic Summit
recently held in Memphis Tennessee, and hosted by State Representatives Barbara Cooper and Ulysses Jones addressed important issues related to Health, Education & Economics. The Summit presented important alternative approaches to health care and dealt with issues of access to health care for the under served communities. Several panels of Health Care administrators and health advocates discussed solutions to the problems of current health care delivery systems. Major educational issues surrounding Title One/Chapter One Educational programs dominated the educational seminars. The Youth Opportunity Memphis Movement presented programs demonstrating some of the unique teaching techniques used by master self-education specialist Clifford Black and others. Several departments from the Tennessee State Government participated covering various topics on doing business with the State. The event also featured a day at the Alex Haley Museum in Henning Tennessee. The Summit, which was the first of its kind, included Self- Directed and Controlled Investment topics presented by the Hannaian Investment & Publishing Group. Hannaian Distinguished Pioneer Awards were received by Broadcaster and Entertainer Rufus Thomas, famed Music Producer and Businessman Willie Mitchell, and Mayor Fred Montgomery of Henning Tennessee. Legislative resolutions and honors were presented to several Summit participants and community leaders in the Memphis area, including Clifford Black, Dr. Cindy Trimm, Sir Arlington Butler, and Dr. Harlington Hanna Jr. Cooper-Jones awards were presented to Speaker Pro Tempore of the Tennessee House of Representatives Lois DeBerry, and to Senator John Ford. Rep. DeBerry in her Keynote address at the Awards luncheon delivered a rousing speech advocating the need for more education and community involvement. The event also had the participation of the Memphis Chapter of the Congress of Black Churches, The Council for the Advancement for Minority Business Internationally (CAMBI), Community Health Resources Inc., and Bloomfield Urban Ministries. |

April 10-15, 2001 at the Marriott Downtown, Memphis, Tennessee. Several organizations will participate, including The Hannaian Investment & Publishing Group's "Conference on Self-Controlled & Directed Investments", Bloomfield Urban Ministries, Youth Opportunities (Y.O.)
