After reading most of the entries I decided to return and write a little myself, especially when I saw Cheri Marsh (who went to elementary with myself and Cherie Tyler) and Shirley Ross who had a lead role in "South Pacific" and sang beautifully. Not many will remember me - I spent most of my time in the choral dept. (TK Singers and with my beau Bill Shepard) After 25 years with Bill, I am in my second marriage to Charles (nuclear grade engineer who retired from FPL after 35 years). We have 5 children (mine-Kim (owns a Herff Jones Yearbook territory in Concord,NC and her husband is in Nascar) and his- JoAnn (head of dept. with state in Tallahassee),Sue (landscape architect who owns several businesses with husband Jeff in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Ft. Pierce),Bill (owns his own construction company in Boca) and Bob (also an engineer, like his dad,in Jacksonville). We have 15 grandchildren ranging from 2 weeks to 27 years old. Currently four are in college and two more go this summer. I retired from nursing and teaching but hated staying home so I teach Journalism at a Prep school in Pinecrest. We live near UM, my alma mater. I met several Hialeah grads through my husband, Bob Graesel, Ray and Gail Specht. It was weird meeting them so long after graduation but it has been fun, especially at reunions. We sail our 35' sloop and travel for fun. We are also very active in our church (Old Cutler Pres. So now I have caught everyone (whether they knew me or not) up on what has been going on the past 40 years.
I hope all of you have enjoyed your lives as much as I have. |

| Comments: | Hi all! Class of '65. After various jobs while attending MDCC (then MDJC)I went to work for the Dade County PW Department. An all expense paid trip to SE Asia followed at taxpayer's expense. Thank you very much. Since then a BSCE degree from FIU and a MPA from USF, Professional Engineer and Professional Surveyor, Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor, married, 3 kids and two step kids, a dozen grandkids and step grandkids. Currently Chief Engineer for Orange County Highway Construction counting time to retirement - can't wait to retire and hit the road in the RV, like Pete Ciolfi says he's going to. Love to hear from some of the kids I knew, especially in the concert band and marching band, trip to the Worlds Fair.

Our 2 children, Rachelle and Ryan, are civil engineers like my husband and they all work together in Fred's general contracting company. I taught elementary school for 8 years and now take care of grandchildren. We have 3 grandchildren, 2 boys and a girl. 6 yrs, 1 and 1. We had some damage from Katrina, but not nearly as much as a lot of people did. Our son and his wife lost everything in the flood. We love New Orleans, which is one of only 3 cities with a European type environment in the U.S. We travel to Europe each year and love seeing all the cities and countryside there. |

| Comments: | Barry here.. just checking in. Up here in Roswell Georgia along with dozens of Hialeah High Grads living in the Atlanta area. Sorry I missed the 40th reunion.. looks like everyone had a great time. I'm still happily married to Michele Dorion (Carol City class of 67). I retired from United Airlines back in 2003 after 35 years. Spend a lot of time traveling back and forth between Ireland and here doing research for my wife's Ireland travel guide. She writes the thing and not me (keep in mind I flunked 10th grade TV English). I just carry the bags and drink the Guinness. Hey Lefty.. wana go again to the Old Sod with us? (They still have lots of sheep and that beverage you like "Powers and White"!).
Time to hop on my Vespa (I still have it) and cruise on over to the Harley shop. I love the looks I get from the tattooed crowd. I didn't post my email address (spammers).. but you can find me in the above web site. Cheers! |

| Comments: | Ray Williams told me about this site and it's nice to read where everyone's life path has taken them..Although, I saw the list of deceased classmates and I was both shocked and very sad to see so that so many of the kids we all knew passed way before their time..I also read one of the postings looking for the owner of a class ring with the initials "DWD". I believe that ring belongs to David W. Davis. He sat next to me in a science class if I remember correctly and his middle initial was "W". I'm not sure, but I think he may have been killed in Viet Nam shortly after our graduation in 65...I seem to remember reading something about it? I have no idea if his family is still in South FL, or, how to contact them for that matter, but I'm sure they would like to have his ring....I live in Providence, RI and have been since 1968, and have not kept up with anyone from our class so it's fun to read everyone's posting. I live off of old cutler road.It used to be nice and quiet down here but, now they are just building everywhere and taken away all the pretty mango groves and everything. I too missed the 40th class reunion but heard it was very nice..I have two grown children a boy and girl.They are married and have children of their own..My oldest grandchild cindy goes to Palmetto Senior High and is a junior this year,my second grandchild kristen is in the fifth grade and my third grandchild olivia was born 12-19-05. We have left Florida and Cuqui and I now live in Charlotte. This is a great town, very young, and we feel like old timers here (guess we actually are now). Great neighbors and lots of fun activities. Work in the home building business and have gotten into NASCAR and the Panthers (now famous for their cheerleaders). Lefty sent me the website and as always, he has done a masterful job. (And to think we go all the way back to midget league baseball in North Hialeah together...He won the batting crown that year.) |
