I was born in GV as was my mother and her siblings. Only one aunt left now, was just there the other day for my Uncle's services at the Loney/Sanford on McCourtney Rd. The Johnsons have a long list of those who were in this area since the mid 1800's. You have done a great job and should be commended for it, thanks for this great site and keep up the good work. |

| Comments: | My anc. all went to the gold rush from Iowa. Amasa "Am" H. Mallory had holdings in Red Dog, and his sisters Mary "Mallory" married John Hoad, and Annis "Mallory" married Joel Atherton Stone in Red Dog. I was once told the Mallory's may have had a store in Red Dog. Some of my Mallory's are buried in the Gold Run Cem. and Annis & Joel A. Stone have a child buried there. Joel A. Stone I think belonged to the Red Dog Masonic Lodge, and the Gold Run Lodge. Amasa H. Mallory is buried in the Dutch Flatt Masonic Cem. A niece went to the cem. and a large tree is growing out of his grave. I have an old picture of Amasa H. Mallory. My Mallory family made several trips to the gold rush, and when they went with a team of Oxen my granddad always told us (his granddad Augustus went to the rush told him) "It took Six Months to the day to go from Iowa to Calif." They sailed around the cape a couple of times. When Hydrolic mining was banned Joel (who was a foreman for an English Co.), wife Annis and their children who were lvg. in Gold Run went to Johannisburg, South Africa where Joel was in charge of a Diamond mine. Joel, Annis are buried in South Africa.
I have not located some of the Mallory brothers who are prob. buried in that area of Calif. Alanzo H., Asa H., Alexander H., Joseph Austin Mallory. Joseph Mallory & Amasa I know had share in the Mallory Brothers stamp mill in Gold Run, Calif. I have not been to that Calif. area, but would like to visit there someday. I am still learning more about my Mallory family. I am really enjoying your pages. Thank You |

the grave site of James Edward Leopold. I now know he and his son, Raymond, burried four years after the death of James, in the same grave, are ,in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Nevada City. The name on the stone is LEOBOLD. I wonder if a photo was ever taken, and made available on the net. I would appreciate any kind offer of assistance. Thank you Owen McGinn |

| Comments: | Iam attempting to locate the gravesite of a James Edward Leopold, who was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, 1852, and who died in Nevada County in 1894. I n 1898, his son Raymond, then appx.10-11 years of age died of a communicable disease and was interred in the same grave as his father. I wonder if anyone would know where that grave is located, and if there were any obituaries in newspapers relating to one or both. James worked as a ditch tender, and appears in the 1880 census, married to a Hattie Brim. I would be so pleased to receive any information at all. Thank's O.M. |

I am searching for the grave of my great great grandfather, Emile Madelaine from Paris, France who committed suicide June of 1880 in French Corral. I have found an article on his death with all the grim details, but cannot find where they buried him. I am still looking but thank you for the site. I visited there during the summer and spent a lot of time at the library in Nevada city. I didn't get time to go to cemetaries. I picked him up in austin Nevada. I am sure that Margret and the newly born baby are in Grass valley. I'm also looking into the Horan's that owned the bed and breakfast in Grass Valley, James and Mary Horan. They are not reletives, but I found out they could be. Anyway It could be michael's brother or cousin. Gary |

| Comments: | An amazing undertaking (no pun intended!)
I'm looking for a branch of our family who travelled out to California in 1861, just out of interest. It would be nice to find a photograph on this site. The problem I have had in my local cemetary is that although the plots have been purchased, there was no marker. When I was shown the maps I could not believe how many graves were unpurchased 'paupers' graves, with no record of 'who'. Good luck! |
