Comments:Just looking around.....back in the mid 80's, I, my Father and Mother, made a brief stop in your town to visit my Great-Aunt. My Father took me to the cemetary and showed me the gravesites of our ancestors up on "the hill".

Great website - I hope everyone is successful in their quest of their own family histories!

Comments:I have to say that I am ashamed of the fact that there is
so little to find in regard to my black ancestors
My dad's family came from Southern Ohio. Blackfork, to be
exact.
The oldest African American Baptist Church was built on
his ancestors land. The original church burned down, but was rebuilt and still stands off of RT. 93.
Whether America wants to admit it or not, there are African
Americans alive and well and they do have a history.
Just because America is ashamed of the history that was forced onto the blacks during slavery, that doesn't mean that the African race should not be able to look back and find out where and who they came from. I want to know, even if it means that I find out who "owned" my great-grandparents. I have the right to know and it is Ohio's job to find out the history on all of it's residents, not just the white ones.
I am very disgusted that my family tree is bare and that I have no way to make it grow. Not only for me, but for my son. I want him to know his background as well.
