Did Iceland last year on my BMW R1100 RT (not an adventure model) and my girlfriend rode a Suzuki SV1000 - we made approx 3800 km in 17 days (4 days of party in Reykjavík + 2 days party in Siglufjørður) Heading for Ukraine this summer, but would like to go for Iceland again, for 4 weeks. I really apprechiated the scenic pics. from Brokke Suleskar and Telemark. These are places I favorite myself, I did Brokke Suleskar two weekends ago (with my BMW sidecar outfit tough). I do as Carl Erik stated, find great pleasure in using my "relic" 27 HD IOE for what it is made for; bad gravel roads in the country side. Going to Wings & wheels two years back was my longest weekend trip with more than 500km, no problem at all. I managed to find several gravelroads on my way back to Kristiansand that was new to me. Gosh, i envy your trip, there's nothing like going on a exploring trip with these old relics, they cope with a great lot more than anyone imagine and it is twice as fun to achieve. I'm stranded for the moment with an inferior con rod and low on funds so I'm going nowhere at the moment and it's killing me i'll tell you. All I can enjoy is travel stories like yours. Nice site! I enjoyed it very much. The mod's you want to make should improve the ride. I like the new 4-speed trannie but it is way to hi dollar for me. Ollie cams I have and will put them in a 80 motor this summer, now I live in a fairly flat area of the US so I am going to use a 27 tooth sprocket on the trannie. Should make shifting from 1st to second gear around 45 mph second to third gear at about 60-65 mph. Duff |
