Comments:I sent a question regarding Possum Trot Elementary School and it's location in the early 1920's. Noone was able to locate it - until my husband and I asked Ron Grimes at JCHS Researh Library and he sent us an email showing the Possum Trot School in on Henry Road and 1350 W Road in Graham Township. The plat was 1900. We visited the JCHS Research Library this past week. Ron and the staff were very professional and we were able to contribute some Deputy School Pictures from the 1920's thru the 1960's. We spent about 4 hours at the center- it was well worth our time. Now I have 1 question of you - when was Deputy High School closed and the elementary school built in it's place? We have what seems to be classes (2) at the high school - witting out on the front steps and we are trying to date this picture. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

They had one daughter, Lilly born about 1868 and moved to Washington, D.C. by the 1880 census. Lilly was born in INDIANA and presumably in Madison where her father was a blacksmith. Robert is the son of Henry and Susannah Lewis Samples Monfort of Madison. Any help would be appreciated.

James and Sarah were living in Howard Co., IN in the July 1960 census. My gg-grandmother Mary Elizabeth Hamilton was born in 1861 (Howard Co.) and James went off to war in 1862 never to return. I would like to find out who his parents were and something about his family. Thanks for a great site! Shirley Teal

Comments:Our research book states the following:
Anthony & Susannah had a son Nathan Hoggatt Sr born 1796. He married Polly or Mary Babb in 1820. They had 12 children. One was James born in 1826 and died in 1895. His brother Anthony is my line.
In our book it states: In the ear 1800's Anthony Hoggatt came from Holland first to N.C.?Penn?, then moved to Tenn. Some of his children, at least Nathan Sr was born before coming to America, as we have Nathan Sr. birth date as 1796.
Nathan Sr. married Polly Babb in N.C. or Penn and moved to Tenn. Then moved to Ohio about 1830 in a covered wagon. It was stated that Polly "could pick up a barrel of molasses and put it in the smokehouse."
Nathan Hoggatt Sr., Marion Township, Clinton County, Ohio served as Justice of Peace of Township April 16, 1826, 1839 and 1842.
Hope some of the info is helpful.

Name: Jim Housefield Webster

Comments:I've recently begun researching my mother's ancestory. My Great Grandfather Johann Heinrich Hausfeld and Great Grandmother Eliza Drauste were born in The Kingdom of Prussia, Germany 1820 and 1830. They changed their surname to Housefield after emigrating to Pennsylvania. From their union, my Great Grandfather Charles Housefield was born in Cincinnati 1853. The family moved to Bryantsburg where Charles later met and married Nancy Ann Kiser. Her family, also, emigrated from The Kingdom of Prussia, Germany. From this union my grandfather Clarence Housefield, Sr. was born 1894 on the upper bank of the Indian-KY Creek just east of Mud Lick (Bellview). Joseph Lane and Betsy Kiser Bates, the great grandparents of Nancy Kiser Housefield, my great grandmother, were reported to have donated land for a church and graveyard, now Hebron. The greater part of the Housefield family is buried there. My grandmother, Norma Gladys Buchanan, was born in Hicks, IN. Her parents were John Wilson Buchanan and Mary Etherton Buchanan. From the 1820's to 1940's, the Buchanans were substantial land owers across Shelby Township. Many Buchanans are buried in Hebron Cemetary. My Grandfather Housefield taught school in Brooksburg from 1925-1965. I was born in Brooksburg in 1938. My mother was Mary Kathleen Housefield. Sorry for so much history, but I can us any info about the Housefield and Buchanan familys.

Thanks for the Jefferson County Connection!!
