| Comments: | Wow, congrats! Although I recently lost weight naturally (80lbs in 10 months), I was considering the surgery for a short period. In total I wanted to lose 90-100lbs and my doctor recommended that instead of yo-yo dieting like I had for my entire life, I try eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly. Luckily, I am young and doing just that worked. Although our stories are different, you are an inspiration to me. I can identify in many ways, I was always a chubby person growing up and I've struggle with weight my entire life. I give you a lot of credit for building this site. I had a great time sifting around. You're done a great job, I hope you give yourself as much credit as you deserve. |

| Comments: | I think everyone who is dangerously overweight should at least consider WLS as an option. It has given my life back to me, I am not stared at as a spectacle anymore. Little kids don't refer to me as that "big fat lady" in the stores anymore. I just had my plastic surgery to take care of the extra skin and to replace some "other lost" assets. It is usually worth the risks, and I can say that first hand due to certain comorbidities that I had prior to WLS. They ALL went away within the first 3 months post-op. |

I researched WLS for 2 mo. before making an apt. with my primary care physician to go through the steps to get an apt. for a consultation with the medical group that would handle my surgery. My consultation went well and i decided on the Lap Band. My consulatation was in April, so it took 4 mo. to get a surgery date. My surgery will be handled by the Minimally Invasive Surgery group @ Sedars Sinai in Los Angeles, Ca. I am very excited. I will write back giving up-dates on how my surgery went and progress on my weight loss. Weight, post-op- 275lb, 5'8 and a 42" waist Goal-140lb *VBS* Wish me luck!! |

Im terrified of complications but with my insulin dep diabetes, severe arthritis and fibromyalgia neccessitating an enormous amt of pain meds-Oxycontin at 260 mgs daily!! and 3 celebrex and 3 muscle relaxers (and I still cant sleep!)and 9 other rx meds, I have no hope w/o it. Your pics look great! My goal is 140 lbs but dont know if thats possible w/o exercise which I cant do w/ all the arthritis. Maybe that will change |

It was hard to diet with a husband who could eat everything and not gain. Now, I can control my food intake easily. I still crave the sweets etc.....that will never go away. Lap band is not a quick fix but a life long commitment to the weight loss. The best part of surgery is that you will succeed and if you fall off the diet and eat the pint of icecream it is so easy to get back on the diet. NO FAILURE SELF HATE SYNDROME.... you know the guilt you fell off the diet and then more guilt and more icecream etc. |

| Comments: | you look great i bet you feel even better. so may I ask how tall you are? I still have not decided on my idea weight. The last time weighted I had lost 148 lbs but that was 2 month ago. I feel like I am ready for the plastic surgury part because my back hurts so much from my sagging belly and butt. One night while I was cooking supper my husband came up behind me because I was complaining of back back and he lefted up on my butt you would not believe the instant relief I had from him doing that and when I look in the mirror and sqeeze everything to one side or push it up and what not I almost look as if I could be normal. Have you or do you plan on having any of the plastic surgury part? About my first question well I thought I wanted to weight about 175 and I am 5' 11" and as I look at people much shorter that I am and they look good and weight like 175 to 200 and I think maybe my goal should be much higher. And if you are unsure where Manchester is I am 60 miles East of Cincy and 60 miles West of Portsmouth so that may help you may I ask wher you are located and I also went to kettering med to have surgury my Dr. was Dr. Fallang his home office is in Middletown Ohio. | Comments: | I am so glad that I have found someone that is going through the same things as me. I had surgery on April 23, 2002, and I have already lost 121#'s. The Doctors are amazed! I still have over 100#'s to loose, but I was the Doctors first patient for the gastro/bypass, and we still haven't got around to setting up a support group, and a nutritional group. I am just learning what I can tolerate, and not tolerate. I only eat about 1oz of food at a time. Any way, I'm glad you are letting people look into your private journal. I hope to hear from you. |

| Comments: | Thanks so much for your wonderfull web-site. Your story is like so many of the ones I've read on the internet. Keep writing and encouraging people because this is such a worthwhile cause. I am very happy with my surgery (DS). I've lost 80 lbs. My husband had surgery (DS) six weeks before me. He has lost 100 lbs. Our doctor is Dr. Hares of Bloomfield Bariatrics. He and Jackie (nurse who runs whole program) are the most professional and compassionate team you could ever find. They have saved our lives. There are spaces waiting for them in heaven. I am very happy for you and I encourage anyone to procede with this surgery. | Comments: | Hard to have WLS in Hawaii -- have to wait appro. 6 ms just to do consult. A bit frustrating... but don't want to have to fly to the mainland like a girlfriend did (she had lap band and paid more than 13K.

| Comments: | Hi Everyone, I've just started this adventure about 3months ago. I've been extremely depressed since 1983 after my son was born. You see I'm still 253, 5'4 and still unable to lose the "baby fat"! What a laugh huh! I had to finally face that fact that I'm very sickly, with several bulging dics in my lower back, high blood pressure, and ulcer etc and I'm TIRED of being obese. When I got married in 1978 I weighed about 140 in a size 10-12. Now I'm in a 24. I cannot walk very much because I've lost alot of cartiledge in both my knees, due to the weight. I use to be obsessed with step aerobics, biking, weights, tennis, basketball, you name it, it did it. I've been on every diet like everyone else and have probably lost about 30-40 pds. But lets just say it's back and they brought some addtional enemies with them. Ive done a great deal of research on the gastric bypass surgery, and I'm quiet aware of the risks, but at this point in life I am dying inside anyway so why not. The sucess stories are more than encouragement for me, they have become a sense of inspiration, strength and determination that I'm going to be a success or (inspiration ) story also, borrowing no unforseen accorances! My 23 yo daughter, my 22 yo daughter and my husband have been so unbelieveably supportive. When I looked at my odds with my illness and weighed them with the gastric bypass, I knew that carring this weight much longer was going to kill me and I really want to be around for my family alot longer. I know with any surgery there are risks, and I had 3 c-sections, a biopsy, a hernia op, tennis elbow op, and had my tubes tied, so the fear of surgery, especially with my doctor really doesn't scare me half as much as being a walking time bomb waiting to have a heart attack or something worse. I so look foreward to letting you all know how I'm doing after my surgery. Truly, thank you all for the wonderful courage and inspiration to go ahead with this solid decision!!!! Sincerly Claud |
