You said to me that you were treated like an animal there, and that is why I wrote you. The problem with the death penalty in America is that those on death row are depersonalized, stories on the Internet read like a casefile, list the last mean and one final sentence. There is so much more to a person than the crime they've committed. I wrote Donell because I thought I could send some books and some comfort but had no illusions to what I was actually capable of. Donell gave me the opportunity to hear from a person, not just a yahoo news report. That was good for me, and I am grateful that he wrote me back.

On 11/01/2006 I was reading an article pretaining to a man who was released from prison after serving 20+ years for a crime he did not do and there was a hyperlink within the story and just so happen I clicked on it and there was a long list of people waiting to be executed. I happen to choose the line with Donell's name on it and began to read his story. I must admit, at first I did not how to view reading not only his letter but several others asking for something so simple as a letter to be wrote to them to pass time by in a place no doubt that may seem like time has stopped and wherein here time flies by.Even after choosing other inmates to read about Donell's picture and story kept reappearing to my screen. At the time I thought nothing of it until I decided to log onto Fox news again today to find out he was executed. My heart was sadden. Why? Well because I believe we all as humans make choices that sometimes are followed by consequences in which we feel is a little extreme. But, I am a firm beleiver that God can change anyone that will only allow him to do so. Also it is my belief that we all must learn that we donot give life that life is given by God so there for it is not our social resposibilty to take anothers life or be judged for what we have done wrong. I just wanted to say that running across Donell's story and others have changed my way of thinking about life. From this point on I will never view life the same. I will learn to cherish every single minute on this earth. My husband, in whom I just married in August and my son of which is nine years old will see a part of me they have never saw in their whole lives. I will not take my parents,siblings, friends and people I don't even know for granted. Simple things in life we have each and every day can be like a dream to someone who cannot obtain them. I pray for every one of the inmates in Texas on death row and also all other facilities and I pray at some point each one will gain that spritual peace that no one can give but God above. And to the victim's family, I pray for peace as well. Losing a loved one is never easy and the pain sometimes seem unbearable but God is there to walk beside us and carry us if need be during those times. I hope someone else will feel the need to evaluate their lives and correct issues that need to be corrected based on having the ability to do so without restrictions or limitations from others. Datum: 01.11.06 13:26:05 Uhr you make not get this in time Hey man- hopefully you'll get this before tomorrow night.. well hopefully you'll get a stay of execution and an appeal- your lawyer should argue it is cruel and unusual punishment to execute you without being abl(violation of your 8th amendment right, guaranteed by the United States Constitution). They may not be REQUIRED to grant you an appeal- but it's worth a shot. Unless you don't want to try and appeal There are worse people than you who have committed much worse crimes that went 20 years or more before being executed. Do you have remorse for what you did? That is what is most important, I would say. If tomorrow was my last day, I'd make sure to try and be at peace with myself and the family of the person I had killed. Hello Donell, my name is Rosio Rivera and I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I was reading the news online and saw a news report about you. I'm really sorry to hear about what you've done. I'm not writing to lecture you because i'm not that type of person. I will be honest with you though, it wasn't at all something to be proud about, But I can clearly see that you are a very loyal and trustful person. I wish I would have had more time to write to you...before today. I just wanted to talk to you about a few things. I was wondering if you've found Jesus Christ in your life. I know you might think its late for you to consider Jesus as your Lord and Savior, but you know what...its never to late...I know you dont know me and hey I dont know you either, but I would like to offer you a chance to experience an eternal life in heaven. All you need to do is ask God to forgive you of your sins and praise him until your lasting day. Hello Donell For some unknown reason except that the Lord directed me to your message I ended up finding it. I certainly wasn't looking for anything to do with inmates or death row. So I guess you could say maybe it was divine appointment... and I sure hope you get to read this. I read your info and you are right nothing in this world is certain except the Lord... I know you probably have heard it a hundred times especially being there but - you have nothing to lose by calling on the name of the Lord..... Turn your life over to him RIGHT NOW... he may not save you in this world but it sure will make all the difference on the other side or eternity. All is takes is the Words..." Jesus I'm sorry and Save Me"..... Now that we have that out of the way..... Yes we all make wrong decisions and I am sure if you could back up time you would do things differently but you are correct you are not an animal - God didn't create you to act in that way..... I am sure deep down you have a heart as big as the moon.... it just never had a chance to develop. God sees what no one else can and can care more than anyone else can..... You will never know me or meet me but I just wanted to let you know someone does care enough to write to a total stranger and wish them the best - maybe the Lord will even grant you a stay........ God can do mighty things..... just ask Him. I will watch and see what happens ...... I am not from Texas I am from the East Coast so I will have to search online to find out.....but I will and that should show you that people do care in this world....
