However, my family has quite an entensive history here including having the Hutts as the original owners of Quaker Oats, Laura Secord married into the family and William Hutt was one of the first recipients of the Order of Canada and has a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame. My father has done extensive historical background on my Hutt side and could possibly have some information you may be interested in. If so, let me know.

From what I can trace my great great grandfather was David livingstone's cousin. John Hutt his mother was Livingstone's mother's sister who also married a John Hutt from Scotland. I am also told and how true this is I am not sure but buried next to King Bruce in the West Minster Abbey is a Captain John Hutt who was his cousin. We were told for years we are related. | Comments: | Just found your site, very interesting, I am Fourth generation Canadian, my Great-Grandfather arived from England as a single young man in the late 1800's and settled in Ontario as an early homesteader.My Grandfather who was born on that farm became a respected pioneer in Canadian aviation engineering, having started as a 16 year old who lied about his age in order to join the Canadian Flying Corp in 1917. World War 1 ended prior to him seeing action, he and two of his son's, my Father and one of two Uncles eventually settled in Vancouver B.C. (West Coast) after world war 2. Still here!(Chilliwack B.C.)

| Comments: | I was born in 1954 and brought up in Surrey. For the past 3 generations my family was brought up in Lambeth sth London, prior to that from around 1810 they lived around the Bethnal Green area and before 1810 came from Wolston in Warwickshire.
I've got a line back to around 1600 and am now trying to fill out the side branches. I'd be particularly interested to hear from anyone with information on Hutts from around Coventry, Bedworth, Wolston etc or the London area. | Comments: | My family are based in the Midlands of England in a place called Old Hill in the Black Country. It was originally called Old Dell. I do know that my ancesters were itinerant boatmen and worked the canals in the 1800's. I have traced a John Hutt back to 1830. One source claims that the name originates from the Saxon word for an inland river port and would have been originally Huthe or something similar. Given my ancestors boating history and the fact that goods and supplies have been moved by river or canal for centuries in the Midlands that does make sense. A large nearby river port was - still is - Stourport on Severn.
