| Comments: | ROTARY PHOTOGRAPHS
A high-quality photograph can greatly improve the chances of our press release being used. Be imaginative when taking pictures. Try to take photos that show ACTION or TELL a STORY. A photo of a group of people staring at the camera will not excite editors. Use a professional photographer whenever possible. Also, newspapers generally require black and white photos. Include a caption taped to the back of the photo describing what is happening in the scene and naming everyone pictured, from left to right. Try to have no more than 3 people in the photo; it gives the picture more focus. If possible, bring ACTION to the photo. Avoid the classic handshake, as many editors consider it overused. Use black-and-white prints for the best reproduction. Do not use Polaroids. They don’t print well. Plan NOT to receive your photo back. Do not send in your last picture if you wish to keep it. Identify the people in a photo, left to right, and place the information on the back of the photo with a self-adhesive label. Do not print on the photo, as handwriting can be difficult to read and may damage the photograph. |

| Comments: | ROTARY PHILOSOPHY
“I believe it is Rotary’s destiny to become the most important, significant, non-profit, non-government, and non-religious organization in all the world’s history. ‘Rotary has a rendezvous with Destiny.” Rotary is of great value. It changes the course of human life. It changes the lives of every Rotary beneficiary, as well as the lives of each Rotarian. It is a worthy of our time, effort, energy, means, and commitment; and it brings people together. It is a privilege to be a member of the world’s oldest and most distinguished service club. I has always amazed me that Rotary works. Men and women of every race, creed, nationality, politics, culture, language, color, religion and every ethnic background, coming together each week in some 33,000 cities, towns, villages, and municipalities all over this planet of ours to break bread and work together to serve others and solve problems. It is surely what the Lord intended when he told us to “Love one another.” Rotary WORKS because its ranks are filled with the finest people on the globe. Managers, professionals, owners, and executives, men and women of competence, leadership, skill, integrity and most of all, GOODWILL. Rotary, lives on a daily basis, the eternal hope of mankind. “Peace on earth and goodwill toward men!” Indeed, ROTARY is of GREAT VALUE. It is my firm conviction that Rotary’s best days lie ahead. We have demonstrated our strength and our ability to solve the problems of mankind on this globe. Because of Rotary’s service, will make the 21st century the PRIME of Rotary service and mankind’s best century ever. I see the day, when people everywhere will recognize the Rotary wheel as the hope, help and life of mankind. The people who SOLVE problems. |

| Comments: | I'm just surfing the net a bit to find out more about the club that's been so good at supporting us! I work with Didi at the Lotus Children's Centre in Mongolia, the recipients of your bridge day in October. The children have made you a card which should wing its way to you soon, so this is just a quick hello and thanks! We now care for over 140 children, our latest was a wee boy two months old who was found abandoned at a bus stop. We're still choosing a name for him, someone suggested "Erel" as that's the factory beside the bus stop, but I think we'll go for something else! Thanks to all of you for helping us to look after him and all the others, love from all the Lotus Family out here in -29 degrees! |

I am member of Karmøy Vest Rotary Club in Norway, and we were first host family of Scott Johnston in January 1997. I have tried to get in touch with him on e-mail, but the mails were all returned. Probably he has changed his adress. My wife and i are planning a visit to Australia and Sydney in august/september this year. Can you help me get i touch with Scott? Please, if possible, give him my e-mail adress and kindly ask him to get in touch wit us Ove Midtskog |
