I am one of many consumers out there who is absolutrely sick of the sheer number of remakes being flooded in the theatres lately. I am a big fan of the first TCM and would hate to see a remake period, let alone a remake untrue to the original in style, form or quality. WHo thinks remakes are good ideas anyways? Then I saw Armeggedon (wich to this day is still my fav. movie) and couldn't beleave the talent playing right in front of me. Pearl Harbor was another masterpiece. I never saw a director who could actually interpret an incredible music score through perfect visuals. The cinematography had a feel to it that I only dreamed about. Both Armageddon and Pearl Harbor were perfect. They had just the right amount of everything in every scene (color, light, etc.) The music was always speaking through the scenes. I just got laid-off from the Wonderfully Sardonic World of Disney/Touchstone Television, LLC. I think it's because of movies like, "Pearl Harbor" (only kidding) that didn't meet their projected dollar intake...not that it hasn't already made its money back, just that it didn't meet their dollar goals. Not to mention...extremely bad development and programming over at ABC. It's nice to know that you are getting back to basics and working on projects for the sake of telling a good story. There's hope for you yet. As for favorite movies, can't say I have one of yours. Although, I must admit that "Bad Boys” and “Armageddon" did have a few good one-liners. Also, can't say I've seen "Pearl Harbor." Having parents who were interned during WWII and not giving any credence to the American's of Japanese decent and what they had to endure...didn't make it a feasible movie to see. |

| Comments: | PEARL HARBOR is one GREAT film!! THANK YOU MICHAEL BAY (and Jerry Bruckheimer) for giving so much, and putting up with so many difficulties, to get this film made. I have long ago given up paying any attention whatsoever to the so-called "critics"; I can decide what to think about a film for myself, without their biased, agenda-toting, pre-conceived drivel poisoning the artistic world. Let's face it, they are paid big bucks to "criticize" . . . oh, well.
In every way, from script to cinematogrpahy to casting to musical scoring, this film was superb and a great contribution to this and future generations who will hopefully see it and see it often. Comparing "PEARL" to Titanic is ridiculous; PEARL HARBOR necessarily covers so much more ground, and does it magnificently, and I'll just leave it at that. It is unfortunate that pressure and constraints by Disney/Touchstone forced Michael Bay to make this a PG-13 film, and also that the present era of "political correctness" softened and nearly sweetened the image of the Japanese leaders of the 1930s and 1940s. (For those who don't have the foggiest idea of what I am speaking of here, the Japanese committed atrocities during and prior to World War Two that would make Hitler proud, atrocities not only against Americans, but even more so against their fellow Asians. One VERY SMALL example was the butchering of at least a quarter million Chinese in direct retaliation for the assistance that Chinese peasants gave to Jimmy Doolittle's "raiders" after they crash-landed in China in April 1942.) Back to the film itself, "PEARL HARBOR" accurately captures not only the essence of that singular event, but also tells the story (through Rafe, Danny, Evelyn and several others) of countless acts of bravery, self-sacrifice, and lives tragically interrupted or cut short during the world's most critical conflict. For that accomplishment alone, Michael and Jerry deserve our thanks and the thanks of movie-goers and historians alike. It is very unfortunate that so much attention has been given to criticism of scripting, dialogue, or minute and insignificant details. This is a brilliant period-piece of life in the early 1940's, America's last Age of Innocence, yet it is contemporary enough to bridge the generations and be refreshing, funny, poignant, and heroic - - - and most of all, TRUE TO THE TIMES and faithful to the story of what really happened in 1941. What else could anyone ask for ?? I have been very aware of the audiences in the theatres where I have seen "PEARL" (a few times) and I was struck by the fact that almost nobody behaved in the negative ways that have become almost commonplace these days. People sat transfixed for three hours, (which felt like much, much less), did not talk amongst themselves, did not leave the theatre for any reason, and at the end of the film, you could hear quiet weeping from almost every corner, and see people sitting in thoughtful silence, much longer than after most any other movie I have ever seen. Even when departing the theatre, the atmosphere and demeanor of almost everyone there was quiet, subdued thoughtful and respectful. Not many movies can do that, and those things speak volumes about the quality and the impact of "PEARL HARBOR" on its audiences. THANK YOU again, Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer, for this excellent film. I look forward with great anticipation to the release of the DVD "director's cut" in the months ahead. P.S. | Comments: | well, i think pearl harbor really deserved an A+. it is the best movie and the saddest movie i have ever seen in my entire life. i asw pearl harbor twice and i bought the cd and i'm waiting for the dvd to release. i just love pearl harbor. those stupid newspaper people (who graded pearl harbor C) should really get a new pair of eyes and go to the eye doctors. i think kate beckinsale is a beautiful and graceful and amazing and a gorgeous actress but her role in the movie is really really sad but i like her role. also the other actor and actress did a super great job. i aways tell my friend that pearl harbor rock. i think that michael bay is the best sad movie director. wish all you guys who is reading my comment good luck and go see pearl harbor and go buy the cd and poster and dvd or vhs. pearl harbor rocks !!!

Pearl Harbour is amazing 1 of the best films i've ever seen so brilliantly put together and jerry bruckhiemer is my fave procucer cos hes so good at it. I really admire both these guys cos they,ve shown me what i want to do with my life, i wnt to be involved in the film industry at first i wasnt sure why but when i see micheal and jerrys work i know exactly why i wanna be in the industry. I like all the films micheals directed cos they've all been so awesome and he always casts great actors who portray the characters so well. I know im a film bore but hey i love everything to do with film but i wont bore you guys anymore than i have 2 so bye!
