money off cd's or even ticket sales(after venue & managers
take their cuts). Depending on popularity of the band the
possibility on the high end is $15,000. in sales at a
2,000 seat sold out concert theatre. There's something
to think about. Hope that cube van is nicely decorated-
Get a camcorder & make a video for America's Funniest

Patiently waiting for the fans to post some reviews of this past weekend-so far they haven't recovered. I found a website snity.com.au in Australia that is selling BNS t-shirts with the pig on front for $36.50 each-How's that
for merchandising??? These folks know how to make extra $$$$.
Keep up the great work on the road. Great things will
happen because you guys are taking your careers into
your own hands. You will realize great things and find
potential future bookings because of the 2004 F B'k Tour.
Love to the entire band!

Comments:This post is for those who missed it at Brand New Sin's
Website which is CENSORED!!!! A little background will let
you understand my original post was in light of the fact
that this band has been without money to pay their bills
for 1 1/2 years or longer for some band members while they
tour and work on new material for their next cd. I was so
excited just being able to hear a sample of their fine
demo that they submitted to their label that I posted the
following on their website. I have been writing for probably
longer than most of you have been alive and I am a true
supporter of Brand New Sin. Their music is from the heart,
it is heavy,it's got great southern rock, metal, blues,
soul and rock influences. They are great performers, dedicated musicians and they don't sing pop,
cutesy music!!!! True fans know this. They were also
extras in the highly successful movie "School of Rock"
which we are all glad they earned some money from Paramount
studios for being on that production. Now...if you have any
sense you will understand my post is not bashing anyone
but taking a past accomplishment and relating it to a current work ethic that is producing some great lyrics and
incredible music.....this post is an analogy....it compares
how a student achieves good grades in school to how BNS
has created a new cd for their fans......
Title: The Agony of Waiting
I realize that many of us are agonizing over the sophomore
release of a BNS cd(If you check Bardirecords website you'll
see upcoming releases are nice, sweet, soft, mellow, radio
friendly pop which ain't what we at this forum are looking
for!!). How about some in your face, loud, wailing guitars
with all that '80's metal, southern rock influence plus
more(almost forgot the great drumming!) that kicks ass???
Yes, that's whst these fans crave!!!! Now, that I've got you
saying "YEAH!! THAT'S RIGHT!!!!" let's look at the process..
The next time these guys take the stage you are gonna see "School of Rock" graduating to "College of Rock"-these
guys are studying their craft, they are doing their homework, they are completing extra credit projects. They
are not just handing in basic book reports-BNS is rewriting
the whole damn book-boldly handing it back and saying "Now
here's your lame ass book rewritten and better than when
we got it!!"
This transition is taking time but the process is so worth it. BNS will NEVER(originally I wrote not -it's NEVER) let
their fans down. They are working hard because you the fans
will be grading the final exams and they expect straight
A's. It will never matter what the music critics, newspapers
or magazines say since they know what you want to hear.
Lastly, many of you may belong to cd clubs and have seen the
following 'Sales Restriction': 'This cd is not discounted
or offered as a free selection at this time do to the large
demand' -I want that restriction next to the new BNS cd
when it is released!!!(and Worldwide ditribution for our
international fans on the BNS forum.)...Peace.

That was the post....if you want to bash me...Mr Dean
said you're free to speak here....

What have I learned? ......I don't practice enough!

*It seems that the more you know, the more you need to know.

*There is always someone better. You can quit or you can practice and try to keep up.

*KEEP GOOD TIME! Good timing (feel/groove) is more important than good fills!

*Have fun at the drum set; the crowd feeds off that energy and it reciprocates back to you (adrenaline rules).

*The most important thing I've learned is regardless of your skill level you should get out there and PLAY! Don't sit idle and don't talk yourself out of performing live. Get off your ass and hit those drums!

Now do yourself a favor and go to my drum links page and learn! I suggest Drum Bum, Drum Dogs, Modern Drummer, and Drum Forum.

Revised quote for musicians: "Practice makes perfect...only if you pracrtice perfectly." What does that mean?

If it doesn't groove in time you are playing it too fast! Get it right before you work on speed. Practice relaxed enough to keep any beat or exercise continuously for a long period of time without making mistakes and without pain or muscle fatigue.

I'm done now.

PLAY THE DRUMS EVERY DAY!

NO EXCUSES!

Also, request Brand New Sin on the radio!

Comments:Yo, What's up? Hey, I'm looking for someone good to play with. I don't have alot of time, but I'm damn good at dividing it, filling it, and keeping it. My family is my #1 priority and anybody I play with will have to respect that. I need at least $55000.00 per year to devote more than a couple hours a week to any band. I've been serious about playing the drums for the past 23 years. I spent 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, in sickness and in health, doing what it took to become a professional. I have a family now. I have to support them. I don't believe in following social trends. I prefer to set them. Letting the state or some other man support or bring up my family is not an option for me. I'm a creative and outstanding musician. I'm not looking for wishy washy people to play with. I'm drug and alcohol free.I'm looking for talented, creative and patient musicians with standards no less than mine. I can learn anything easily. A tape is sufficient for audition material. I don't have an easy schedule to work around but can find the time when nessesary. My future goal is to do what I love and be around the people I love and be able to support them at the same time. I know this is a tall order, but if you don't think big, you won't become big. What good is it all if you can't share it? If you know anyone;e-mail me. God Bless You.-Bill P.S. I want to do stuff that's is real heavy with lots of groove. I'm open to suggestions though.-Later

Comments:It's funny because I personally play with alot less desire to show off these days. I just want the song to make sense and to play with great feel.

However, when I see a drummer tearing it up and blazing a trail of fire being the kit it adrenalizes me and I feel like I need to practice and work out some badass fills.

Then I just go back to my simplicity and just groove anyway.

So, even though I'm layed back as a drummer, I still love it when a drummer scares me (Carter Beauford, Dave Weckl, Terry Bozzio, you know the rest...)
