| Comments: | Hello Ladies,
(I think you will enjoy the Golden Age of trucking photos on our site) I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and our project, "Dispatch Me Home" to the Truckers Wife Club. My name is Greg Martin, I am a writer and a trucking enthusiast, after many years of sitting on the sidelines I felt it was time to step up to the plate and try to make a difference. I want to change the negative perception of the American Trucker by the driving public and unfortunately much of the media. I want the notion of driving of a truck to be a terrific career decision, one filled with hard work, travel and personal satisfaction. I have written the story of a gentleman truck driver that has always walked the walk, and talked the talk. Sam Morris, better known to his many friends as ‘Sam the Man’, has decided that after 40 years on the road it is time to leave the good dispatches to the younger drivers. The phrase ‘Dispatch Me Home’ is now becoming synonymous with a ‘Veteran trucker leaving the road.’ We have put a lot of time and effort into this project. I would appreciate it if you could take a moment to visit our website, www.dispatchmehome.com. We have placed three of the shorter audio chapters on the home page for your listening pleasure, as well as added some additional ‘Sam’ photos and music. I have been working closely Hank Suderman, http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/trucks.htm over the past year to secure the approvals needed to post the great photographs on the site. As you can imagine, there is a heartwarming story behind each of them. The trucking industry needs a positive shot in the arm. I am confident that “Dispatch Me Home” will be a step in that direction. The story of ‘Sam the Man’ will serve as a promotional tool for the industry. It is a feel good story about an aging trucker who while taking his last run across his America, realizes that becoming a trucker long ago was the best decision he had ever made. With your assistance, we can bring the story of ‘Sam the Man’ to the attention of the general public. Four wheelers, as well as Eighteen. “Dispatch Me Home” the movie, will be much like baseballs, ‘Field of Dreams’, but for the trucking industry. We are looking for support. Sponsors are welcome. To show our appreciation, we will gladly post your organizations name and link on our website. With your assistance we can bring “Dispatch Me Home” to a movie theatre near you. Help us, to Help you, Help our Industry . Thank you for your time and consideration. We can sure use your help! Have a ‘Sam the Man’ kind of Day! | Comments: | I have been a trucker wife now for 12 year.It is a job that definitely keep them away from home.Thank god for cell phone. That we can talk with them at anytime. My father was a truck driver and it wasn't easy to get ahold of him many years ago.Six years ago.My Husband& I purchase our own truck and became owner operaters. My husband trucks & I take care of the books & I'm a dispatch to him & other truckers.Recently I find out that my husband was having and affair with some women in gallup,NM.For over a year.It did throw me for a BIg loop.I'm having a hard time trusting him now.How I find out was thru the cell phone bill.I'm not saying that all trucker behave this way.We do live such separate lifes. And my husband told me he likes to flirt there is no harm in it.I don't see it that way.But his behave has been alot better. He was home for 3 month because there was no work.I like to talk with someone that has been in my shoes.I do love my husband. But I feel that this has changes eveything. We have talk with someone in regards to this matter.I'm 48 years old and I think isn't for me any more.
I have been with my husband for 29 years. So it broke my heart.Well I'll leave you with that. |

| Comments: | I have been a truckers wife for almost a month. Although, I met my husband while he was on the road I still find it hard to get through the day. I have 3 children that are from a previous relationship. It makes the day so much harder when the children are missing him. I find that the hardest part of the day is when I put the kids to bed and he is not here to spend my "quiet time" with me. He just had a month off of driving and it spoiled me to have him here everyday. It is hard and I just keep reminding myself that I am strong and I can do it. It helps me to think that he will be coming home eventually. It kinda gives me a light at the end of the tunnel. If any of you wives out there have any ideas to help me manage my loneliness and missing him please feel free to email me. Tootles |

Dear Friends, I’d like to share with you some background highlights of an awesome story, our story to be exact… It surfaced a little over 8 years ago, originating on opposite sides of the planet. I, Barb had recently made a major, life-changing decision to alter the course of my life. I had spent 27 years of my life dedicated to spreading The Good News (the Word of God) utilizing the media of communication. I was a member of the Daughters of St. Paul, an international group of women who dedicate their life, energies and talents to spreading the Gospel. Like any lifelong commitment, motivations need come from a clear understanding of one’s life-purpose. In my case, I arrived at that clarity of motivation only after 27 years. I realized that I needed to be true to myself and to God; this is where and when the life-changing decision took place. I chose to leave that particular life of commitment and very soon after found the path that God had intended for me to follow. I knew this with surety because I finally found the peace of heart that I had been searching for during the previous 27 years! As a member of the Daughters of St. Paul, I had learned many technical skills (offset press operator, video duplication technician, “God’s sales rep”, artist…to name a few). However, it was the valuable lesson of “work as though it all depended on you, but trust because the outcome all depends on God” which led me to finding my new path in life! For a couple of years I searched for my niche in the everyday life outside of the convent life that I had lived for those 27 years… Finally, I started my own business: Barb Rimmele’s Household Assistance Services. Only a short 6 weeks after starting my business, did I receive my first email from my future husband in response to my Yahoo Personals ad. His messages arrived in my Inbox usually in the middle of the night. So I asked him if he worked the night shift or something like that. Imagine my surprise when he responded that he lived in Manila, Philippines! We corresponded daily via email, instant messaging and for a while, even phone calls for 4 years, getting to know each other quite well. Finally, I decided to find out for sure if this gentleman was really the right person for me to live with for the rest of my life. I re-financed my house mortgage and made a trip from St. Louis, MO to Manila, Philippines to find out… The moment I arrived and met him in person, I realized that he was truly the person God wanted me to spend the rest of my life with! We arranged a Civil Marriage ceremony shortly before my return to St. Louis, MO. It was another 3 long years before we were able to live in the same country. In the course of those 3 years, my husband, Joel, moved from Manila Philippines to Abu Dhabi, UAE (United Arab Emirates). I gave my business to a young woman in St. Louis who was in urgent need of a steady income; then packed up a few of my belongings and flew to Abu Dhabi, UAE with $1,800 in my pocket on December 15th 2007. At long last we were able to live together as husband and wife! In the ensuing year, two thoughts/saying have sustained us through some very difficult times. “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans!” And “The joy is in the journey, not the destination!” After sending out literally hundreds of copies of my resume’ during the first six months after my arrival, I finally was able to obtain employment with a local airline company. One thing we learned very quickly is that in this particular country, there is a law which prohibits employers from hiring anyone near 60 years old for any position except an executive position. Joel has an extensive array of skills which he has utilized in the course of his life, among them being an OTR tractor/trailer driver for several years. His dream is to again be on the road as a long-distance driver, most specifically in the USA. I too welcome the idea of joining him as a Team Driver particularly back in the good ol’ USA!! However, to reach that goal will take us quite some time! We started as of December 21st 2008, to set aside a monthly amount from my paycheck the equivalent of $546.44 for our “Truck fund” in order to buy our own rig in the USA whenever we are able to return there. It will take us quite a while to accrue sufficient funds for a used tractor/trailer rig (with a sleeper) so that we can fulfill our dream. This is a time when we frequently need to remind ourselves of our two favorite sayings, particularly since we are not getting any younger! Daily, Joel searches trucker websites in search of a trucking company and a rig…always reminding God of our hopes and dreams… At our current rate, it will take us a minimum of 3 years to save up enough funds for our dream rig. We just wanted to share with you our awesome journey as it has unfolded over the past 8 years… Regards, Barb & Joel Sosmena Banghel4653@yahoo.com Jo587337@yahoo.com |

| Comments: | TruckersSpace is a place for truck drivers to meet other drivers, share photos and video, tell others about themselves and what they do. Get informed of new things going on in our industry. Share stories with others of good and bad things that you have been through. I look forward to meeting everyone and seeing if I can help make a difference.
It is your space. Our goal is to provide you with a place to network with people who share your interests and understand you and the tough job you have. Our lives on the road are often criticized and rarely respected. It is a life not many can relate to. Here is a place to change all that. Not only will we be able to hang out amongst ourselves, but hopefully, we will be able to educate the public about who the "truck driver" really is and the importance of our work in their daily lives. I miss cooking for more than one, i miss his dirty clothes in the bathroom, his shoes, in the floor and duffle bags full of dirty clothes, i miss my best friend, holding my hand and saying if you want it get it. | Comments: | My husband has been otr for 11 years now and it was his dream. Last month we were just talking of becoming owner/operator, then found out that I am pregnant with twins. Now we already have 6 girls, but new ones are always nice, but since we found out about the pregnancy I have been real depressed wanting him to come off the road, cause I am scared to be alone for the preg. and scared of something happening to him. He would come home and work locally if I asked, but I can't I love him too much and he is living his dream, it will be even better in a couple weeks when he ownes his own truck. Your notes really helped, thank you. |

A Trucker's Wife Lonely, worried and depressed, how did I ever get into this mess? Angry, tired, and mad at life, how did I become a trucker's wife? Patience, tolerance and forgiveness, are the things I am learning I must confess. Hours, miles and days apart but my love for you grows deep in my heart. Loving, pride and being true these are the things that I give to you. Hugs, kisses and a soft touch, when you are home mean so much. Family, friends and a wife by your side, we'll always be there to help and to guide. Good-byes, forewells, are the story of our life, how did I become a trucker's wife. By Patricia Humble |

| Comments: | I have been a truckers wife for 4 yrs, and most of the time I love it. Nights like this its nice to know there are other women out there in the same boat.
Our daughter just graduated from high school a couple of weeks ago and is engaged to a great guy but they both work nights and our son goes to his moms for the summer. So I spend alot of time alone. My husband calls every chance he gets and I really look forward to hearing his voice. With the weather a ever changing thing I worry alot. But ladies for us when he is home its like a honeymoon all over again. The day time is for family but the nights are all ours. I count down the days till he comes home and do something speacial just for him/us. Truckers wives are a special breed and some other people think we are crazy, I just tell them we are and but we love our man no matter what. |

I sat here and read alot of the comments from the Yl's,XYL's and OW's and it sure brought back alot of memories. I drove for five years and then was married to a trucker for 9 yrs. and have to say overall they were the best years! I lost my trucker in July of 2003. It was unexpected and a heck of a shock, I'm sure some of you new him, he went by "The Freightliner Kid" drove all his life. Anyway just wanted to respond to some of the wives that are lonely and missing their man. Be good to him, try to be understanding and listen to ALL his stories (if u don't ride with him) because they mean alot to him and some of them are real funny-some sad, but all worth hearing! It's just me now and thank god for grandkids or I'd be in the nuthouse! Anyway, what I'm trying to say is THANK GOD for each and every one of them! Yall be careful and Watch the other fella out on that old road! Ladies yall would be well put to remember they get lonely too so love them every chance you get. |

I've been married to an otr driver for 21 years now. It has not been easy. I drove myself that is how I met my husband. No matter how I justify it, his being gone from all the black and white and grey of our lives has took its toll. Don't get me wrong, I love him, but being absent puts its own challenges on a marriage. It is nice to know there are others like me looking for a common thread and a understanding key pad. |

| Comments: | My husband has been driving truck for 10 years. He had been ORT for 8 years or so. Then was blesssed to get a local run. But good things don't always last, 3 weeks ago he had to go back OTR. This has been a HUGE ajustment for him. I guess it nice to know there is a way to talk to other wives that live this life. Thanks Dru |
