| Comments: | Hello to those people who are interested in Dutch shepherd dogs, my wife and I have two roughhaired Dutch shepherds and we can tell you that they are a very special breed. These dogs are very reliable, intelligent and happy to learn and practice, they just like to work and get rewarded after work. The first three or four years they like to go there own way and you have to be very concisted but it is great fun looking at there behaviour while they grow up. However, these are no dogs for unexperienced people because they would not know what to do during this period of there live. And when they become about seven years of age it starts all over again, they just seem to have forgotten everything they once learned but if you have this knowledge it is so much fun to observe there behvviour. These dogs are absolutely unique and we could not live with out them. |

I consider this breed to be the best of the best as far as breeds go, and I hope that, for the most part, they do not achieve the same kennel recognition that has brought ruin to many other breeds. I am researching the Dutch history and lineages to obtain a pup worthy of 'Schutzhund' and Search and Rescue training, and I've found that the perfect median between German Shepherds Dog and Belgian Malinois is this breed. | Comments: | Thank you for such a wonderful insight about the Dutch shepherd breed.. I have been looking around finding some information about this wonderful breed. I used to have one a rescued dutchies but unfortunately we don't have a good line of dutchies here (I am from the Philippines). Most of them have temperamental problems. I hope I can learn more about this breed. |
