I am an Alaskan student and have been researching this controversy for a paper I'm doing. I have a few questions. Firstly, what are your specific points for opposition? Is there any good to be gained from globalization? My standpoint on the subject, just based on the state of the world at this point in time and on the research I have done, is that though unity throughout the world is a nice ideal, the multitude of cultures, languages and viewpoints make it unrealistic. An even stronger reason for it not being able to work, is the fact that the world has never been able to find peace. It's a goal, but it has never been reached. How are we to unite the world when we are still fighting one another? |

about police? Police was great. And government? What`s wrong with government? I don`t care about your visit in CR, the riots were provoked from a very big part by foreigners, so it would be better, if you won`t go to visit CR. 2] Why are you talking about israeli problems? Israelis and Palestinians (if it`s possible to call them this way) have problems for (at least) 50 years from another reasons (territory, national identity; look, it`s trange, tha Arabs live in Israel as reular citizens with civic rights. If they`re doing riots in the streets, you have to stop them. You don`t find it normal? I do.) 3] Be sick of "solely ´emotional-driven´ infighting or speech". I don`t care, because I`m not using any "solely ´emotional-driven´ infighting or speech". I think, that INPEG can organize the organization better and better, but it doesn`t mean, that I will be nice now. If they will prove, that they`re able to organize something avoiding vilence, I will pay respect to them. I know, it`s difficult, but it`s not my business. |

your logic to "stop the INPEG", am I right to say, don't go Cz to visit, work, etc... And publicise what Cze police did to all media around the world. | Comments: | I think INPEG as organiser of Prague demonstrations
abslolutely failed. The result of what happened last Tuesday is defacing of everything INPEG represents. Now when anybody talks in Czechia about dangers of globalisaton, then he is automatically considered to be neo- communist and almost terrosist. Also red flags with hammer, reaping-hook, Che Guevarra and so on could not provoke much sympathy among the Czech with their experiences. |

| Comments: | The basic difference between Seattle/Washington and Prag
was following: the protests in the US was have been carried out mostly by young american yuppies while in Prag by leftist chaots. Also there were trade unions, religious communities, farmers and ecologists in the US and almost no marxist shit. Here in Prag we've seen (I mean the S26- demos) almost wellfare-trotzkists and not a working class/intelligentsia. All this left shit is trying now (again!) to monopolize a new social movement against unfair plutocratical globalization, repeating old marcurian tales a-la hippie'68. At the same time even their gurus from the New Left Review are speaking about a collaps of the leftist ideology. I suppose the real and correct antiglobalists are people from Jubilee-2000, for instance, not the reds (we've ssen already a red-paradise). |

| Comments: | To Nick :Prague demos weren´t just a sadly wasted
opportunity - they were, at least as far as the czech population is concerned, utterly counterproductive. Many czechs who had sympathized with the IPEG cause before the tuesday demo turned away. The police, before the demos considered halfwits and disliked by many czechs became national heroes overnight. Czech xenophobia(the violent thugs came from abroad) is on the rise, etc. etc. In my opinion, Viktor and Alice must take a part of the blame. There were plenty of signs before the demos that there would be violence at the demos, yet they had been neglected. Liaisons with groups suspected of violence in the past should have been avoided. If nothing else, Viktor and Alice have been incredibly naive. And their appearance on the czech media after the infamous tuesday demo was embarrasing - when pressed, they resorted to same evasions just like our "dear" politicians do.They should have known, that we, the czechs, with our proud tradition of our "velvet revolution" are oversensitive (scared stiff is probably a better expression) of ideologically tinted violence and vill overreact if there is any, however slight. They should have heard the warning bell when the news reached Prague that some italian demonstrators at the railroad border crossing with Austria placed ties on railroad tracks (a tie on a track can derail a train if the train driver does not spot in in time) and realized that people who do not hesitate to jeopardize the safety of railroad passengers are bad guys. They should have heard the warning bell when a group of anarchists last weekend kicked the h..l out of a bunch of skinheads at the main railroad station in Prague. Not that I feel sorry for the skins, in a way one might feel good that these apostles of racism and violence "tasted some of their own medicine", but I do not approve of violence even in this case, and INPEG people should have realized that there were people in Prague who are prepared to let their fists rather than their mouths to argue a case and take necessary precautions. I do not agree with many of INPEG´s objectives, but having lived in a country that has suffered many years of hard dictatorship (first the nazis and then almost immeadiately afterwards the commies) I am a staunch supporter of the freedom of expression even if it is for ideas I do not support myself. After reading your discussion piece here I must say that I find your ideas about preventing violence at demonstrations very interesting, something that could work in the future, maybe with some modifications or improvements here and there. Something that future demonstration organizers should really think about. |

| Comments: | All my sympathy to Viktor Piorecky and Alice Dvorska and
others from INPEG. They have to face abuse and threats they don’t deserve. The outrageous presentation of the demos by the Czech media was an example of brainwashing at its best. Eleven years have passed since the fall of Communism, but the Czech "journalists" obviously remember the craft of propaganda very well. That said, I think serious mistakes were made. The violence was real, even if it was blown out of all proportion by the media. Yes, only a small minority hurled stones and Molotov cocktails – some of them probably police agent-provocateurs. But the result is still a failure. If this failure is to lead to some good, we need to take lessons from it. The major strategic mistake was to decide to "blockade the meeting". The meeting was effectively blockaded already – by the police. In Seattle or Washington the demonstrators were stopping the delegates from going into the meeting, and the police had to try to disperse them. In Prague the situation was the opposite. The Centre was surrounded by the police, and the protestors were trying to break through. That is a recipe for confrontation, in which protestors become attackers, while the police appears to act purely defensively (even though that was not completely true, of course). In other words, the original plan was going to make protestors look aggressive, however peacefully they would try to break through. The media were heavily biased and would jump at any opportunity to portray the protests as violent. So it was vital that the demos remain as peaceful as possible. This meant trying to persuade everyone of the need for non-violence. It also called for a strategy of dealing with those who refused. Of course, this is easy to say. But there are things that could have been done. Only the organisers should have been allowed at the front of the march. Members of INPEG should have been clearly marked – just like the demonstration stewards are in the West. Also, it might have been an idea to give out armbands to those committed to non-violence – white, or yellow, or whatever. That way it would have been harder to portray all the protestors as violent thugs, which is what happened. It also might have made sense to organise a "peace police", or active non-violence, to try to physically stop those who were too aggressive. Of course, this would have meant scuffles within the demo itself. But would that be worse than what actually happened? It is easy to be wise after the event. Again, I feel sorry for INPEG members, and I do not want to add to their problems. But I think we must learn from what happened, so that next time things are different. The Prague demos were, sadly, a wasted opportunity. The violence obscured the message of the protest – the horrible nature of IMF/WB, the killing machine of their programmes, the need to resist. That is a shame. Let’s do better next time. |

| Comments: | Critical thinking
has been given to some from nature, the rest of us has to learn it. The discussion shows, that we, Czech citizens, started to think critically. This is why we are enemies and had to be eliminated from discussion. Nothing new – we remember that everybody with critical thinking was at least a “class enemy” and had to be eradicated. Also his family – children, parents, brothers and sisters were prosecuted. Not because of throwing stones on policemen, not because of damaging that time centers of influence and power. Just because of critical thinking - the most powerful weapon against ignorance. Thanks to globalization only this server can eradicate discussion but there are many more giving the opportunity of a free speech to those who do not want to be silent. |

Alespoň část pravdy brzy vyjde najevo a pak ať Bůh chrání všechny ty piorecké, dvorské a ostatní. Jestliže snad ještě někdo věří v jejich dobré úmysly, pak o svou víru brzy přijde. Proč? Na to dává odpověď kritické myšlení. |

incite dissension among us? We can work together despite the differences we may have over tactics. My personal two cents: the system won't surrender its power without a fight. We have to be ready to defend ourselves... and that is what a lot of the violence in Prague looked like to me: self-defence. Or at the very least it's a reaction to the violence of the system: poverty, starvation, exploitation. These are also violence we have a right to defend ourselves from. |

with the most of chechs an anarchistical crashdown of streets and business has nothing to do with a struggle for our common better future. Just think about: all the demolished businesses are for sure insuranced. That means they'll have they money back (perhaps even more as a real lost was). And where from this money are coming? From banks, exploting people. So, at last, anarchy and banks are in the same line. The anarchists are just sick of violence and hidden ruling-complexes. Look at theirs leaders: almost all of them are schizophrenics suffering from several manias and looking for satellites. They impose at other people (mostly young idiots from bad families and unemployees) their queer ideas of "fighting system", being at the same time just hidden collaborants with the last one. |

| Comments: | I think the (well documented) problem with large groups of
people is their singular inability to think things through rationally, no matter how intelligent large numbers of their constituent elements may be. I have many many problems with the current state of affairs, particularly those relating to the behaviour of Western society to the worlds poor. However, if presented with state socialism as the only possible alternative i'd choose capitalism without a second thought, I can only presume the people who advocate it now are either hopelessly caught up in ideology or have more sinister motives. It always has and always will be true that peoples morals mould the system rather than vice versa. The almost universal misconception seems to be that capitalism refers to one set of rules, none of which can be altered by popular consent, and so the only way to improve things is to get rid of it entirely. This is clearly false and if as much energy were spent examining ways to improve things by adaption rather than violent overhaul the powers that be might be forced to stop presenting dissidents as mindless hippies. Same goes for globalisation and global free trade. Neither are necessarily bad for the worlds poor. Global economic integration would be great if it meant universal tax/benefit and environmental legislation, a devoloution of power away from the west etc. but thats not what the IMF/WTO really want. The fact that they can present anyone who opposes their methods of globalisation as anti- globalisation supports their cause rather than yours. Global free trade might be a benefit to the poor, but the reality is that the WTO only want to push for third world countries to lower trade barriers. I've heard no mention of a lowering of the huge tariffs on food imports which wreck the competitive advantage of the third world agricultural sector or the quotas which dictate the number of cars importable from south korea. Similarly, allowing companies to trade in third world countries would be beneficial to all if they were obliged to observe the employment laws of their country of origin rather than the country they set up in. These kind of changes would really benefit the world economy, but the only way they can happen is if enough people want them to and realise they can make a difference. All I see at the moment is a combination of naive kids and mischeivous trouble makers who are eating away at the sympathy for their gripes by offering solutions which might well prove to be worse. |

don't agree with the violence showed in Praga, but it seems that now a lot of people know about it. Thanks to the violents? This is a terrible world, and if you don't react with all your means at hand (stones, for instance), some people (IMF, WCO, etc) won't take you seriously... England had to be bombed by the jews in Palestine, and by the IRA in Ulster to react and make something. I wonder if they (the IMF) would have ever considered the existence of the poor in case the protest would have been less radical. I still want to believe that they would... |

| Comments: | In replay to supporters of the IMF and the World Bank: Joe
has mentioned that the job of the World Bank is to help the impoverished nations that it has been established to enhance the economy of the developing countries by means of lending huge sums of money to their governments. However, this support results in the developing countries becoming financial and moreover political dependencies of the developed world. You see, the developing countries face lack of industries, technology knowledge, technical equipment; in other words, inability to exploit their resources to the advantage of their people. Industries and other high-technology companies with global interests take advantage of this weakness. They invest large sums of money through the world bank in these countries devastated economies. Without any worrying national competitors they monopolize the exploitation of the national resources. So, they steal the wealth of people in the name of free trade. Moreover, this lack of national competitors drives them to actions that abolish human rights and destroy the environment. With large commissions to the governments they exploit the natural resources paying no attention to the regulations that protect the environment. If there are some dissidents or groups that stand problem in their way they don’t hesitate to get rid of them. Furthermore, the economy of the developing countries is based mainly on agriculture. The majority of people that live in the third world are occupied with agriculture and earn their living by selling their fruits and vegetables in the national trades. The products that are imported have much lower price and take much longer time to spoil. Therefore, they deluge the national trades and push aside the others. This results in the financial devastation of the populous peasants and in destitution of the vast majority of the population. Now as far as the IMF is concerned, it’s main role is the insurance of the reimbursement of the debts that the undeveloped or developing countries owe to their “benefactors”. In order to accomplish this the IMF has taken over the control of state economy. They have imposed measures of great frugality to the citizens of the undeveloped world. There are cuts in education(many countries demand fees for going to “public” school), in provision, care. Imagine how many people live in destitution or even die of starvation. It’s cruel and the same time ironic to support that the IMF and the World Bank follow their way to create a better world. Their only policy is to save the money of the privileged minority. It’s sheer hypocrisy even believing that capitalism aims at the disappearance of discrimination in the relations between human beings. Capitalism is based on discrimination. It’s main aim is to ensure the reigning of the privileged minority over the much poorer majority. I can justify the favorable attitudes of some Chechs fellows towards capitalism. You see, your republic has had a life of 11 years. You haven’t seen a lot of changes in this period. Now, you must be passing the stage of a sufficient welfare state. Here in Greece we passed this stage from 1981-1985. Later you will face the vast privatization and many dismissals in an effort to let the national trade free to the global one. Then you will remember me my friends. Furthermore, I would like to make a comment on the mass movement of Prague. You fellows only refer to velvet “revolution” but you avoid referring to “Spring of Prague”. That was a real revolution of active citizens who fought for freedom and socialism against state capitalism and party dictatorship. I will never forget the workers that were killed by the secret police in the demonstrations the photograph of a young person who faces the tank and calls the red soldiers to stop evading his country. Will you? If someone asked me to denominate anarchist a european nation, I would choose Chechs without second thought. May that atavistic call reign in your hearts and souls. In the next battle capitalism shall face us united!! |

Maybe for 15 years now (rememeber the times of Mikrobaze?). I can understand that you choose a different way of life. After all, it was your choice. But, please be so kind and do not try to convince me (or other peoples) that your way of life is the only right one and do not try to convice the rest of world that the peoples in Czech republic are slaves. In past years, I visited a lot of countries in Africa, Asia and South America. I even was in Cuba last year. So I think that I can compare a bit. Currently, we are living in one of the most democratic (read free) countries in the world and peoples in our country are no slaves. I choosed a different way of life and now, I am a rich capitalistic pig :-) Now, I am free, I have a plenty of time to travel, to study etc. etc. Yes, we can start a philosophical discussion if your way of life is better than mine. But I am sure that are intelligent enough that you must see that those peoples, which started the war in the streets of Prague, are only criminals which should be in jail. | Comments: | I differ in understanging the dialectic which has affected
the Czech people. They were, after all, only recently brought under the capitalist system. Further, I question ability of the the individual at elzet@bajt.cz to represent the character of the Czechoslovakian people as he does. I think that the point that has to be understood is that people everywhere are concerned about our system of capitalism and what it means to the prospects of our species upon this planet. Wall Street's concern is with the imperative dynamic of an economic system which is really beyond anyone's control. It is only the opening of the vast natural resource wealth of the former Soviet Union which has allowed for the current unprecedented upswing in the U.S. economy. The current system of capitalist economic management knows only a gas pedal and has only the most rudimentary system of brakes. We must look to a satisfactory transition to an alternative satisfactory to all. I am most concerned with the extinguishment of a sophisticated of economic development in Yugoslavia by the Beast. I just read that elderly women are being seen begging in Moscow. |

do not have your ideas and thoughts in their minds. Most of them dream about quiet life, no matter what is going around. They are no big exemption. You can meet such people everywhere. I understand anarchists open door for other nonviolent groups for their interaction with world bosses. It is really neccessary not to lose democracy under pressure of capitalistic beast. The beast understands power only. The Czechs do not feel their slavery. They think they are absolutely free. It is funny paradox. But can you convince slavers about their slavery if they are convinced they are absolutely free? They do not practice Zen:)) Try to understand them before you shout on them. They will defend their slavery till they die. They can not imagine any other way of life than this one which they go through now. They want to have things and money. But they do not understand they are going to be more and more poor not only materially - they also have sold their souls to the beast. That is why people here do not like you. Waking up will last many years and will be slow. Take it just as it is. |

| Comments: | Seriously, where can I get some information about the
alleged injustices of the World Bank? I'd really like to see some facts... because right now to me the protest seems meaningless. Has any protester even opened an economics textbook? It is one of the most basic concepts in economics - comparitive advantage - that justifies globalization. Globalization can only help the people of the third world, as long as human rights are not violated. Or have any of you read through some of the World Bank's numerous publications? The job of the World Bank is to help these impoverished nations... and they work hard and keep statistics that these nations could never afford to do themselves. Both you and the World Bank want the same thing - except that you expect it to come about through generousity, and the World Bank expects it to come about through capitalism. I wonder which is the more likely avenue. Believe me, the delegates that you attack for flying first class on a plane could make a lot more money in the private sector. The World Bank was established to be big enough and daring enough to make loans to countries that conventional banks would refuse, not to be super- profitable. So it seems to me that you've got the wrong enemy, or I'm missing something. So post some links, or the names of some books that detail, without exaggeration, exactly what the IMF and World Bank have done wrong. |

| Comments: | I'd like to quote a story that comes to mind when I look at
what is going on in Prague these days. The whole thing reminds me a passage from the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test (Tom Wolfe) where Ken Kesey is invited to be a speaker at a rally against the Vietnam war in 1965. Allow me to paraphrase: Kesey shows up with his posse, the Merry Pranksters - outfitted in full psychedelic military get up - insane day-glo uniforms, painted wooden guns, turrets hammered into their bus - and takes the stage, second to last, the time when the organizers really need to get the crowd riled up for the march. The Pranksters are scurrying around behind him goofing around with their electric guitars and posing for battle. Kesey starts in a low conversational drawl, "You know, you're not going to stop this war with this rally, by marching . . . That's what they do . . . They hold rallies and they march . . . They've been having wars for ten thousand years and your not going to stop it this way . . . Ten thousand years, and this is the game they play to do it . . holding rallies and having marches . . . and that's the game you're laying . . . their game." And then he pulls out a harmonica and starts blowing, "Home . . . home on the range . . . " People are looking around - did they hear that right? The Pranksters chime in with some looney riffs. And Kesey comes back, "I was just looking at the speaker who was up here before me . . . and I couldn't hear what he was saying . . . but I could hear the sound of it . . . and I could hear your sound coming back at him . . . and I could see the gestures and I could see his jaw sticking out like this silhouetted against the sky . . . and you know who I saw . . . and who I heard . . Mussolini . . . I saw and I heard Mussolini here just a few minutes ago . . Yep . . You're playing their game. We;ve heard all this and seen all this before, but we keep on doing it . . . I went to see the Beatles last month and I heard 20,000 girls screaming together at the Beatles . . . and I could hear what they were screaming, either . . . But you don't have to . . . their screaming Me! Me! Me! Me! . . . I'm Me! . . . That's the cry of the ego, and that's the cry of this rally . . . Me! Me! Me! Me! . . . And that's why wars get fought . . . ego . . . Because enough people want to scream Pay attention to Me . . . Yep, you're playing their game . . ." Harmonica break, fermenting guitar chaos, organizers boiling on the sidelines. "Who the hell invited this bastard?" Suddenly the honking stops. "There's only one thing to do . . . there's only one thing's gonna do any good at all . . . And that's everybody just look at it, look at the war, and turn your backs and say . . . Fuck it . . . [harmonica break] . . . just look at it and turn away and say . . . Fuck it . . . Fuck it . . . friends." |

| Comments: | Nord,
Your defense of the INPEG lady is noble. I did not see the interview and so can't say too much, but just saying that the violent groups were not part of her group does not sound like taking responibility - that sounds like good old fashioned "passing the buck." "Wasn't me, Mom. I tried to tell them to stop. We just wanted to play with the dog..." If debt relief is INPEGs thing - I'm all for it, though I don't think that demonstrations are the way to get stuff done in that world. In any case you have to get a new catch phrase because "economic globalization", has been going on since Marco Polo and it is messed up but you are not going to stop it and the World Bank and IMF really have very little to do with it. |

| Comments: | How dare you humiliate another person? The spokesperson
for “INPEG” had the courage to go on an interview to say that those violent demonstrators did not belong with her group and that they did everything they could to prevent violence. You guys know that their group is not a government, doesn’t have any police, and has no ministry, has no funds. Let’s be fair: which one of your statesmen has as much courage to admit their mistakes, indulgences and weaknesses: common characteristics of politicians. Have they given the nation a considerate response on the billions given away from nation’s funds to dubious clients of IPB and Komercni bnaks? You talk about damages? Add up the numbers see if the total is anywhere near 50 bil. loss of Komercni bank, which of course will be covered from YOUR MONEY. If you feel your statesmen are that honest then you may condemn that honorable woman who tolerated the ridiculous manner of commercial and unprofessional journalism and yet proved that she was not afraid of RSPONSIBILITY. I don not approve of the violence. Neither does she. Don’t forget that it is easy to condemn the small guys but do you dare to go out, face the BIG GUYS, peacefully protest and tell them your country, your world and your values are not FOR SALE? Let’s be honest: in the “Velvet Revolution” you were challenging the “dead bear”! These are “alive jackals”. No “velvet” here pal, these are strong teeth and claws. Don’t you see it? If not, then you can live a happy life no matter communism or whatever. Those guys call our world a “global village” and have come to Prague to solve its problems. How dare they say that? They are a group of people who think this world is too small and that they can run it just like a village as they want. I am sure it feels right when they fly first class, stay a day in London, another in Hamburg, another in Bangkok, pursue their dubious businesses, buy a taste of female gender everywhere and think the world is easily reachable: it is so small just like a village! Yep, it feels right. While a great number of people who live in poverty on less than a dollar a day can hardly afford to travel beyond their miserable villages & towns. You bet they don’t feel the world is like a “village”. Those people surviving in the middle of bloody wars are more likely to think this world as a cruel rotten BIG HOLE with no way out. That much for our “global village”! Their “Wrong Attitude” would make it impossible for them to solve the problems of this world, even if they wanted to. I apologize to the spokeswoman of “INPEG” on behalf of those who misinterpret her courage and hour. I also congratulate her on her great character and mind. |

| Comments: | My last word: I can understand you want to protest against
organizations you find destructive for the world. But I don't understand the violent way of protest. We showed to all the world 11 years ago it is possible to make changes in the peaceful way. It is the reason we don't understand yesterday. Your protest incensed all people in Czech against your (maybe good) ideas. Don't believe we changed in that 11 years. Peaceful protest could be supported by our people. |

| Comments: | But you forget one thing my friend, Turkey is a barbaric
country. Can you imagine a peaceful overthrow of a government in Turkey as it has happened here almost 11 years ago? I don't think so. Let's face it you people are more prone to take violent action. You resort to argument by force rather than by reason. To me a people who prefer to deal with each other by force as opposed to reason are barbaric. |

| Comments: | I am from Turkey. I see that the police fights and arrests
hunderds of students and workers at every protest. Violence is sometimes necassary and sometimes not. Self defense is always acceptable. If you organize a protest like this and fight against great powers otherwise is impossible. There is nothing to surprise. Mirak, world is a violent place. If you want peace go to heaven. Maybe there was some. They are using violence againts us. Every day and every hour. At home at work at streets. If you watching tv you will see violence. If you read comic books you will see violence. If you surf at internet... Your children can’t escape from this. Your peace = surrender |

| Comments: | Fuck you very much! Exactly what I told you earlier has
happened: The only impression that is left of your demonstrations is that you are bunch of violent motherfuckers. You won't be able to change that anymore. It is not important, how many of you are peaceful, important is what is left over: Destroyed shops, destroyed cars, grafittis all over the town, a lot of injured police men, injured journalist, injured sanitarys, injured demonstrants, garbage all over the town, etc. etc. That's it for you, idiots. Go home to wherever you came from and leave us alone. There is no sympathy to expect from anybody, except of your sick friends and supporters. And - you are a minority. You are not welcome - not here and not in any other city. Go to some desert, all of you, and build yourself a nice anarchistic commune where you can smash your own heads and discuss about your great ideas. That will do much better for the world. Just don't forget to have internet access there, so that 'Iamahumanchinesebeing' can send his links to forums... |

| Comments: | To all the Czech people that writes here against INPEG and
antiglobalization people: don´t repeat again and again that communism was terrible in your contry and Eastern europe...ALL OF US KNOW THIS and understand your suffering under blood dictatorship. I write you from Barcelona (Catalonia - Spain) and we suffered an extreme right wing dictatorship of 40 years as yourselves a communist one. All dictatorships are terrible for people, and people who wants another world has NEVER to repeat certain mistakes doing even worst than the system they try to change. As an anarchist, I have ever rejected soviet communism as nonsense solution. The coordination of very different groups, descentralized and autonomous, against corporations globalization (because money is the only IMF and WB make global) is intending to avoid negative and undesirable experiences as soviet communism. I was happy when I saw your velvet revolution in 1989. But when I hear that some of you only talk against the violenece of some foolish young people in the movement (we here saw, even through manipulated mass media, some people with violent attitude besides many peaceful demonstarations)and don´t even consider the unfair and non-sustainable destructive capitalist policies around thw world, you make me think that the egotistic and indidualistic attitudes ('it is not my problem, 'the world is like this and ever will be', 'nothing can be done' , 'be quiet and at home, don't disturb our peaceful life in Prague', 'be happy witht your misery salary and with your temporary job', 'the third world countries deserve their fate'...) have slowly penetrated into the Czech soceity during these 10 years; I hped sincerely that your suffering from a dictatorship during 40 years would make you more sensible to unfairness and explotation. |

than this target was reached. But if you think that your protest was peacufull, that I don't want to see how your VIOLENT protest looks like. If you want to do such bullshits go home and destroy your own cities. I believe that if you try such protests for example in Germany that the police destroy the protest with more power than the Czech police did. It was the only fault of the police action. The should use more power to cancel your demonstartion and hold peace in the city. Hi, Richard |

| Comments: | It appears that INPEG and the many of the rest of the
demonstrators have one idea in mind-- VIOLENCE. I suggest you change your name to VINPEG. Violent Initiative Against Economic Globalization. It was interesting to watch your spokeswoman on Televize Prima tonight when confronted with the question why the 6000 demonstrators including INPEG couldn't demonstrate peacefully like the more than hundreds of thousands of protestors took to the streets of Prague in 1989. Nobody threw cobblestones during the Velvet Revolution despite serious provocation by the police. She had no answer except that it was a different situation. It certainly was! Today the violence was entirely provoked by the protestors! There was never any intention that the demonstration was going to be peaceful. |

media. The demonstration split into three; my part (pink) had a totally non-violent action, a sitting blockade of the big entrace to the IMFmeting centre. There was dancing, singing and calm demonstrations. What is wrong with the IMF? It is a totally undemocratic organisation (one dollar=one vote, no matter what number of population a country might have) which is exploiting the third world by forcing the third world countries to apply to a neo-liberalistic politics, opening up the borders for transnational companies etc... I really hope people in the world understand that WE ARE FIGHTING FOR A BETTER WORLD ORDER! Cheers, Annika |
