I also want to say that all of Jackson's cheer squads did a great job this season. Everyone I talked to at nationals mentioned how great our entire cheer program was this year and all of our girls should be proud of the job they did this season. I know our program will be even better next year. Finally, I want to thank everyone who helped my team out this year, coaches and parents. I just wanted to bring attention to all parents of Jackson Pop Warner/High School Football/Cheerleading children. On 9/21 Liberty HS Freshman Football Team vs. Lakewood - we Won. There was an incident following our win, when I went home we realized my car has been the victim of apparent hatred towards Jackson Football. The hood of my car had the words "Jackson You Suck" and most obvious was the Football Magnets from Pop Warner, Liberty Lions and Jackson Jaguars which were crossed out with the words "f.... You" Its a shame that you cant display pride for your town without the worries that someone feels the need to be destructive and display hatred towards our teams. I just want to make everyone aware that when you enter other towns for our games maybe we need to be aware of the feelings towards Jackson. I contacted the school and the response I received was kids will be kids. Evidently security on the grounds wasnt enough to ensure that my car and/or anyone else would be safe. Just a heads up, be aware! |

Our boys played their hearts out till the end and never gave up...and our coaches never gave up on them. This was a new year for a new bunch of boys to get together, yes some of us have played together in the past, but some of us have never met before. There is a lot of talent here and with the drive that our sons have, I belive that next year we can get it together and pull off a winning season. Thank you Coach Migs and Coach Shu and Coach Dion who came and coached our sons every practice and every game without a child of your own on the team. That is true dedication. And a special CONGRATULATIONS to my midget girls for being fourth in the nation. I am so proud of you and you should all be proud of yourselves. You did exactly what I asked you to do at nationals, you left it all on the mat. You looked AMAZING.
You midget girls have a lot of talent, every single one of you. I know the most of the team is moving on to high school next year so I just want to say that whether it is good old Jackson Memorial or the new Jackson Liberty, both school will have amazing cheeleading squads. To anyone who is not moving on to high school next year (or to any of you who want to skip high school cheer one more year and come back to PW, you are all more than welcome) I hope you will return to pop warner next year and we can use this season as a learning experience. We have so much talent in Jackson Pop Warner that next season can be another golden one for all of our teams, especially the Midgets. thats right, we were. Even though we took 4th, we all know that we should have taken first! Oh well, we had a lot of fights this seson but we pulled together. We worked hard and we gave everything we had on the mat at nationals. i guess the judges just didnt see how TALENTED WE ARE and that we should have been the 2005 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! Hey- but 4th place is still GREAT. Thats 4th in the whole entire NATION. 4th out of 16 teams! At least we placed and we made it to Disney. Alot of teams wanted to make it to florida that didnt. Well this season was awesome and i love you all. We had so many great times(lets just forget the bad ones). =] Oh and dont forget, we might not have won Nationals but we are still.. It was a very hard season but you all pulled through and won Jackson its first ever Midget Cheer regional championship and you are the first Jackson Midget Cheer team to ever make it to nationals. Congratulations girls!!! You looked great at the pep rally last week and I know you will hit the competition floor on Friday and blow everyone away again.
I also want to say how happy I am that our team was selected to demonstrate our mastery of ground up stunts on the new National Pop Warner stunt safety video. It is really an honor to be one of the few teams selected for the video and although we will not be able to have our whole team on the video, you should all be proud. We would not have been selected if all of our stunt groups did not look amazing at regionals. Congratualations on making the video girls and truly putting Jackson cheerleading on the map. I next want to congratulate all of the squads that performed today at regionals. Everyone of our teams did and excellent job. The competition was very tough today and you should all be proud of your performances. It was truly a pleasure to watch all of our teams this season. Coach, not only do I want to congratulate you and your team on a fine season but I personally would like to thank you and your coaches for being "role models" on and off the field. In a sport where egos can easily take over, you kept yourself and your team level headed, strong and humble. None of us want to admit it but when we put ourselves out there as coaches we also put ourselves in a position to help mold the personalities of these young men and women. You must teach them football (properly), give them confidence to compete but keep their feet on the ground at the same time. At times you can be hard on the player but when the parents truly know how you care for their child, a bond of trust forms and only then can you all become a team. You and your coaches have successfully done that this year and for that I applaud you. Stay the course and keep doing what you're doing. To all of the coaches in Jackson (both cheer and football), thank you for your time and efforts. If you coach with your heart, check your ego at the door, and have some fun you'll be a success no matter what records show. |
