| Comments: | My ancestor is Austin Alfred Perkins, b. May 5, 1836 in Groton, New London, CT; he died in the Battle of Antietam during the Civil War, September 17, 1862. I know his father was Robert Perkins Jr. (b. abt 1796 in Groton, New London, CT); son of Robert Perkins Sr. (b. abt 1775); son of Rufus Perkins (b. Sep 28, 1743); son of John L. Perkins (b. 31 Aug 1713); son of John Perkins (b. 21 Sep 1687 in Ipswich, MA); son of John Perkins who was married to Judith, who arrived in Boston in 1631 on the ship "Lyon".
For years I was unable to find Austin's family line until recently with a long lost cousin's help (Howard Rose, descended from Austin's brother Nathan William Perkins) and your site. Your site is truly a blessing. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of the wonderful research you have done and most of all for sharing it with the world. Great job! (I am descended from Austin's only child, a son, George Alfred Perkins; father of Alla Lynne Perkins Allyn; mother of Cynthia Morse Allyn Wilhelm Clapp; mother of Susanne Wilhelm Nelson Bradley; mother of Laurie Lynne Nelson Alexander Capener; etc.) |

| Comments: | Hello
Your website is great! I am a descendant of John Perkins who arrived with his wife (Judith Gater) and family on the "Lyon". The begiining of the Perkins line for me is with Mary, their daughter. Can you tell me what church John and Judith and family attended in Boston? I noticed that John Perkins was baptized in the Agnlican Parish at Hillmorton. When they came to Massachusetts were they Anglicans or were they Puritans? Also, where does the Perkins Restaurant come into all of this? My husband, Jim and I, like those before us, emmigrated to a new country and have lived our married life in Canada! All the best. A distant cousin, Ruth Buenting Kelowna, BC |

| Comments: | I, too, am a descendant of the Perkins family. My line comes through Richard Perkins, a son of William Perkins and Joanna Reede/Reade. Some generations later a Perkins daughter married a Clarkson (my maiden name). Nicholas Perkins (1745 - 1800) came to Virginia in 1641 where he was granted land for transporting four persons to this country. My Clarkson ancestor also came from England but there is simply not enough information to trace that family, although it is believed that his people possibly came from Yorkshire. In any event, I have been gathering as much information as I can on the Perkins line and am thrilled to have found so much. |

Mary Perkins was my fourth great grandmother, and the daughter of Benjamin, son of Jacob, son of Isaac Perkins and so on. Mary Perkins married Abraham Van Sciver, Sr. and my mother's maiden name is Van Sciver. There are many Perkins that inter-married with various members of the large clan of Van Scivers in Burlington County, NJ. Thank heavens my mother married my father, whose family came from Hungary,or I would really be inbred. I am a retired history teacher and have spent five years compiling a geneaolgy on my father's parent's family. My father published the book on the Van Sciver Geneaology. He researched some of the females that married into the direct van Sciver line, but could not do extesive work because of the enormous size of the project. He reserched the Van Sciver family before the Internet and went to the different archives over three years. I am putting together a Perkins geneaolgy for my children. I appreciate your work. Sincerely, Charlotte Miloszar |

| Comments: | Hi from another John Perkins. Descended from Isaac, and one of the Burlington County, NJ Perkins. I have a son John Jr and he has a son John III. We have (or had) a Perkins Association of Burlington County and used to hold biennial reunions until the mover and shaker of the group passed away in his 90's. There is a wealth of (as far as I know) unpublished family tree info on this group some of which I have and some that I need to have sent to me. The previous four generations of my family are all buried in Beverly Monument Cemetery in Edgewater Park, NJ
I found your essay extremely interesting, and found it searching in Google for Pierre Morley. There is a lot there that I didn't know and that I still need to digest and update my ancestral tree. My web site is a work in progress, and I intend to add a genealogy section to it once I get the menus working properly. Thank you very much. Jack Perkins |

I have a tid-bit of interesting info. My other family main line is the Hadleys out of England. Only know as far as my ggggggggggggreat grandfather who came from England but no further info. Anyways, he got here either the year before or the year after John Perkins and in a book written by one of my distant cousins on that side, it turns out that George Hadley had some interaction with John Perkins. Ironically, 200 years later My great Grandmother married a Hadley to tie the two families together there. I deeply appreciate ALL the research and time that went into this essay and am thankful for it. Thank you for ALL your hard work and GREAT job!! Also my relation is as follows... John Jacob John Thomas John Nehemiah Daniel Charles Wesley(only had 5 Daughters) Ethel Mae (married Albert C. Hadley of Tyngsboro, Mass)(3 children Olive Alberta Hadley (married Johannes Ten Brink of Michigan)5 Children Donna Jean Ten-Brink (who married Kenneth Gwinn of Paris, Tennessee)2 children Beverly Jeanette Gwinn (married Richard Lee Beare of New Mexico- 3 children) (ME) Rebecca Gwinn (married 1st Eldon Johnson of Nebraska 4 children- married 2nd John Falzarano of Mesa, Arizona- no children) |

| Comments: | This is a wonderful informational source. I am sure that everyone who has atleast 1 Perkins in their family tree, knows how much effort this essay and all the site workings have taken collectively, and that you, each and every one have our greatfulness. I have met my brick wall with Jarius C. Perkins b. abt 1803/4. m. Diana Chapman abt. 1826, His son Asahel (Asa) b. Abt. 1835 m. Laura (Lillian) Scranton b. Abt. 1838, had son Albert Everet Perkins b. abt 1859 m. Eugenia Horatio Leete dau. of Josiah Fowler Leete and Sarah Mehitable Bradley. Albert Leslie Perkins son of Albert Everet Perkins, b. October 21, 1894 in Chester, Middlesex County, CT, m. Henrietta Johanna Bruggemann unkn date, had son, Robert Leslie Perkins, b. August 10, 1920,in Madison, New Haven Co., CT, d. August 12,2000, Killingworth, Middlesex Co. Ct. His Son Curtis E. Perkins lives in VA and is in touch with me. Neither of us can find information about Jarius C. Perkins or wife Diana Chapman. If anyone has links to these Perkins branches, please let me know. Jarius our gggrandfather was a landed man in Lyme, New London Co., Ct. He died Dec 30, 1845 age 42. Left wife Diana Chapman and 6 children in poverty owing The Savings Bank of New London and the town monies. The land was sold off in parcels satisfying the town of Lyme and The Savings Bank of New London, leaving nothing for Diana and the children. I don't mean to ramble, but I really need a chink of light on this tree. Thank you all. |

| Comments: | HELLO: I search for George Washington Perkins. I found him on Mc Curtain co., Ok 1910 census yesterday. He says he was 56 years old, b. in Mo., father b. in Mo. Mother b. in va. He is a boarder in the Frank May household, is a laborer, making railroad ties. His connection to us is family tales. He supposedly taught my husbands grandfather English and grandfather, Turner Hathorne, taught him Indian languages. Turner died in 1914 and we know nothing of his young years. We hope that perhaps George Washington Perkins family might have an added link. Do you have info??? Marie Hawthorne donhawk00@Yahoo.com. |

| Comments: | My ancestry is through John and Judith Perkins' daughter, Mary Perkins Bradbury. This, of course, is a maternal line. On the paternal side I have not been able to get past my brick wall who is William H. Perkins, b.1808-09, where?, d. Nov. 17, 1864, Readfield, ME. He married his second wife, Amy Sayward in Parsonsfield, ME, October 1842, which is where my ggrandfather, Ancil B.Perkins was born.
I found the origin of our name to be very interesting. |

| Comments: | This is a very informative site. My 5 times greatgrandfather, Gilbert PERKINS, was born in Rochester, NH. He married Charity Hartford in 1749 in Hampton, NH. There are 6 of us working on this line of Perkins trying hard to find anything. We have one son Richard. It seems unlikely that there would only be one child in those days. Any help from anyone would be greatly loved.
Thanks for your hard work Keep it up. Diane |
