The breeder in Lyons, CO (way back in the the 1980's) was a school teacher of my middle son, and she gave him the dog. She was past her breeding years and the breeder knew our family would cherish this girl. Ursa lived out her time with us, and we learned to love the breed. I am looking for a new pet for my husband and myself, we are retired living in the Blue Ridge Mtns of Virginia, and I toyed with the idea of a Prye, so I was visiting breeder websites. HE IS A PERFECT GENTLEMEN ON A LEASH, NEVER PULLS AND ALWAYS TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES!! I TAKE HIM TO WORK WITH ME EVERYDAY AND HE IS SO GOOD IN THE CAR. BUT HERE IS THE CLENCHER.....WE HAVE A 15 MONTH BABY GIRL AND HE IS HER BEST FRIEND. HE SLEEPS UNDER HER CRIB AS IF GAURDING HER NIGHT. THEY PLAY HIDE AND SEEK, CATCH WITH TENNIS BALL. THIS WEEKEND WE TOOK HER AND THUNDER TO A BIG PARK AND THE MINUTE SHE TRIED TO WANDER THUNDER WOULD BLOCK HER WITH HIS TORSO. I HAD READ THAT THIS BREED IS GREAT WITH CHILDREN I JUST DIDN'T REALIZE HOW GREAT. THUNDER IS THE PERFECT ADDITION TO OUR FAMILY. | Comments: | I'll tell you a story with a happy ending and try to be brief. A couple a years ago a frind gave us a golden lab pup and we loved her. Her name was Honey and she was a good dog. Last Sept (2002) she died. We think it was West Nile Virus. I didn't really want to jump in to getting another dog because we were kind of mourning. Honey was a good dog. The other night we were chatting with a friend out front (we live way out in the country,) when all of the sudden this big, matty, sickly, white, pup stuck it's head out from under my fifteen pass. van ( we also have big family, 8 children.) People often dump there unwanteds out here to be taken in or die. The next morning he was still here. He was very sick, eat up with ticks, fleas, etc. and heavy mats in his hair. My girls went to work! He got a bath and he got brushed, and they picked out the bugs and...and... out emerged this beautiful Pyrenees pup. We have sinced wormed him and named him Cotton. He is great and he is the new dog the Lord sent us! We are very happy. The End |

They are the smartest and most loveable dogs I have ever been around. What a wonderful addition to our family. We need homes for 6 of our puppies, if anyone is interested in a mix.
