She died of a skin disease that we fought for five years, probably brought about by being wormed with Strongid as a 4 week old puppy. We want our next dog to come from a reputable breeder with good, healthy lines, so we don't have to go through that heartbreak again. I really miss my black lab, Meeya, who died when she was 12, 2 years ago. The intelligence and the brown eyes...I'm thinking about another black lab puppy when Sienna has gone. I'm starting to look at breeders now. I'm a social worker and Meeya went to work with me frequently. Would probably train the new puppy as a therapy dog, as well. We recently lost our dear friend and new family member, Bosco, a 11/2 yr old choc lab. Dr Jeff diagnosed a rare genetic defect known as rubberjaw, secondary hyperparathyroidism. We are devastated by this and are committed to learning,understanding and preventing other labs and familys from the awful experience. It is almost certain this is the result of puppymill/pet store practices. He was a 10 year old yellow lab we got from Gladys at Snowden Hills Labradors. We went to her after following the line of our first labrador "Ella" who we got from "Wing N Wave" Labradors. We loved them both so much. My husband and I both feel strongly about staying within the line. I have to admit, initially we thought the dogs would be be similar in personality. We could not have been more wrong, but also so delighted. As calm, gentle and refined as Ella was, Tank was 110 pounds of non-stop energy and a work ethic that would put anybody to shame.He actually learned to break into the refrigerator and would always eat the entire contents. It brought tears to my eyes as I remembered when we first brought our Sierra home to Henniker (from people who couldn't handle her) the first night. The rolly pollyness, alertness and energy of this puppy not to mention how cute and fluffy was absolutely a pleasure to watch and hold, you may have a customer once our girl passes, in the meantime, keep up your great work and enjoy each moment with these little treasures.
