| Comments: | I served as a Blue Platoon leader, A Trp, 1/9th Cav, from Dec 67 to 20 Aug 68 when I was shot in both legs on a snatch mission. A gun bird door gunner named Noble Lee Steeley ran from his bird to pull me out, and he got a DSC for his action. He died of cancer in 1992. His action saved my life and I salute him every time I think of him, which is many times every day.
God answered my prayers for His efforts led to my living a long and full life, being blessed with a loving wife, two children and two grandchildren. Also, He allowed me to retire from the US Army as a major, and to prosper today beyond my, and my parent's dreams. In 2004, one of my RTOs found me through the internet, and I have been reconnected with a dozen of my platoon members. God Bless You All. Support Our Troops! |

He was KIA in early 69. His sister Edna who was a very young girl at the time has asked me to find out anything that I can about his death and his life. | Comments: | Looking for information re: the death of Darrell Edwards Burns in Cambodia in June 23, 1970. He was attached to B Company, 5th Battalion, 7th Cavarly Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. I grew up with him and recently ran into his younger brother. My memory of Darrell is very good but I never heard exactly how he died, and even though it has been almost 34 years since his sacrifice, I felt uncomfortable asking his brother for this type of information. I would surely like to put this to rest. Can you help me or do you know someone who could shed some light on the subject? All efforts are greatly appreciated.

| Comments: | I came upon this web page by accident but an amazed by what I have seen. I was very touched by the film "We Were Soldiers", I know it only shows a small bit of what it was like in "Nam" but it has left a haunting memory wih me. Does anybody know if Lt Gen. Moore is still alive??. He looks to be a truely amazing man, careing and protective of his men and gentle and loving with his family.

| Comments: | I just finished We Were Soldiers Once...And Young. I want to thank all of you who served in the Ia Drang during Operation Silver Bayonet, and everyone who answered the call of duty during the Vietnam Era.
I'm a history teacher at Bay City Western High School in Auburn, MI. Right now, I'm thinking that it may be worth my while to ask for permission to use excerpts from Lt. Gen. Moore's book in class. Tears came to my eyes as I read the chapter about the wives and children of those killed in the engagements at X-Ray and Albany. I was pleased to learn that the movie stuck closely to the book, and that the book went beyond the ordeal at X-Ray. |
