I just started to try to learn the congas, been playing them for a few months in church. I am struggling to be loud enough to be part of the worship service yet not too loud. Most the time I get told to play louder. I wanted to know are there a such things as gloves to wear when playing, when it gets hot and heavy my hands start to throb and burn because of the fierce playing at times as well as breaking the blood vessels in my finger tips on most of my fingers. I am willing to go through it if needed but thought if there was a way to learn to play or gloves it would save some of the pain. Thanks for any help you can offer Jonathan |

I'm a biginner player from far Russia. I like congas and percussion culture very much, but it's very undeveloped direction of music in my country. So we have only two men wich can teach you to play. And this guys are very busy. So we can't study every week with masters. And of course in Russia we have another psychology. In Latin America's countries music and dance are joining the people more tnen here. Because in Russia people drink very much :) So many people don't understand what a beautiful time can present dance and rhythm. So, Good luck. Thanks for this page. |

| Comments: | Nice site. I have been tring to track down the video Jerry González, "Conga Drumming & Afro-Caribbean Rhythms for about a year now. My copy was destroyed. All links and info for Alchemy Pictures is dead. Do you know of any place to find this video as I agree it is the best conga video I have seen when it comes to learning.
