| Comments: | I was researching for 371st Armored Infantry Bn. and came across your site. I did notice that the 371st was not in your data base.
I was assigned to this unit from 1955 thru 1958. The Bn was attached to the 2d Armored Cav and/or 3rd Armored Cav (dependent upon which Cav Regiment was in USAREUR a the time) at Merrill Barracks, Nurnberg,Germany. The unit was detached from the 2d ACR in the later part of 1957 and moved to Worms Germany. I do have the unit insignia from the 371st. |

| Comments: | I ran across a pin with a gull (silver) on a blue embossed background surrounded by a ring of sterling silver. At the bottom is the inscription "FORTIOR EXASPERIS". My Dad; Edward Hugh Miller went into the Army in WWII and then went into the Army Air Corp and served in England from late 1944 to the end of the war in Europe flying B-17's.
He got out for a few years and went home to West Virginia to find nothing there. He was recommissined to fly for the Berlin Air Lift and stayed in the Air Force flying in Koria and Viet Nam. He came back to the states and died in 1972. The pin that I have looks alot older than the picture of it on your site. If you have any info please contact me. Thanks, Michael Miller |

Great web site. Was wondering why there is no mention of the Vietnam Unit Citations for the Infantry Units? The Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation are not listed for any Units that fought in Nam. It should be with the Decorations for the Units in their history. You have done a great job on this site MSG. Airborne, Geronimo and Drive On! | Comments: | Found this site searching for information about my father, Lieutenant Fred H. Rhodes, who was assigned to the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment when he was sent to Germany during WWII. He was there from about February 1945 to April 1945 when he was injured riding on the back of a tank. I am transcribing letters he wrote to my mother while there. It is very touching and quite poignant to read as he pours out his heart missing his family and touching on how things went while he was fighting. He always assured her he would be home safe and sound. He also frequently comments on what a "swell outfit" he was assigned to and how lucky he was to be there. He was proud of his men and even himself for their courage. It sounds like they "took" many towns. I actually have a large Nazi flag that he mentions he got from a building in Cologne along the Rhine River. I'll visit your site more when I finish typing these letters. It's almost like reading a novel - I can't stop typing as I anxiously await to see what's next. I also have spent many moments with a lump in my throat and tears streaming down my face. I wish I had found these letters when my father was still alive as they bring up so many questions. |

| Comments: | I Very much enjoyed your web site and found it most informative. My Dad served in Co. B, 105th Infantry as part of the New York National Guard, 27th Division during World War I. My Dad was wounded in action, spent considerable time in hospitals in both France and England before returning home. Tracing my Dad's battles and engagements continues to be of great interest. Thank you for adding to my knowledge and enjoyment. |

Excellent website for this subject. I am the military liaison of the Veterans of 1st & 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments and 1st Reconnaisance Battalion (Special), U.S. Army, 1942-1946 in Northern California. I have held this voluntary position since 1996. My father served in both regiments of the "Fighting Filipinos". The correct spell- ing is "Filipino" referring to the regiments and the correct speclling for the Philippine Scouts units is as I have typed. In 2001 and 2002, I invited the only two Filipino-American generals, LTG Edward Soriano (I Corps CG) and MG Antonio M. Comment on the 100/442nd Infantry Battalion of the 29th Brigade ... The 100th "Purple Heart" Battalion is the only RESERVE infantry unit in the present US Army. They are now activated for deployment to Iraq, and have been given the perhaps unique authorization to wear the insignia of their parent 442nd "Go For Broke" Infantry Regiment on the right sleeve in place of the 'former wartime service' insignia while they are serving as a part of the National Guard's 29th Brigade. That insignia (if images are supported for this Dreambook) is
If not, it can be seen at http://www.milhist.net/images/442rct.gif. |
