I was touched by the loving memorial you've created for your son. I'm very sorry for the loss you've suffered... and especially for the violent manner in which he was taken. I read your note in Whispers that Jarrett would have graduated this year. It brought back memories to me of the graduation Caroline would have participated in May 1997. I felt I HAD to be there, because she couldn't. She had a brain tumor. The ceremony was held in the coliseum, where on the floor were two sections of chairs for the students. The inner front two seats of each section had a beautiful white bow attached to the chairs - one in remembrance of Caroline, and one for Hayes, a classmate killed in an auto accident. I stayed for much of the ceremony and was glad to see that the two students were remembered in talks by other students, and their pictures on the large overhead screen. I was also grateful to get a program. I know this is a difficult time for you. We each walk our own separate path, but we experience so many of the same emotions about losing our children. I will remember Jarrett and that exceptional zest for life he seemed to have. I have a strong faith that we will be with our children when our time comes. I wish I could take some of your pain for you, so I will keep you in my prayers for comfort and peace. Sincerely, Sissy |

It is not the same here without you. Dawn and David came over with little Davey and Danielle this morning and we opened gifts. Then your dad went out with Dawn and Davey for him to go sledding down the hill at our new house a few times. They are gone up to the other grandparents house now to have Christmas with them. So now I wanted to come here and visit with you for a while on this Christmas Day and tell you how very much we still love you and miss you. | Comments: | I happened upon your sweet memorial page tonight. I want you to get some help, if you've not sought it already. My God, how tragic your loss! I have a 15 year old son and it scares me each time he walks out the door. I lost a sibling "in the waiting room" years ago and I can only tell you that "this too, shall pass"; our Heavenly Father promises this to us. The pain you are feeling will lessen with time and what you will have are all the precious, sweet, memories to cling to until you are reunited with his soul in Heaven. I believe that for you!!!
God bless you and your family and please, please talk to a professional while you are trying so desperately to heal. It will help. I will say a prayer for you to heal completely and to be able to forgive the young man who caused your son's death. He has to live with that for the rest of his life. I just read your son's story, and I am so sad for you and your loss. Although my daughter died under much different circumstances much of your story was very familar to mine....your emergency room experience, waiting in that small room, not realizing the severity of your son's sitiuation, the tree planting. Alot of those things were like our story. Again my sympathies to you and your family. I have an online support group for parents, currently we have less than 20 members, we are all very close. Today is your 18th birthday. I know how you looked forward to this birthday so you would officially be an adult. I am so sorry that circumstances made it impossible for that to happen. But I know that today as we celebrated your birthday here you were celebrating in Heaven. Dad and I put a new Steelers flag on your flagpole this morning and put pretty flowers on the ends of your headstone. It really looks nice. The flag fluttering in the wind was great.
