Comments:My husband and I began looking for a dog for our family in December 2008. We came across the SAFE Sanctuary on Petfinder.com. Through several emails with Patty, she helped suggest a few dogs that would work for our family. On Saturday December 13, 2008 we decided to go to their adoption day at the Faribault Mall to check out some of the dogs. As we walked into the mall we saw Emmy, one of the dogs that Patty had suggested. Emmy is a young Beagle who had puppies a few months before. Immediately Emmy started licking my son's and daughter's faces. My 7 year old son Luke went over and started filling out the adoption application himself! We agreed with Luke and decided Emmy was the dog for us. Emmy is the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever met. I love watching her greet my kids at the door when they come home from school. I think Emmy's favorite time of the day is bedtime with the kids when we all snuggle on the couch and read books together.
We couldn't have asked for a better dog! Thank you!

Comments:Patty, the head of SAFE, worked with our family on keeping our dog. She is fabulous!!! We spent a lot of time working with her on training issues so instead of giving our dog up we were able to fix her issues and she is staying with our family!! We spent a lot of time at Patty's house, her dogs are fabuous, she works with all of her foster dogs on training and it was fun to see them all lounging around the house, they are quite spoiled. This is a great group to work with and they are lead by a great person!!! I will send everyone I know to SAFE to adopt, the dogs are wonderful and so are the people!!

Comments:I really love this shelter. I went to one of the adoption drives and I loved how the people acted around the dogs and people. They were so down to earth and not snotty. The dogs on the other hand were very good and well behaved.
They love volunteers and I am going to help at their next adoption day. I tell everyone about going to it and adopting a dog.

Comments:To whom it may concern:

I would like to thank you for bringing myself & Chloe together on Sat. Jan. 17, 2009 in Faribault, MN.

I had seen the advertisement at Walmart with all the animals up for adoption that day. I had finished my Walmart shopping & was on my way home to St. Louis Park, MN. when I remembered about the adoption. I had been thinking about getting a companion for my 1 ½ yr. old Yorkshire Terrier (named Harry) for the last few month. So, I decided to stop to see the animals.

I happen to be talking with a foster mother who had a little dog & looked across the room & seen this tiny little dog all wrapped up in blanket. I just had to go see this little dog. It was love at first sight for me. I knew that I could offer her a good home & that she would be perfect for Harry.

She sat so nice in the car for the 50 mile drive to my home. When she came into my house, Harry didn’t know what to think of Chloe. He sniffed & kissed her & within a few minutes they were both on the sofa looking out the window. She would look at me as if she was thinking to herself, I am finally home & I have a new good Mama & a new companion Harry.

Chloe is just adorable, so sweet and loving. She is adjusting to my home and to Harry very nicely. Harry and Chloe love to play with each other. They have started a routine in the evening of I chase you & you chase me. It’s so cute. They both lay or sit on my sofa and look out the window. Then when it’s bedtime, they each have found their own spot to sleep on my bed. Needless to say, this doesn’t leave much room for me to sleep!!

On Saturday, Chloe is going to the Vet for her shots & then we’re off to PETCO to get a nice warm coat or sweater & boots. This will be our 1st big outing. Then next week, she’s off to the beauty shop for a bath & have her nails done.

In my heart, I truly feel that God had spoke to me on Jan. 17th, 2009 by saying – go to the Mall – Chloe needs you, Harry needs Chloe and you need Chloe.

Thank you so much

Pat

Comments:I love my new dog Walter that I adopted on the 12th of December! He's so perfect for our family. He loves everyone he comes into contact with and is enrolled in fun training classes with me right now. We think he could be a great therapy dog. I think that he would have some fun with agility exercises training.

Thank you SAFE Sanctuary!

Comments:After the passing of our beloved, almost-15-year-old American Eskimo, we knew we wanted another dog. Through the power of the Internet, we found exactly what we wanted--little Skee, a husky x puppy, fostered through your organization, who is now the joy of our lives. He came to us extremely socialized and secure, so we know your foster parents did an outstanding job in making him part of their family--if only for a short time.

Skee has been renamed Sky and is, as my three-year-old calls him, our "best friend."

Comments:Dear SAFE Sanctuary

In July of 2005 at the pet food store in Dundas I was adopted by Omen (formerly Porky.. his brother was Buckwheat) and I can't express how much of a joy he's been. I've never had such a smart cat - not only does he know how to say the word "Mama" (I kid you not), but he also does some tricks in exchange for kitty treats. How many other cats actually come when you call them specifically? <3 I just wanted to say a big thanks to SAFE for saving him so that I could enjoy him //_^

The update said surgery was "today" but didn't give an actual date and I don't know how old the update is. I love Mastiffs and seeing her just broke my heart. I hope to see an update soon! Thanks.

Comments:Hello everyone!

This summer we adopted Ollie, a 6 yr old male bichon frise from your organization. First, I would like to express my gratitude for the love, care and resources that SAFE volunteers provide to these animals. You are all angels.

Ollie is the most wonderful addition to our family! He loves walking and hiking, playing with the Golden next door, and spending time with his grandparents and our friends. He likes to sleep under my feet while I work and sleep in the bed at night. He's my constant companion, and all of our friends/family adore him. It is obvious that his previous owner provided excellent vet care and lots of love and good discipline. We just love this little guy and I'm so glad we could give him a good home. I didn't think I would want another dog after my bichon 'Princess' passed away last spring, but I was so lonely. I think Ollie was sent from the Lord to help heal my grief.

His allergies have improved during the winter, leading us to believe that some of the allergies are seasonal. We have kept him on the duck/potato diet he was accustomed to and have special shampoos the vet prescribed for him. He loves to be in the woods and grass though so in the growing season I just have to take care to bathe him frequently and be viligent about diet. Except for his allergies he is quite healthy!

Thanks again for all you do!

Comments:About 2 years ago my (now wife) and I came to Faibault to look at 3 border collie/springer spaniel pups named Troy, Trace and Toby. Neither of us had ever had a dog, but we both wanted one. When we met the pups, they sure were a handful! Toby, all white with black spots, made the best impression as he came over to Lisa and plopped onto her lap contently chewing away on a rawhide. We knew this was ours. 2 years later and about 80 pounds heavier, he still thinks he is that little puppy and tries to sit on our laps! To quote my father, 'he is a big dog, with an even bigger heart!' We are thinking about a second dog too, and this is a great place as they come to us socialized and ready. Thanks!

Comments:Almost one year ago, on Feb 12, 2005 we adopted the BEST and most loved jack russell/beagle mix from SAFE. We just went to "look" and ended up adopting our bestest buddy ever, Thurston (fka Jack). He is the sweetest, most endearing and lovable creature ever. He LOVES kids, adores our cats (even though they don't especially think fondly of him) and is the most loyal companion. We have never regretted our decision to adopt him. We will try and bring him for a visit on an upcoming adoption day so everyone can see how well he has been doing and how confident he has become. He's getting so grown up and quite handsome (not that he wasn't before!!)

Comments:Ponzi (formerly known as Sparky) Update
Sparky joined our family in August 2005. We renamed him Ponzi and cannot imagine our lives without him. In the last 6 months he has taught us that he will learn and do almost anything for treats and lots of praise, so he continues to work on obedience skills while working toward earning his Canine Good Citizen certification and participating in Rally-O. Ponzi still loves to cuddle and enjoys running in his backyard, exploring the dog park, being spoiled by his family and playing games like Find It. Thank you so much for rescuing him so that we could adopt him. We look forward to many more years and memories with Ponzi.

A little over 6 months ago we adopted a beautiful puppy named Huston who we renamed Cubby, after the Chicago Cubs. He is happy, healthy and of course SPOILED, but not rotten. We are so happy with the whole experience of the adoption and everyone we came in contact with during the process. Of course I have to say that we couldn't be happier with Cubby. We have been thinking about getting Cubby a brother and if we decide to adopt again I have no hesitation coming to you again. Thank you! Abby & Kathy Chavez, St. Paul, MN

Comments:Thank you and Hunter Update
I have to say that you are doing wonderful work in housing and placing the dogs and other animals that you rescue! It was great to meet you and your pack. Hunter the Blue and Fawn Doberman is Awesome! He has integrated into our homes and our pack of 3 (Daisy, Ted and Simba) and he is almost a bigger Love Sponge than Daisy! His is negative for hypothyroid so the fur loss is most likely due to stress and poor diet. His ears are all better and he actually is 'smiling' and having a lot of romp time with the crew! Know he is doing very well and he is truly grateful for a 2nd chance at life! (Thanks to you and the others who helped get him out of animal control!)

Comments:Grainger/Ranger
Last year after Thanksgiving my wife and I adopted the small yellow lab mix, Grainger, or as he was more commonly called, Ranger. We have since renamed him, but he is doing great. After a lot of work, he has become great on and off leash and has become a wonderful, loving member of our family. He has learned much faster than I could have imagined. All he needed was the opportunity, discipline and time to have soneone work with him. Thanks Again.
