| Comments: | Appart from the summer tour in Europe 1995 ( a couple of songs) and at Jay Leno TV-show (Goosebumps were Jerry read the words from a big sign) also from 1995 Jerry has refused to perform anything at all from the Young Blood CD. Thats a real shame I think because the CD i very good.

I hope everyone is doin fine and enjoy the summer and listen to Jerry´s music. Myself I´m doing good and have a few days left before I get back to my job again. I´m happy to read everyone´s stories from Jerry Lee´s shows in UK this summer. He seems to be in good health at age of 68½ years old and his voice and pianoplaying is strong. The killer STILL got it !!!!!! I can´t see him this summer,but will see him in France 8 th October. Hope he will be in good health til that show in Toulouse at Havanna cafe´. I know that Jerry Lee doesn´t read this guestbook ( or do you ?? ) If you read this: "Thank you very much for your music you started back in 1956 at the Sun studio. | Comments: | Ongelofelijk... ik las een forum met berichten van mensen over het concert van 1 maart... wat een zinloze discussie!!! Ik heb veel live-opnamen van de laatste decennia gehoord, ook die van 1 maart en moet zeggen dat dit concert tot de betere behoorde. Wat verwachten mensen eigenlijk van de man? Hij is 67! Wat meer respect is op z'n plaats: hij tourt nog steeds en neemt nog steeds op, en niet met de minsten! Bestudeer zijn leven en vooral zijn muziek eens, dan kun je alleen maar respect hebben voor de man. En interesseer je vooral voor de feiten, die liegen er niet om. Zo praat zijn vroegere gitarist Roland Janes nauwelijks met de pers, omdat hij weet dat de pers niet geinteresseerd is in feiten maar de sappige anekdotes in stand wil houden. Het gros van de mensen slikt wat de pers zegt, zodoende komen sommige mensen tot belachelijke stellingen. Sommige daarvan hebben we kunnen lezen op dat forum... triest, heel triest.

Ik geloof niet dat er zo'n boek bestaat. De meeste beelden zijn gemaakt vanaf de zijkant, dus je kunt niet precies zien wat hij speelt. Ik heb mij zijn spel eigen gemaakt door vooral mijn oren te gebruiken. Wel bestaat er een dvd met een optreden in Engeland (1989) die op dvd is uitgebracht, waarbij je soms beelden van 'bovenaf' ziet. Het is een optreden met special guests zoals Brian May en Van Morrison. De titel is mij niet bekend. Thijmen. |

| Comments: | Peter, thanks for your answer. I've listened to his recordings from 1954 and I'm truly amazed by his pianoplaying! This led me to find out more about his earlier recordings. What surprises me is that his pianoplaying (1954) sounds so full, almost orchestral. A very varied left hand, and more full chords and octaves in his right, while some of his Sun recordings sound more simplefied. Well, enough of that... ROCK ON!!! |

| Comments: | Ik was er helaas niet op 1 maart. Ik was aan de late kant met kaartjes bestellen. Kon er nog 1 krijgen maar moest er 3 hebben. Dan gaan we dus niet. Wel heb ik nog geprobeerd via een oproep op marktplaats aan kaartjes te komen. Een paar reacties gehad, maar niet kunnen slagen. Prijzen waren van euro 60,-- tot 80,--. Dus het volgende, als mensen geen fan zijn maar gewoon op een achterbakse manier aan geld willen komen, laat ze dat dan niet over de rug van de Killer en zijn fans doen. Misschien kunnen ze ook gewoon een baan nemen. Aso's.

Jimmy Ripp kwam naar me toe om te vragen of ik naar Paradiso wilde komen om mee te doen met de soundcheck. Ik op trillende benen naar het Paradiso, laten ze me er niet in! Ik uitleggen dat Jimmy Ripp me gevraagd had te komen... ze peinsden er niet over! Ze wilden er niemand bij hebben! Helaas... Maar wat een goede show! Jerry Lee overtrof mijn stoutste verwachtingen! Wat een pianospel, en nog goed bij stem ook! Die recensenten... gemakzuchtige stukjes voor het geld... |

| Comments: | De foto's van de Paradiso show op Wim van der Heijden z'n site zijn inderdaad mooi maar ik zie niet in wat er zo leuk is aan die waardeloze 'recensies', of wat daar voor door moet gaan. Ze stikken zoals gewoonlijk weer van de feitelijke onjuistheden en erger nog ook opnieuw een aantal ronduit walgelijke beledigingen aan Jerry's adres. En dat heten dan de betere en serieuzere kranten te zijn. Nou vergeet het maar, ze halen nog niet het niveau van de gemiddelde schoolkrant.
Ik zal Wim vragen of hij er wat in ziet om de reakties die ik naar deze kranten heb gestuurd ook op z'n site te zetten zodat zij die deze site bezoeken de correcte informatie kunnen lezen en een beter beeld kunnen krijgen van hoe Jerry en de show afgelopen maandag waren. M'n reaktie op het NRC artikel zullen jullie niet in die krant lezen want men heeft geweigerd deze te publiceren. Op zich begrijpelijk want het werd uit die brief wel heel erg duidelijk wat een ongelooflijke wanprestatie hun 'recensent' Jan Vollaard had geleverd, dit in tegenstelling tot Jerry Lee die een korte maar geweldige niet door (lange) monologen en meezingpartijden opgerekte show gaf die we ons nog jaren zullen heugen. Het was overigens terecht een kort maar krachtig concert, erg jammer dat het zo kort duurde. Jerry had er zin in (dacht ik te merken) en aan het spel was dat ook duidelijk te merken maar toch..... het kan niet lang genoeg duren. |

| Comments: | Paradiso 1-3-04:Jerry was verrassend goed bij stem. Met name in de eerste nummers klonk hij nog precies zoals pakweg 20 jaar geleden! Kort, maar gezien Jerry's leeftijd verrassend krachtig optreden. Blij dat ik mijn zoon (22 jr.) JLL nog eens live in goede vorm heb kunnen laten zien en horen. Alleen had het geluid echt een stuk beter gekund. Het geluid van de piano was ronduit beneden de maat.Zodra de band inzette hoorde je nagenoeg alleen de hoge noten van de piano. Met name Jerry's geweldige linkerhand was niet of nauwelijks te horen! In januari j.l.was ik bij het concert van de TCB Band in Paradiso. Daar kregen ze het ook voor elkaar op Glenn D.Hardin's piano volkomen weg te mixen en nagenoeg alle briljante James Burton fills ten onder te laten gaan in een geluidsbrei.
Gelukkig kan ik Jerry's pianowerk optimaal beluisteren in opnamen van o.a.Hammersmith Odeon 1983. Met dat in mijn achterhoofd had ik op 1-3-04 toch weer een indrukwekkende avond! |

sorry mensen, maar wat kunnen de fotografen onder ons een concert proberen te verpesten. het ligt misschien aan mezelf (ik dacht altijd dat backstreetboy taferelen alleen van nu waren), maar wat werd ik niet goed van de tientallen mensen om me heen die koste wat kost de beste jerry lee foto's moesten maken, dit maakt het moeilijk van een concert dat nota bene 35 minuten duurt te genieten. maar goed, over het optreden zelf. zelden zo'n leuk voorprogramma gezien, ijzersterke band naar mijn mening, voortreffelijk geluid (in ieder geval vooraan) en fraaie songkeuze. wederom jammer dat sommigen het nodig vinden om 'boeeee' en 'jerry leeeeee' tussendoor te roepen. zal wel aan mijn leeftijd liggen ofzo (was dat vroeger normaal?) jerry lee speelde naar mijn mening ook fantastisch (vooral georgia), echt kippenvel om hem sweet little sixteen te zien spelen, een nummer dat ie nota bene nog met elvis heeft gedaan, heel bijzonder. maar goed, dat komt ook omdat ik nooit gedacht had nog iemand van die generatie in levende lijve aan het werk te zien. jerry, je was fantastisch bij stem en hebt me een onvergetelijke avond bezorgt! | Comments: | Ik ben het helemaal eens met Maarten! De reactie van Ruud was een veel gehoorde mening gisteravond na afloop van het concert. Zelf deel ik de mening van Maarten dat we ons zelf gelukkig moeten prijzen dat Jerry Lee nog steeds live shows geeft en (ook) de jongere generaties een kans geeft om van Rock 'n' Roll te genieten in zijn orginele vorm.
Ik heb The Killer nu een aantal malen live mogen meemaken en ik vindt dat hij er gisteren erg goed uitzag, sterk overkwam en een geweldige show heeft neergezet. Vanzelfsprekend had het langer gemogen, maar dat had ik ook gevonden als hij 3 uur lang had gespeeld. Je kan immers nooit genoeg Jerry Lee Lewis horen! God Bless Jerry Lee Lewis!! Harald |

| Comments: | Spijtig dat je er zo tegenaan kijkt, Ruud. Ik ben het met je eens dat de show in Amsterdam (35 minuten) wat langer had gemogen. Maar wat voor een show!!! De zang en het pianospel van Jerry waren ronduit indrukwekkend voor iemand van 68 met al zoveel rock 'n' roll jaren achter zich. Laten we blij zijn dat JLL - als laatste overlevende legende van de Sun Studio - nog in ons midden is en dit soort concerten kan geven! Ik neem het hem niet kwalijk dat hij zichzelf ontziet - gelet ook op het verslag van tweede Gleneagles show - en de voorkeur geeft aan een korte, geconcentreerd uitgevoerde show. Ik besteed mijn geld liever aan een dergelijke strakke show dan aan een langer concert van Chuck Berry of Little Richard waarvan een groot deel opgaat aan irrelevant geklooi (zoals valse gitaar, publiek uitnodigen op toneel, 20 minuten publiek laten meezingen met Blue Berry Hill etc.etc.). Meestal ben ik dan degene die al na een halfuur wegloopt.

ik, 19 jaar, helemaal wild van rock n roll, heb gewoon 2 kaartjes voor jerry lee lewis en kan het niet geloven! al sinds ik een klein ventje was luister ik naar jerry zn muziek (en natuurlijk van elvis, chuck, little richard, enz), maar naarmate ik ouder werd, kwam ik tot het besef dat mijn helden vaak al te oud waren om nog op te treden, in het geval ze nog leefden dan.en dus koesterde ik jerry en elvis in mijn hart. maar nu komt ie gewoon naar amsterdam, en heb ik kaartjes, ik kan het niet geloven :) jerry beleefde zijn hoogtijdagen tientallen jaren voor ik uberhaupt geboren was. kan niet wachten, nog 20 nachtjes slapen!! tekieto |
