I have always had a thirst for learning of this foundation in my adult years and congratulate you all on your efforts . Grandparents are the glue of most families and sadly once they pass the bond slowly unsticks, so for me its a great reminder of my past visiting this site. The pedigree referred to in the declaration on the other side is as follows:- That is to say that Mary Ann Giles this deponent is daughter of Ann Matthews who was daughter of SarahGoodall, which said Sarah Goodall was daughter of William Hendy, who was son of Thomas Hendy and Anstice his wife, which said Anstice Hendy was daughter of Anstice May whose maiden name was Randall, who was daughter of John Randall which said John Randall and the said John West were sisters sons and Jasper Randall, father of the said John Randall, and the father of the said late John West married two sisters whose maiden name was Stare. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? not sure if this is related to my late Gran's side of the family she was a Thatcher and her father was born in Wiltshire. I've spent countless agonizing hours going over this dreambook and I keep coming up with the same thing: my spouse and I are actually related! They legalized gay marraige in our state, but they did away with blood testing. Go figure! We had a lovely Rememberance Service at noon for John & Frances West around the Ledger stone, followed by a superb walk around the cemetery during the afternoon. Nunhead Cemetery is such a peaceful area and must abound in wildlife. I wish we lived closer, I would visit more often. It was nice to have met you.

| Comments: | My 4th great-grandmother was Martha West of Rowde, Devizes, Wiltshire, daughter of John West and Jane (surname unknown). Martha was b. 26 Aug 1706 and bapt. 30 Aug. She married my 4th great-grandfather John Goldingham on 28 June 1725 at Rowde, Devizes. I should love to know more about Martha's antecedants - even a surname for her mother would be very welcome (the only John West-Jane marriage in or near Devizes that I have found is John West m. Jane Lanpheare in Rowde, but that was on 23 Dec 1687 - seems a long gap from then until Martha's birth, or even until that of her (probably) eldest brother Thomas in 1700. Any information that might shed light on this branch of the West family (whichever it may be) would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

| Comments: | I am registered with Christ's Hospital , and have a Pedigree. Janet, at Christ's was very helful in organising this. I joined The West Family Group, who have a gather every year.My sister and myself went last year for the first time. We found it very interesting. There we found out that we descend down the White Line(Cox). The gathering was at Aylesbury last year, and again this year, on the 9th. June, also in Aylesbury. Hope to have one nearer where I live (Bath/Somerset). My sister lives in West Sussex, but our family live near Birmingham. Our most recent descendants come from Stratford on Avon, and Kidderminster.

| Comments: | It's been fascinating reading all the names and comments on the West site, unfortunately I have not found any Hardy family names on the tree. I have an old written document titled 'From Mr John West and Frances West by Specifation of Descent' also showing the Hardy heraldy.
The tree appears to show the Richard Mason & Sarah West (sister of John West) Yellow Line and William Lynch & Ann Sakes (sister of Frances Sakes) line. It appears that Mary daughter of Daniel Sherman married Anthony son of William and Winifred Lynch. It appears that the two Lines married into each other? Mary and Anthony's daughter Hannah Lynch married Charles Ogleby Hardy my GrtGrtGrtGrt-Grandfather. His son was William Montagu, his son Edward Arthur and his daughter Marianne Hardy who married Thomas Francis Gardiner. I would be so grateful if anyone could help me shed some light on this. I have a copy of a letter, mailed to my cousin, which states he is not eligible to claim on the West Family Trust, because of his pension. However, my Grandmother, Florence Mason born 1889 Andover, Hampshire, was able to benefit from this trust after her husband was killed in action 1914. He had 2, william and Sarah. William the son had 2 children also. My line comes from Sarah, niece of John West. The line to me was in London (Bethnall Green)until the mid 1800s when a daughter married a Leicester man, there are lots of cousins across the midlands now, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Rutland, Bedfordshire and Nottinghamshire. |

I am researching the "Tombs" family tree who came from Newbury in Berkshire. My gr,gr,gr grandfather was called Israel Tombs he was Born in 1808 and died in 1889 in Newbury. He married Maria Purdue born in 1807 and died in 1889 she was also from Newbury. Maria was the daughter of Joseph Purdue born in 1762 and Hannah Parsons born in 1765 both from Newbury. Maria's grandparents were James and Mary Purdue (nee Morrell) I would be very greatfull for any assistance anyone can give me, I am now going to find out about joining the West Family Group.
