Comments:Dear Mr: Hackett,
do you remember your holidays in Italy, this past summer?
I'm Gianfranco, the guitar player you came up in the Oasis Hotel in Alghero.

During these mounts I've spent some time to listen to your works, and wathing videos on
youtube.... But've never found the courage to contact you. My God, I've played in front
of a such big artist, and I think that it's really a shame form me the fact that I didn't
know even about your esistence before our meeting.
I'm involved mostly in progressive metal music, but I love everything that is
"progressive", every sort of music that use contamination between different styles. And
most of all, I love the Flute!!! It's for sure the other instrument that I'd love to
learn and play.

I hope to find the way to come to assist to a your concert, soon or later, but since
I've had the privilege to know you personally, I hope the next time you come in Alghero
you'll bring your flute with you: I'd be really honored to jam with you, and I'd call me
very luky if you'd accept to record some tracks in one of my songs!! Maybe I'm asking too
much... eh eh!!

By the way, I hope this past summer you recieved the cd and the dvd that I left to the
Hotel Recepsionist..... I would really greatfull if you could express your impression
about my musical "Eco e Narciso". I know that italian language doesn't help to appreciate
the songs completly, but still you can give a musical opinion.

Now I'm working to another musical, and this one too, like the other, talks about a
Greek tragedy, the myth of Orpheus and Euridice. At the moment I've written almost all
the tracks, and I'm really proud because this work seems to be in some ways better than
the older... fresh and more live-sounding, even if (except for guitars and basses) every
single instrument comes form my computer. How would great to have a real orchestra, eh
eh!! We have great projects for this new musical, and I hope we'll find the way to
traslate it and export in other countries such England, where seems that Greek Myth is
really appreciated. Wo knows??

Oh, it's late and I have to go....
Thank you very much for appreciating my playing this past summer.
Thank you to your mother, as well, for all the sweet, sweet, sweet words she spoke about
our Piano Bar Trio
Thank you for reading this e-mail written down in my horrible english, eh eh!!

Bye,
Gianfranco

Comments:I saw a Steve Hackett gig at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall a while ago. It was his brother's flute playing that stunned me. As the melody of Hands Of A Priestess soared from his flute and around the auditorium, I wept. It was gorgeous. We went to see the gig a second time and this time I bought John's CD Checking Out Of London. It's glorious. His voice is sweet, slinky and full and it's now one of my favourite albums. If you like British rock that's thoughtful and moving, I urge you to give this a listen and buy it so you can reward this wonderful musician. Here's a cyber hug as thanks to John for a fabulous album.

I am pleased to see the announcement for your brand new album wit Moodi Drury and I think the samples sound positively ace and I cannot wait until next month! God bless you and all you big Hackett music people. When are you coming up to Scotland to perform please? I think Glasgow has a good music tradition even in rock and dance, also Edinburgh with the 'cultured' types! Haha. Take care! See you! Graham.

Good singing, excellent music tapestry and a terrific break by brother Steve. The Checking out Of London songs are even better live and I really hope to see a full tour and a magnificent italian show. Not to be missed also the beautiful lyrics by Nick Clabburn.

Comments:Sheffield Boardwalk 20th May. Brilliant gig - faultless. Prog rock? Don't give me that - that was more than classic rock. The brothers have shown us yet again they are the masters of their art. John's flute playing and Steve's guitar were jaw dropping. Very pro band. Nuff said.

Comments:What a totally enjoyable evening at the Boardwalk. Apart from an astounding musical event' i actually got to meet people i have loved and respected since my adolescence. A vastly under attended event concidering such virtuosity. I await the next John Hackett with baited breath and hope that it's the same team. Congradulation John. May i say in addition that Nick's playing was none the worse for such a lengthy abscence from performing live. The synergy between you all was electric The trip down from Hartlepool was well worth it.

Many thanks are due. First, thank you for your time after the Seattle concert on the Hackett acoustic tour.
It was a thrill to meet you (and the others) and chat.
Second, thanks for the great album COOL (Checking out of London). I hope you can play Vancouver, BC one day. I'm willing to drive to Seattle but it's a rather long drive and that US border can be a pain.
I just listened to the flute-dance fusion track - love it! Now I'm even more excited at the thought of seeing you and band play live. I wish I could attend the Genesis convention but alas my travel budget will be spent on a trip to Turkey to see the March 29th total eclipse of the sun.

Fond memories of those classic Hackett shows in the 70's...the feel of the bass pedals in the chest...the dry ice...then, contrasting, the romance of the flute with the nylon guitar...the hair...the afghan coat...the 'loon' trousers...what did my wife see in me? Could be a song title, there..."What did she see in me?"
Oh bollocks - I feel like a right old fart now!!
