| Comments: | I just wanted to voice my support in your efforts regarding stopping the breeding of the "twisty cats". I am a cat lover and this lady's view of reality is very warped and sick. If it happened once naturally I can understand keeping and loving the kitty, but I DO NOT condone breeding them! Are local people buying them? I would say if nobody bought them, the greedy lady would stop doing this. I guess it must be hard for some people to do that. At least cats with other deformities like munchkin cats and manx cats can stilk live normal lives. The twisty cats cannot lead normal lives.The pads on normal cat's feet protect them when walking and putting weight on them. If twisty cats are putting all their weight on their "elbows" or whatever you want to call it, it could hurt and they could get sores/wounds. I wonder if she would like to amutate toddlers legs at the knee because then they wouldn't "get into" as much stuff, and it sure would make the terrible twos much more bearable. |

| Comments: | Here it is 2007 and I just heard of the twisty cat lady. Never had cats before now may be why. I and several of my friends have what is called a handicap. Many decided not to have children because of the sureity of passng this problem onto their children. Being a Christian, I believe God healed the lame, blind, mentally ill etc. For someone to breed the handicap on deliberately and looking for the "best twisties" is just more than I can stand. Yeah, they "adapt" but adapting is not necessarely living the fullest and best of ones life. |

| Comments: | Everyone looks stunned whn i tell them i bathe my cat 2x per month. BUT U HAVE TO or ur apt WILL SMELL! Ur tips on bathing cats were spot on and HILARIOUS!!!! I usually look like im going paintballing whn i bathe my kitty, and tho she does eye me suspiciously in my paint gear, i manage to trick her every time. Another helpful tip is to have 2 filled buckets in tub. One soapy, the other clear water to rinse. And instead of a blowdryer, try a diffuser or diffuser attachment. It doesnt blow the fur around and dries fur quickly! |

I have researched but there is little information. I wonder where she came from and if we know of any future problems she will have because of her deformities. If you can help me find more information that would be great. Please note: I adopted her, I did not pick her specifically for her deformities, the agency placed her with me based on her personality, I found out she had the deformity after I applied for her adoption and already fell in love with her. I did not seek her out for her deformity. |

| Comments: | I happened on your website by accident when researching my own cat to find out the deal with the "extra thumb" condition. I was originally told that she was a calico with a mutation, since I have researched and found that it is a fairly common trait and that there is nothing wrong with her and I'm glad to discover that. I happened to see that there were other deformities and came across "flipper/twisty" cats. I am absolutely HORRIFIED and DISGUSTED with the breeding of these poor cats. Cats have always been known as having "9 lives" because they are agile and amazingly acrobatic animals. How in the WORLD are these mutated/disfigured/deformed cats supposed to live up to their potential being that they are handicapped and cheated out of their full limbs? That would be like us walking around with shortened arms like T-Rex's. I went to high school with a man who had a deformity involving arms that were shortened. This forearm just never grew properly and he had shortened arms. To say that this is not a handicap is injustice. He had the hardest time tying his shoes, grabbing his book, and brushing his teeth. He was considered "handicapped". For this breeder to call herself a breeder is a shame. She is encouraging and making a profit off the cat's sufferings. How DARE she call them a new fun breed, my heart would break if I ever came across a cat that looked like that. Those cats need to be rescued and their breeding needs to halt. That is not how nature intended cats to be like. |

| Comments: | Good afternoon - I work for a rescue group in Ohio, and recently signed up to foster. My first set of fosters are a pair of Siamese (one chocolate point, one snowshoe) with radial hypoplasia. While they are the sweetest cats God ever placed on this earth, looking at their bodies makes me want to cry. Despite what the Twisty Cat lady may say, these cats do NOT lead normal, healthy lives. One of my fosters has a grade 4 heart defect, which the vet believes to be a product of the deformity breeding that created him. The scuttle and hobble along the floor, are terrified of anything larger them, are at an increased risk of arthritis and infected skin callouses, have issues with their eye ducts, have limited jumping ability, and must be carefully monitored so they don't jump DOWN off of anything, because they have no front legs to brace their fall and their deformed front paws are at increased risk for broken bones. I don't care how much she loved her cat - I love these two, too. She should not have PURPOSELY bred cats to further this deformity. It's not RIGHT to cause this kind of health risk to an animal - ANY animal! These two were found abandoned, living under a porch, without the physical ability to hunt or protect themselves. Not EVERYONE will responsibly keep and feed these pets. Some are left, abandoned, to die. I hope that thought haunts her until her dying day. |

I see no reason why this woman cannot continue to breed her twisty cats if the deformities do not make the cat suffer.. have you ever been near one of these cats and played with it? or have you spoken to the cats vet? or even bothered to visit this woman? because if you havent chances are your not getting the whole truth. I've read plenty of things on similar sites which said they spoke to the vet and the vet said there was nothing wrong with the cat except for the fact that it cant jump as far/high as the other cats. I actually think they're cute and like i said before if the deformities are not causing the cat to be in pain or suffer in any way than it should be fine to keep breeding them. |

| Comments: | Help!! I came across this website while searching for information. My cat recently had a litter of three kittens. I immediately noticed that one had strange front legs. It's front feet (more pronounced on the left side) were at an odd angle on short legs. I have agonized over what to do. I watched as the kitten nursed very strongly and appeared to be healthy in other aspects. I don't want to continue allowing this kitten to live if it is going to have a miserable life. On the other hand, I don't want to take a life if the deformity can be comfortably lived with. As I watch it, it seems to be fine and gets around okay. Any advice? If I keep it I will have it spayed/neutered. |

We thought your visitors may enjoy a few details why having an animal companion in your life may help you become healthier. When we did research for our new book, Angel Cats: Divine Messengers of Comfort (New World Library, September, 2004), we concluded that cats (and dogs) are invaluable additions to healing therapies. For example, the average housecat's purring falls into the frequency range that increases bone density, relieves pain, heals tendons and muscles, and eases migraine headaches. The British Medical Journal reports the ability of dogs to sniff out cancerous tumors. In addition, dogs' need to be walked causes people to exercise and lose weight. Pets are great stress-relievers - lowering blood pressure, offering emotional support, and providing much-needed fun-breaks. | Comments: | I have a cat that was a stray cat and I took care of it when I found it at my door about 6-7 years ago and am curious what the breed might be. it has bigger ears and is a grey, brown, white, and orange-ish color with a spirral type marking on its sides. it has a medium length coat. There have been a lot of changes for me in England, I have moved into my first house of my own and have a cat of my own for the first time - Jasmine is curled up on my lap like a furry pill bug right now, and she and I wish you and Skuzzy and Lucky all the best, and hope Bubba is doing well too.
