| Comments: | My greatgrandmother on my father's side (Theodore Earl Dean)was Sarah Jane Postlewaite. Sarah Jane married Stephen Dean.
I have a copy of GENERAl AFFIDAVIT that Sarah stated that she was the wife of Stephen Dean. When Stephen died Sarah applied for Stephen's pension. If I read this correctly she received $14. Sarah's last payment was (for some unknown reason)$12 to Dec 1914. She died December 4th. Once again if I remember correctly, one of her boys came home drunk and left his cigarette burning. This caused the whole house to burn killing Sara Jane. This is what I think I know. If you have more information please let me know. NY.They had five kids. The family was very poor and James was always in trouble with the law. The family moved to Montgomery Co. NY Town of Amsterdam in 1880. James was arrested in Schenectady NY and went to prison . The children Mary, Elizabeth , James , Sarah ,William all lived and died in Amsterdam and Fort Plain. A few years ago we went to Millom England and saw the church and burial area of the Postlethwaits and also went to the county seat looked through the Registry of the church in abook that was traslated from the old english. | Comments: | I am really hoping to substantiate that our Norris line is from Thomas Norris, the Immigrant, with William Claiborne, who settled Kent Island, Maryland. My father, Bill Norris, has done a considerable amount of research on the Norris line. He has been ill and I am hoping to follow in his footsteps. My brother and I , though raised in Baltimroe, have found ourselves residents of Kent Island, quite by accident.
My father has traced to my ggggrandfather, David Norris, born in 1804, married to a Mary (Unknown). On the LDS site, David Norris, b. 1804, in Harford Co., MD and Mary Clowman, b. 1806, Harford Co, MD, m. 05 NOV 1829 in Balto MD. I've found a David and Mary on an 1850 census in the 1st District of Baltimore with Edward, my gggrandfather; and on an 1870 in Little Gunpowder, 12th District, Balitmore Co, MD. At one time, part of Harford County, MD was actually a part of Baltimore County. I haven't been able to determine if this particular part was, but Little Gunpowder is now near the Harford Co. line. On an 1880 Howard County census, David was living with his son, James, so Mary apparently died between 1870 and 1880. The LDS website lists David as son of John Norris and Sarah James James.
