| Comments: | My Jindo ran away yesterday. I live in the Atlanta area. His name is Jonah and his color is white with brown eyes. I miss him so much and he's way too smart to be lost.
He bolted on New Year's Eve sometime before 1am. He's never been gone this long before and I'm worried about him. We were gone a total of 4hrs. So, if there's anyone out there in Atl - pls watch for him. Been to all the local shelters and through the neighborhoods. No Jonah (sob sob) |

I've had my Jindo for 13 years now. I received her when she was 7 weeks old. I can't tell you what a wonderful dog she is. I love her so much. She is my companion and is so loyal. We also have an American Bulldog and they love eachother. She is facinating to watch. She was very difficult and strong willed when she was younger, but she has mellowed over the years. She is so intelligent it freaks me out sometimes!!! |

I too rescued a Jindo (I think he may be mixed) from a kill shelter in Ohio. He is the most awsome dog I've ever had. He's a total love, and SUPER playful. I have 2 other dogs (german shepherds) and 3 cats. Kitchi does well with them all though he does love to chase the cats if they run. I just have to repeat, he is THE MOST AWSOME DOG. |

| Comments: | I have two beautiful Jindos - male and female. They are three years old. I have been trying to mate my female with the male but she is completely unresponsive to his actions. As a matter of fact she is completely unresponsive to any actions from any males. I wonder if she thinks that she is not a dog? My dogs do not like other dogs or other humans. Is this a breed trait? My male jindo is awfully skinny too. We can often see his ribs even though he eats SO much. We spent hundreds of dollars at the vet to tell us that nothing is wrong with him. Is this also conducive to this particular breed? I've noticed other jindos are rather slim also. |

| Comments: | Hello :)
I am desperatly looking for a purebred jindo dog and so does ma daddy. We all want a purebred jindo with the papers to prove it, but is really sounds impossible. Our family knows about the jindo dogs and my father wants to have a 7-8 weeks puppy (or at least a young one that is trainable and will not runaway to its previous master) GIRL OR BOY will be fine and we will pay to what ever your price will be as long as it is reasonable :) We have a very large back yard which will be suitable. All our animals have died becuase every night racoons would catch and eat our chickens, ducks, bunnies, ect. I cry all the time and i want a dog, one that can fend for itself and so it cant be eaten =) My dad used to be a breeder and will no longer get anymore dogs. BUT he says jindo puppy will be acceptable sence it has been his dream to keep one as all korean's dreams. Me and my dad want to train the puppy. my dad will only exept the purebreds with the papers. Thank-you |

| Comments: | I adopted a Jindo puppy from the pound. They were actually calling her a Shephard Mix. I soon found out that is NOT what I had. I found all the Jindo websites & they helped me to identify her. She is the most wonderful dog!! She is so smart & loves her family very much. She loves mycat but she does not like other dogs!! We are trying to socialize her & curb her intincts some (can that be done?). I had never heard of this breed & sadly noone else in the south has either apparently!! I would love to talk with other people who know about this breed. I have emailed Ann & Mr.Kang & have not received an answer back. I love looking at pictures of other Jindo's & would love to show off my baby if I had the chance. Thanks! |

| Comments: | I just adopted a dog because her owner moved to Washington, DC and originally understood the dog was a shiba inu, but after seeing Rusty in the daylight and observing her characteristics, concluded that she is actually a Jindo dog. Rusty is incredibly smart and stubborn, but very well behaved she is able to sleep lightly enough to know when we might be going outside for a walk and remembers to urinate outside in the park and she observes other dogs, but does not do that stupid thing with barking her presence to them because they see her and if they are interested they can then come to sniff her scent.Jindos really are a unique and pleasant breed, although with all her fur, double fur it seems that fleas are a severe problem and I need advice as to which method with help keep her happy without the frustrating biting that she has been trying to apease the pain with. thanks for your dreambook! |

| Comments: | I still have Stormy (rescued in April) and cannot find a single responsible soul in Colorado to adopt her. No one recognizes the breed, and shelters/rescue groups won't touch her with a ten-foot-pole (lethal injection excepted) because she is dog-aggressive, unpredictable with children, and will kill a cat on sight. She is otherwise the most intelligent, docile, loyal, and soulful creature I have ever met (and I've met thousands). Too bad there are so few humans that match her qualities. This is why anyone considering breeding Jindos must see past their beauty and intelligence and realize what becomes of them when an owner is inconvenienced. It makes me weep that people are asking $2000 for a puppy when I have spent over $600 (initial boarding and vet costs)to rescue this girl, only to end up with an appointment late-August to have her "euthanized" because as the days grow shorter, I can no longer keep her safely isolated from my many cats and get her out for twice-daily walks.
Today at a local Pet Adoption attempt, she ate every ant that crossed her path. One day while walking her I was calling to a nearby raven and felt a light touch on my hand. It was Stormy, standing upright and giving me a look I'll never forget. I love this dog, this breed. It's not enough. |

| Comments: | I have a goldish whitish female jindo dog. Her name is Lessie. She is aggresive around dogs and people. I don't know why. She once bit my neighbor. She doesn't bite asian people ONLY!!!!! My dad is trying to find a purebred male jindo dog for her. He thinks that once she has puppy's, she will get a little nice. If we don't find a male jindo dog then we have to get her fixed but I want to give her a chance to be a mother and I want a chance for my dog to have puppies. Whenever we had a dog we always had to give the dog away for a certain problem. I mean every single time. I want a chance for my family and me. Thank you for reading about my life with my dog, and please wish me luck with finding the perfect purebred male jindo dogs.
THANKS A GAIN. BYE |

| Comments: | We just lost our beautiful 13.4 year old little girl. She came to us as an angel at the age of 10 weeks old. We loved her free spirit and unusual ways and especially the way she could show love. We gave her everhthing in our home that we used such as the couch and bed however Ruby wanted her own "den" so she had several beds throughout our home and never wanted to be "totally human" by sitting on the couch. We didn't think she could bark because she never barked until she was one year old. When that happened she acted as surprised as we were. Barking and showing her needs with a bark were always difficult for her to do so we became very aware of her wants and needs because we knew she was unable to do a bark to direct us.
We believe she snuffed a wierd seed up her nose the beginning of summer. We believe she never got it sneezed out and it absessed high up inside of her nose. This was hard to confirm so it is just our belief because of how and when it all happened. Due to the seed thing her health seemed to suffer after July 2002 and we lost her Oct.16, 2002. The loss is so terrific that words do not express how we feel. She always greeted us when we returned home with something she owned. We always took it and then she demanded it back. Of course we loved giving it back to her. We would enter our home from the garage calling, "Where's Ruby" and she always came to greet us. As I enter our home now that is what comes to my lips is to call out, "Where's my dog...where's Ruby." My husband and son and I have discussed rescueing a Jindo. My husband's fear is that if she is a rescued baby she may have lost some of her free spirit due to other influences in her previous life. That is our feelings. We are open to a puppy of fawn colorings. If anyone has any babies in Southern California you can contact me at lojo4me@yahoo.com |

But does anyone one know of any reputable breeders in America who have true purebred Jindos or Pungsan gaes for less than a thousand dollars? I really want to get a Jindo or Pungsan puppy. I would keep it as my companion and most likely I would not breed it. I really want a male puppy, preferably white if it's a Jindo. Thank you for any information you can provide me. |

My roomate just surprised me with a rescued female Jindo Gae last night. She was the runt of the litter and the owner was going to let the other pups kill her off. My friend paid the idiot to get the pup from his insanity. I have tenatively named her Foxxy, as she is about the same size ands color. She is very timid but highly inquisitive. I am sure with love and attention she will be like her big Uncle Kody in no time. I just wanted to share my love for these intelligent beasts. L.J. |

| Comments: | Hi, we have 6 yr. old jindo named Jindo. She was not fixed when we got her a little over a year ago. She was not abused but she was neglected. She is a sweet dog but under socialized and as with a lot of other jindos that we've heard about, she's very aggressive toward other dogs. Her previous owner tried to give her a playmate since they had to leave her alone so much. Unfortunately, she was too aggressive toward that pup, even though it was a jindo too.
Now that we have her, because her owners were moving to a smaller condo, she is a part of the family, but we would like to have more dogs. We figured the only way this will happen with our Jindo is if she has her own pups. However, no one seems to "know" or are too willing to share knowlege on how to breed her. All the web sites on breeding are a thin mask to preach about the evils of breeding. This will be the first and last time she will whelp, and we will keep all the puppies. Isn't there someone out there who can help? She doesn't have too much time left. |

| Comments: | I adopted Robin, a Jindo (or predominanly Jindo) female, about 3 yr old, 18 months ago. We are in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was a stray from the pound and had been physically abused. She was very dog-aggressive at first and I hired an obedience trainer, who really helped. However, anything obedience-based with an abused dog can cause fear, so we trained a different kind of training. The two things that really helped were (1) Tellingon Touch (T-Touch) dog training classes with Sabra Learned in Berkeley, California, and (2) homeopathic treatment of Robin's fear and aggression. Robin, now 4 or 5, is a fabulous, gentle, sweet, cuddly, incredibly smart dog. The T-Touch training worked for her because it's based on gaining the dog's respect, never threatening, intimidating, or punishing. Light touch of a certain precise kind is used to reduce the animal's anxiety and when more relaxed they learn much better. We have slowly exposed her to more and more dogs to the point where she can now hike with us off-leash and meet lots of dogs without attacking them. She used to need a muzzle to protect other dogs. She will still charge and growl at some dogs occasionally but we are working with that. She has never gone for a human but sometimes will growl on a trail to protect me. So we are working with that too. The homeopathic medicine has calmed her down significantly and speeded the training. It really helped Robin to have a companion dog who is a tiny and very aggressive daschund cross female. The senior dog was the instant alpha when the two dogs met and has helped Robin learn domestic behavior as well as provide company (I know some people say Jindos should be the sole pet but I disagree, all dogs including Jindo naturally live in packs and need other dogs). If anyone wants more details on our work with Robin they can contact me by e-mail. |

I am fostering a Jindo, and need to find a permanent home for her. She is about 4 years old, and was almost starved to death and abused by her former owner. When she was found weaving in and out of traffic, she still had on her ID tag, but when the owner was called, he didn;t want her anymore. PLEASE HELP! May I post her on your site when it is up and offer her for adoption. I need an experienced Jindo owner who wants a challenge to continue to provide her with the love and security that I have for the past 6 weeks. |

Glad to see a site devoted to Jindo's. I am a proud owner of a male jindo that is going on 9 yrs old. He was a mascot for a US Air Force unit in South Korea while I was stationed there. My brother-in-law (who worked for the unit) gave him to us after he couldnt find anyone to take care of him. Still look back on it and realize that it was the best decision I made in regards to getting a dog. I have never seen a more loyal or smart dog in my life...though he has caused a few problems when it comes to interacting with other dogs. I used to have a picture of him on a site called 2 Jindo's but I think that site went down...havent got around to fixing my webpage. By the way...my Jindo's name is SOJU |

love the jindo, but unfortunately I'm not in a position to live with one (2 dominant Basenjis already at home!), so I'm enjoying the breed online and on trips to So. Cal. Incidentally, you're right about Basenjis and lure- coursing. Once my older Basenji was lure-coursing and a bird flew low over the course. When faced with a choice of real meat (bird) or fake (white plastic bag), she didn't hesitate to go after the bird. Thanks for the wonderful website. |

rescued about 2 years ago. She was displayed on your page for awhile but I can't find her now. Her name was Mi-a and she was a white/fawn colored Jindo. Since she has been living with us, she has become completely attached to our family. She gets distressed if she "counts" us all and she comes up short. She'll search the rest of the house until she finds that missing family member like she's counting her pack. She has also learned some new tricks, like crawling on the floor, jumping through a hula hoop, speaking/singing, playing dead and catching a frisbee. She is thriving with us and we are very glad that we decided to adopt her from our local animal shelter. She is a beautiful addition to our family. If you want any more information on Mi-a please let me know! Thanks! Chrissy Stauffer |

| Comments: | Wow...Can I just say that I thouroughly enjoyed your
website. I have a male Jindo and words cannot describe how much I love this dog. He is my best friend. Unfortunatley, he lives with my parents because I live in a small apartment, and they live in a house with a huge yard. I visit him (and my parents!) once a week. He goes bonkers when I arrive! In fact, my parents tell me that he starts going nuts when my car is still around the corner. My affection for this breed of dog is indescribable. Sometimes I spend hours scouring websites for Jindos that need to be rescued and end up feeling depressed and angry that any dog, but especially Jindos should be homeless. I even went to an adoption location to check out mother and son Jindos who were picked up and needed homes. Tonight I happened to stumble on your site and read through all the stories of succesful Jindo adoptions and it made me feel really good. I know this sounds cheesy, but it's great to be able to read about some really great dogs who find really great homes and people to love them. I believe that Jindos love you BACK! I read and saw pictures of your Jindos and I laughed at all the things that other Jindo owners said about their experiences with this great breed of dog. I went through all the same struggles and joys with my Jindo, Gomi (little bear-dog). So, hey Ann, thanks again! |

"spitz" looking female from the Monterey SPCA..We were told it was a "chow" mix as it had a blue-black tongue..However it looks nothing like a "chow" and as I researched, I am of the opinion she is either a Jindo or a Hokkaido..Our "snowy" looks much like a few of the white Jindo's in your photo collage..After reading your comments though, now I am not so sure, as she is more stout than lean..she is about 18" high and 38 lbs...whatever she is she is a wonderful dog..smart,athletic,affectionate..an incredible sprinter..she keeps up with greyhounds on Carmel beach..anyway, thank you for your informative web site.. frank nuciforo Carmel, Ca. |

Hi Ann! A thousand thanks for creating this page. When my folks brought a Jindo puppy home, I had no idea what to expect. Eun Joo was the most stubborn and nervous puppy I ever met. To say the least, the first two months were the most exasperating moments I have ever spent with a dog. However, reading your page has allowed me to understand Eun Joo better and now we get along great! She's the smartest dog I ever had, and even learned to play fetch at 3 1/2 months. The family is planning to get her fixed in October, then afterwards send her to obedience school. Thanks again for creating such an informative page. It takes alot of love and patience to raise a Jindo. |

| Comments: | Your Jindo Page is comprehensive - lots of pictures,
different approaches to the topic, great depth for those who are interested in the more technical aspects of breeding, and great stories! The first time I saw a Jindo was at the Teterboro Animal shelter (over 2 years ago) and I had wanted to adopt it but the sign had emphasized that it was not good with kids (I had a 4 year old at the time)... yet, for some reason when I looked at it - the calmness seemed to say otherwise. I left but continued to remember that dog. About a year later we wound up adopting a Shiba - only because it looked so much like the Jindo I had seen. Since then I've encountered 2 other female Jindos (my Shiba is a male). I've learned much more from your page than I could have from those encounters because of the language - I don't speak Korean. Thanks for your great page... it puts us closer to Nature and Life! |

female named Cupsuni she is registered with the Korea Pet Animal Protection Association. She will be 4 years old in September and I have not been able to find another white male to breed her with in the Seattle, Washington area. I have read many off the comments concerning Jindo's on many websites, and my personal opinion is yes these dogs are naturally wild and need a certain type of owner. However, I have never owned a more loyal, intelligent dog in my entire life. She is wonderful around chidren, and I would never own another dog except a Jindo. If you know of anyone that has a white male in my area I would be more than happy to share a litter with them. If you Email me back I will be more than happy to email you back a picture of her. Since this is a Dreambook, I would like to put my dream here. I dream that the Jindo will have a Future in the USA that goes beyond the resuce shelters where it is commonly found and most people fisrt learn about the breed. I have very seen few web sites on the Jindo but I have heard of too many of these regal dogs in Shelters with no Future. I dream there are responsible breeders and loving homes for all Jindos in America. Appreciate your wonderful site and hoping for more education and understanding for this somewhat tenacious breed in the USA. Suki |

| Comments: | I very much enjoyed discovering and exploring your
interesting web site today. I have had avid interest and curiosity about the Jindo and the various controversies about their connection to Japanese dogs since the mid-eighties when I visited Korea. At the time I was first importing Shiba Inus from Japan into the USA and the Jindo was still not allowed out of Korea so it is most interesting to see the fate changing for the breed. As a long time breeder of Akita and Shiba Inu, I believe there is surely a common link between the breeds which will probably never be fully acknowledged or understood so I think sites such as yours are very important for education about the history of the Asian dogs. Best of Luck to you and the breed, Suki |
