| Comments: | I am somewhat computer illiterate, so just overlook the mistakes. I have lived in the Phoenix, Arizona area since early 1980. In Sun City West to those who are familiar with the area. Lots of sunshine, very little rain but lots of nice people. I notice most of the correspondance is from those people from the classes in the 80's, 90's and this decade. The rest of us are better than that. I have made an attempt a couple of times to bring my alumni dues current since my stroke 4 years ago; let me know if anyone can help. Best to all. Art |

| Comments: | I had the pleasure of visiting our dear Mrs. Bailey this weekend and she is doing very well. I told her a month ago when I saw her she looked 92, but the other day (7/20) she looked much younger. She is sharper than I am with her memory and what a blessing she truly is to all of us Mooseheart alumni. Remember her in your prayers. She will still be with us for a while as her mansion is being redone for more size. God bless you Mrs. Bailey! |

Check out http://www.mhalumni.com/events/RockCutDetails.pdf for more details on the park and the chosen accommodations. For more information on the park, including camping and cabins, go to http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/parks/r1/rockcut.htm. Hope to see you next weekend! (If you plan to come in on Friday night, please let me know. So far no one has indicated they're coming in early and I'd rather not sit in a hotel by my self, but if there's a party going on, I'm there!) |

| Comments: | About a month ago I got a call from Judy, Marian Bailey's daughter, saying that Mrs. Bailey was facing serious health issues and had put together a list of people she wanted to reach out to. I was touched to be on that list and I called her. It was wonderful to talk with her, but there was a feeling of goodbye. Well, life is what happens when you're making other plans! Today, Dick Wuchte shared the following email from Fran Bailey Hacker: My mom has asked that I write you so that you can get a message to the Mooseheart WEB site. As you probably know, for some unexplained, but welcomed, reason, she is doing much better. She still tires easily, but is up, dressed, and able to get around, just at a little slower pace. God has truly performed a miracle here. Our family truly believes that this turn of events was in part due to the outpouring of cards, flowers, well-wishes from so many people. Mom would like you to pass on her most sincere gratitude to all of those people who had her in their thoughts and prayers. She feels so blessed to be given the time to not only talk to so many, but visited with many as well. Can you please convey this in a note on the WEB site. All who know my mom can appreciate her great sense of humor. We felt an appropriate campaign for her plight can be best described as Mark Twain once said, "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Our family truly appreciates the exaggeration. Twain also said, "Life goes on!" There is no more indomitable spirit than that of a good and determined woman. To Mrs. Bailey ... you go, girl!! |

| Comments: | The other evening, May 17th, I drove down from home in Milwaukee to attend the annual dinner the alumni hosts for the graduating class of 2008. What a delighful evening of togetherness, great food (pizza, lasagna, salad and desserts), wonderful memorable stories of days gone by and each grad telling us their plans after they leave Mooseheart. The alumni board members of Bill Harvey, Kevin Romano, Dave Petosky and myself were very impressed with all the graduates. All alumni members would have been very proud of our new members. The campanile was all decorated for them, thanks to the board and especially Bill, Sharon and Patti Harvey. We all owe a great deal of thanks to the Harveys as their work is tireless and with total devotion and love for all the Moose Alums. I personally am just blown away by their hard work and dedication to the association. The loft to the campanile was opened for the grads and everyone one of them ascended to the top for a view. Early in the program, many had told us they never had even been in the campanile at any time during their stay at Mooseheart. This is a class of graduates with many 10 plus years or more at Mooseheart. So the grads were pretty much blown away by our home and headquarters, the "campanile building." This is a beautiful class of young men and women and do keep them in yours payers as they begin their journey in the real world of life. May the dear Lord's PEACE be with them always and forever, and also, may His light shine upon them as they begin their travels beyond Mooseheart. |

| Comments: | Just finished reading the latest "Quarterly" and was somewhat disturbed to read about some, shall we say, boorish behavior by some of our members. What gives? If you feel you have some legitamet complaints there are better ways to have them addressed than resorting to disruptive behavior at the annual meeting. Am I out of line here? Probably so to those that are guilty. One of the things I admire most about those that serve our Alumni Association is that they are willing to do so. I appreciate that they accomplish what the rest of us are not willing to get involved with. I can only say, THANK YOU, to all of them that have served us in the past and to those that serve us today. Want to close with this thought...I wish that every "kid" that ever "attended" Mooseheart has a happy, healthy and prosperous life. |

| Comments: | Happy New Year, Just found this page as i was looking up and thinking about Mooseheart and the many years I spent there. I was showing my grand children what it was like and what it is like now. After more than 30 years on the mission field in Mexico in Afria I have a new interest in what is going on there. You see i must now due to dificult cercumstances send my own three grandkids there. it is very difficult to think that they will be so far away but i am so appreciative that it exists. they will for the first time in there lives have some security and a good education.they have been accepted to Mooseheart and will go as soon as a space opens for them so if some of you grads live in the area it would be nice if you could contact them when they go. Their names are jen-ni virginia age 12, raphael david, age 10, and Jonathan Daniel age 8, Serrano is their last name. I is funny that although my sister jackie (class of 66) and I spent our lives raising orphaned and dying children in third world countries i must now send my own to be raised by others. since Jackie died in 1993 I have not truly been able to take care of the kids the way they need so I am so glad they will have this chance. i will feel a lot better about it if some of you might contact me and maybe drop them a note every once and a while Remember what it felt like to get mail from the outside. I live in California and I have had a slight stroke so it is hard for me to travel much. I pray that this year will be prosperous for all of. if there are any of my classmates out there reading this please get in touch. oh by the way i am writting two books about my experiences on the mission field, one is called DO I DESERVE TO DIE AND THE OTHER IS CALLED THE DAY THE OUTHOUSE FELL IN. IF YOU KNOW AND PUBLISHERS YOU MIGHT LET ME KNOW ALSO GOD BLESS VIRGINIA (HODGE) |

| Comments: | Nathaniel C. VanSickle (Van) "Nate" Nathaniel C. (Van) "Nate" VanSickle, 85, a long time resident of Aurora, passed away December 15, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 20, 1921 the son of Albert and Mabel (Gilmer) VanSickle in Laramie, WY. Van graduated from Mooseheart in 1941 where he met his lifelong love Ann Marie Davidge who preceded him in death in 2006. Ann and Van were die-hard Cubs Fans, held season tickets for many years and were often guests on the "Kathy and Judy Show" during the annual Cubs Convention. He worked for General Mills in West Chicago for over 40 years where he became affectionately known by his co-workers as "Nate the Great". He also belonged to the local Moose lodge and St. Paul's Lutheran church. Nate was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and bowling but above all he was known for his generosity. His annual garden provided family and friends with an abundance of produce. Ann and Van were famous for their Mooseheart "Homecoming" parties and their year round "Christmas Lights" display that Van spent hours putting up in their home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and faithful friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by two sons; Bill (Carol) VanSickle of Aurora, CO and Dan (Carolyn) Dial of DeKalb, IL; five grandchildren, Chris Dial, Dana (Edwin) Echaverria, Ben (Lisa) Wilcox, Jen Wilcox, and Teresa (Will) Miller; one great-grandson; Andrew J Miller; two sisters Alice (Clarence) Lindgren of Nebraska and Mary Ohlinger of Raleigh, NC; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son in infancy, Wayne David VanSickle; three brothers, Albert, Gerald, and Verle; and one sister, Ila Emry. The family will be receiving guests from 4-8 pm on Thursday, December 20th, 2007 at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave., Montgomery, IL. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2007 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made to the following organization; Passages Hospice, Attn: Kathy Smith, 134 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin, IL 60123. | Comments: | Karen and I want to thank the Mooseheart Alumni Association, especially; Bill, Sharon and Patti Harvey, for an absolutely beautiful Homecoming weekend we just all enjoyed. All the events were just marvelous and the venues were all very nice. Bill works very hard, along with his wife and daughter to make sure everything goes very smoothly and we are all very appreciative of that and thank you very much. Also, thanks again for me being named a recipient of the Mooseheart Athletic Hall of Fame award. I will cherish that award with honor until my last days on this earth. I just hope we can get all those others who are so worthy of this award inducted too in the near future. The big highlight of the weekend was the Red Ramblers beating North Shore 19-0 in the big game. Coach Gary Urwiler had the team at their highest level and performance and now with a few more victories will once again be playing in the Illinois state playoffs in Division 1A. The kids have worked hard to improve and seem to be on the top of their game now. Please remember them in your prayers these next few crucial weeks of play. Thanks again Bill for one beautiful weekend of 2007 Homecoming events we will cherish forever. May our dear Lord's PEACE be with all the alumni and their families now and forever. |

| Comments: | Homecoming week and what a joy this is going to be for all those who are coming home. Mooseheart has changed a lot for many of us but really hasn't, just kept up with the times. Our home is administrated by some absolutely beautiful people and we should all pray for their well-being in the course of our days. Also, pray for the Red Ramblers who are now 3-3 but playing as hard as they can. The Indian Trails Conference is tougher than most people think for the school sizes. Alum and Head Coach Gary Urwiler has done a brilliant job of coaching our Ramblers. They will give all they have for a Homecoming victory for all the Moose alumni here and at their homes. Just remember them in your prayers come Saturday (10-6) around 2 p.m. Karen and I look forward to seeing some real familiar and some not so familiar young faces. It's always a trip down memory lane if there ever was one and what a joy when the brain chips go off. See you at Homecoming boys and girls, what a blast it's going to be. |

Don't count the Ramblers out of this one as they have a very nice and talented team with some very talented players. Keep them in your prayers and thoughts this week as this would be a big feather in their hat if they could pull this one off. Coach Urwiler (Class of '87) is one heckuva coach and he has been thinking about this game for a long time. Let's all get behind the Ramblers as they strive for a very good season and a big Homecoming victory for all the alums. God bless the Red Ramblers and may our dear Lord's PEACE be with them this season and every season. |

| Comments: | I was a student at Mooseheart from 1960 untill 1965. I attribute my vocational, acedemic, and atheletic success to some of the finest coaches and teachers I have ever been in contact with. I have owend my own shoe repair business for over 20 years. I have a collage degree and am a member of my collage atheletic hall of fame. I even had a stint as a professional boxer.I have been a teacher a coach and am a father of three caring adults. I owe that all to Mooseheart and its staff. I have many found memories of The Child City and some not so fond. My brother Tony and I were alter boys in the early 60's. I would like to hear from any alterboys fom the late 50's or 60's. I would also like to hear from any of my 66 classmates.I live in Ponte Vedra Florida less than 10 miles as the crow flys from Moosehaven. If any of you are coming down to visit Mickey Mouse you have a place to crash on the way down in my studio apartment two blocks from the beach. Don't come down now it is brutally hot. Excuse any spelling or typeing errors. I have an old machine, am not computor literate and I was the worst speller in Mrs. Mead's class and could only type 28 words a minute in Ms. Lucas class. If I don't answer your e-mails quickly don't be insulted. I really am not into the computor age. |

It was just a little past 6 a.m. and the team was already running up and down Moose Road. I firmly believe this is going to be a very good team and season. Small in size, like every season, but big in the heart. Chris Morones (#15 Q.B.) is definately the leader of this team and as a senior he's looking for a big football season. This young man is very talented and has been at Mooseheart since a baby. He is no baby now and has been the Q.B. for the past 2 seasons. He truly knows his talents and abilities come from above and his leadership qualities are outstanding. Keep a sharp eye on #5 (Gabe Kendor) and #22 Floyd Mays who are both speed demons and can run a punt or kickoff back for a TD just about anytime during a game. The key will be the offensive line and, what else, the "defense". I watched the first 6 hours of practice and I saw a lot of desire and effort. Some are in better condition than others but Gary Urwiler knows how to whip them into shape. A talented coaching staff, quite a few returnees, and that big heart will be their strength. Their #1 strength is our dear Lord and they all understand that with Coach Urwiler at the helm. Anyways, enough for now... Just have to wait until 8-25 to see them play at Hoopeston, Il and get that first "W". Keep them in your prayers as they would dearly appreciate that. |

| Comments: | Hope everyone is having a great summer as the home stretch is upon us. Tomorrow at Camp Ross our "Red Ramblers" begin practice for another season of football. Are you ready for some football? I know I am! I am very excited and interested to see how this group of seniors and underclassmen develop into a playoff caliber team. I've watched them for 2 years now and the seniors have been on the field. The QB (Chris Morones) has been at Mooseheart since a baby and he's one heckuva a player and leader of the team. Come to HC and see for yourselves! You think they have a soft schedule, think again! Several teams they played last year made the state playoffs like the Ramblers. They don't let just any team into the tournament, you must meet qualifications. This team could repeat that feat, but they have to want to. Small in numbers, small in size, but very big in the heart. Lead by our own alum (Gary Urwiler) they will leave it all on the field win or lose. Keep them in your prayers and remember them every weekend when the games come around. Pray for no serious injuries, pray for them to overcome the season's big walls in front of them (every team hits up against some kind of wall), and pray they improve every game. Pray that their chemistry is focused on winning and keeping the school spirit high. Pray, especially, that they play for the dear Lord who gave them all this talent and ability. Thanks you guys for helping me come back to my roots after all these years. I'll be with you every game! I got my own personal mascot who will sit on the bench every game this season. His name is Wucksey Moose! God bless all the alum and I'll keep you posted right here on the season which starts August 25th when they play at Hoopeston, Il. Their nickname is the "Cornjerkers" and they will be jerked all over that field of theirs. I can't name all the great kids, but #15 and #22 (my number) are players to watch. Go "Ramblers" |

I thought that been graduated in the class of '62 according to my alumni directory and I remember he was in Penn Hall as a senior when I was a sophomore there. Anyways, lets all pray that he is now officially a member of Heaven and with our dear Lord and Saviour. All that happens here is just a speck of what HE has to give us all for all eternity if we desire. I never saw Ben again after he left Mooseheart, but remember him very well and he married a member of our class of '64 (Pat Spohn). May you rest in PEACE, and may we be with you again with our dear Lord in Heaven. May our dear Lord's PEACE be with you, your family and all your friends of the Mooseheart Alumni Association. |

| Comments: | The previous entry I found a little disheartening and I will check this out and find out what the question is all about? The reason I am posting today is to let the grads know that Karen and I attended the graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 26th and we both were very inspired. Neither one of us has attended any graduation since ours in 1964 and we were invited by several of the kids in this class to be there. I have come back to my "roots" wholeheartedly these past few years and I wouldn't have missed this occasion for anything. The ceremony brought tears to our eyes and we were just as filled with emotions as the day we graduated. Karen and I marched together that day and never saw each other again until our 25th class reunion in October 1989. How the dear Lord works, as we connected that weekend and we got married the following summer on my birthday 8-4th. This is truly the first class since we left Mooseheart that I have personally felt close to and what a beautiful young group of adults they have produced to go out into "the real world". I just wanted the alums who read this to know that graduation day is just as big, just as emotional and just as exciting as when everyone of us graduated. We have all had many sad days in our lives, but that day was one of the saddest for me and I'll never forget Karen kept telling me, "it's going to be alright". With all of lifes ups and downs, many brought on by myself, it really has been a good life if it ended today. The best thing that has happened to me these last 5 years is coming back to the dear Lord, who saved my life and marriage, and coming back home to Mooseheart where I was born 8-4-46. The dear Lord has given me new birth, new life and has allowed me to put the past behind with his forgiveness. I literally rejoined the Moose organization and extended all my forgivenesses to them. Whatever pains you have, whatever troubles you have, whatever hurts from the past you have, just turn it over to HIM. Thank you dear Lord for saving my life, thank you Mooseheart for saving my family's life, and thank you for being my Mother's home for 36 years. I wish I can give back to Mooseheart 1% of what they have done for me and my family. I pray all these young adults who I witnessed last Saturday graduating from our "home" will be able to do just that for themselves. God bless Mooseheart, which I can see very clearly now, "HE" has done just that. Thank you dear Lord for everything but mostly for giving me a new heart and a new spirit. May the class of 2007 keep that spirit wherever they go in this life and this world. If they remember their roots and walk with HIM they will never have to look back in regret. God bless the class of 2007 and our fellow alums, but mostly, our brothers and sisters of Mooseheart. |
