| Comments: | Mooseheart Homecoming had a great turn out by the Classes of 1949 and 1959. Last week, I have added to Facebook's "Mooseheart Alumni Association" site the Saturday pictures from the MAA registration and annual meeting at the Campanile; as well as the football game with the homecoming court, ...alumni and students. The final formal event was our MAA Banquet, Awards, and dance. I posted pictures relating these events. I haven't ID people in the pictures; so I'm hoping that I can recruit Bill and my fellow Alumni to update pictures with the appropriate Alumni name tags on the pictures. Additionally, I know that there were quite a few Alumni who spent time at Camp Ross and celebrated Homecoming there and it looked like they had a great time. I left two weeks after he left. | Comments: | Just read that Donald Adkins passed away, he was a great friend of my mother, Opal Moon, and of our family. May he rest in peace, heaven has gotten another angel!!! May God bless his family and give them peace and comfort. Taken from the Mooseheart website: "Donald L. Adkins, who served as a teacher and principal in the Mooseheart schools from 1951 until his retirement in 1991, died Tuesday, April 7th. He was 85. Mr. Adkins came to Mooseheart at age 28 in 1951, first serving for five years a fifth-grade teacher. He also served as Director of Summer Recreation from 1955 to 1962, supervising the operation of Mooseheart Camp Ross during its first years in the late 1950s. In 1956 he was named principal of Mooseheart's Elementary School; in 1974 he undertook added responsibilities as Director of Education. In 1979 Mr. Adkins shifted from the Elementary School to serve as High School Principal for the final 12 years of his career, until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Adkins was a Life Member of Batavia Lodge 682 of the Loyal Order of Moose, having joined in 1951. The Fellowship Degree of Honor was conferred upon him in 1982. Visitation for Mr. Adkins was scheduled for 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at Healy Chapel, Sugar Grove, IL. A funeral Mass was set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 13 at St. Rita's Catholic church, Aurora, IL." |

| Comments: | The Harvey's are very sad today 12/19/08. Our son Shawn age 39 passed away today at 4:50 am after a 13 month bout with cancer. He came home Wednesday, after spending 6 days in the hospital. Hospice was taking care of him around the clock from the time he returned home. Judy was with him at the time of his death, Martha and Joseph were asleep. Shawn will be cremated. There will be a memorial service scheduled, probably for Tuesday 12/23/08. What a great turnout for the class of 1958 for their fiftieth. Also, the class of 1968 for their fortieth had a great turnout. The reception had a big turnout on Friday evening and the banquet was full too. The dance after the banquet is more of a social than a dance but what can you expect from brothers and sisters who haven't seen each other in so many years. | Comments: | Hi, Well where to start. Just found our Homecoming is next weekend so Now I have to decide if I can make the trip. 8 hour drive for me. Of course that depends if I can beg off work, won't know till Monday. OK now I really need to ask for some help here. I have not been back to Mooseheart at all. Need some sujestions from people who know the area for hotel and such. What have I been doing for the last 30 years that I couldn't come out and say hi? Well I always was the last one to get to class so getting back to school late shouldn't be a shock. Lets see, Got married in '82, Greg worked in the strip mines then switched to over the road trucking. I tried doing hair but got bored it wasn't much of a chalange in a small town. Pursued endurance racing in my spare time and worked at a riding stable to condition my horse. That ended when I had Kat who is now 17 and headed for Culinary school after HS. Jessica, daughter #2 is now 11 and may fallow in my horse loving footsteps. We lost Greg in '04 to a accident at a place he was unloading. Greg was the oldest boy in the family so when his grandparents farm had to be sold (Medicare after Grandmas stroke) I decided it wasn't leaving the family and I bought it and added a house instead of the major gutting and rebuilding of the old one. So there it is. Unpacking into one, fixing the old farm house barn and outbiuldings a bit and trying tho sell one in another county. Yup still crazy after all these years. |

I have a very strong tie there from my teaching and coaching days. Several of the football and basketball coaches were students and player of mine and they have made it a point to stay in tough with me. I also see Coach Anderson every time I'm in the area. He volunteers as Batavia's girls hurdle coach. One of his junior athletes won the state championship and is the #3 ranked hurdler in the country. I talk to him every month and sometime twice or more a month. I'm planning bring him to the football on Saturday at Mooseheart. |

| Comments: | About a month ago I got a call from Judy, Marian Bailey's daughter, saying that Mrs. Bailey was facing serious health issues and had put together a list of people she wanted to reach out to. I was touched to be on that list and I called her. It was wonderful to talk with her, but there was a feeling of goodbye. Well, life is what happens when you're making other plans! Today, Dick Wuchte shared the following email from Fran Bailey Hacker: My mom has asked that I write you so that you can get a message to the Mooseheart WEB site. As you probably know, for some unexplained, but welcomed, reason, she is doing much better. She still tires easily, but is up, dressed, and able to get around, just at a little slower pace. God has truly performed a miracle here. Our family truly believes that this turn of events was in part due to the outpouring of cards, flowers, well-wishes from so many people. Mom would like you to pass on her most sincere gratitude to all of those people who had her in their thoughts and prayers. She feels so blessed to be given the time to not only talk to so many, but visited with many as well. Can you please convey this in a note on the WEB site. All who know my mom can appreciate her great sense of humor. We felt an appropriate campaign for her plight can be best described as Mark Twain once said, "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Our family truly appreciates the exaggeration. | Comments: | The other evening, May 17th, I drove down from home in Milwaukee to attend the annual dinner the alumni hosts for the graduating class of 2008. What a delighful evening of togetherness, great food (pizza, lasagna, salad and desserts), wonderful memorable stories of days gone by and each grad telling us their plans after they leave Mooseheart. The alumni board members of Bill Harvey, Kevin Romano, Dave Petosky and myself were very impressed with all the graduates. All alumni members would have been very proud of our new members. The campanile was all decorated for them, thanks to the board and especially Bill, Sharon and Patti Harvey. We all owe a great deal of thanks to the Harveys as their work is tireless and with total devotion and love for all the Moose Alums. I personally am just blown away by their hard work and dedication to the association. The loft to the campanile was opened for the grads and everyone one of them ascended to the top for a view. Early in the program, many had told us they never had even been in the campanile at any time during their stay at Mooseheart. This is a class of graduates with many 10 plus years or more at Mooseheart. So the grads were pretty much blown away by our home and headquarters, the "campanile building." This is a beautiful class of young men and women and do keep them in yours payers as they begin their journey in the real world of life. May the dear Lord's PEACE be with them always and forever, and also, may His light shine upon them as they begin their travels beyond Mooseheart. |

| Comments: | Charlotte told me about this site a few years ago but I was still computer illiterate so it took me a while.Today I learned from it how to stain my deck and when to seed my lawn so I am feeling like a pro.What do you say to people that you havent talked to in 25(yikes)years.Let's see,Im living in Galesville,Wi now for about a month from Eau claire and just love the country!Im married 20 years (at least 18 of them great)now to a wonderful man and we have just the best boy ever who is 17.We have two boxers who are my "baby girls",they are loving the country as much as me.Most important,about six years ago I got "born again"and love the lord and life.My sister Sheila has been living in Florida for at least 15 years now and has an awesome daughter who is 19.Rick lives in Aurora,IL and has two boy,the youngest entering high school next fall.I have good memories of mooseheart and love all of you.Be blessed! |

I just moved to Galesville,WI about a month ago from Eauclaire and am loving the country.I have one child Drew who is 17 and just the best kid ever.I have been married 20 year in november.(at least 18 of them have been dreamy)I have to blame the other two on the last time I got together with some of you,was it our 15th? It doesnt seem like we are old enough to be coming up on our 25th. I havent really kept in touch with anyone except Charlotte(the reason I finally came to this site today.I lost you when we both moved call me or write.Why arent you on here anyway?)and Millie once and a while.I do love you all though and have only fond memories of mooseheart.Oh,most important about me.I got "born again" about 6 years ago.I love the lord and I have a blessed life! My brother Rick lives in Aurora and has two boy's,the youngest about to enter high school next fall.Sheila is living in Florida for at least 15 year's now,she has the most wonderful daughter 19 years old.I dont think any of you know Steven he didnt go to mooseheart,but he lives in Florida too. | Comments: | Just finished reading the latest "Quarterly" and was somewhat disturbed to read about some, shall we say, boorish behavior by some of our members. What gives? If you feel you have some legitamet complaints there are better ways to have them addressed than resorting to disruptive behavior at the annual meeting. Am I out of line here? Probably so to those that are guilty. One of the things I admire most about those that serve our Alumni Association is that they are willing to do so. I appreciate that they accomplish what the rest of us are not willing to get involved with. I can only say, THANK YOU, to all of them that have served us in the past and to those that serve us today. Want to close with this thought...I wish that every "kid" that ever "attended" Mooseheart has a happy, healthy and prosperous life. |

| Comments: | hi,i am alive and well.still living in idaho with my wife barb and our two kids nick and natasha.i was at mooseheart a few years back and was sad to see my old home,(fez hall),gone it tore me up as i loved to spend my time there! i am on the road alot as a otr long-haul driver so kits hard to get to campus for activities but it would be cool to hear from some of my old classmates,i say old as i was the youngest person in our class way back when. well take care and be happy |
